SBV3202 Received the modem yesterday, 1st of April 2019. Took some doing, it's up and running, seems great. Now user experiences may vary... But this son of a bitch was a nightmare to get registered or I should say provisioned with Comcast. But as far as I can tell that actually might have been a tech problem, as in the tech support person. Still on the fence about that...

This model is made specifically for xfinity. The modem isnt an issue.. its getting the modem to work with xfinity...

Nice fast modem that was quick and easy to set up.

I have Comcast and wanted to replace their modem with my own to save $13/month. This unit has the phone jack that Comcast requires to keep the package deal I have, and is on their list of modems known to work well. My internet is very fast with it. I needed to buy a router also, and I already had a great WIFI WAP that I was able to place in the best location that the Comcast WIFI modem could not be. It works effortlessly.

Troublesome getting this connected to the Comcast system. The usual happened with the agent failing to connect to the modem, calling in a tech for the next day, and level two support (I assume) activating the device some time during the night. Now it’s up its doing exactly what it says on the box, and I’ve escaped the first world tyranny of Comcast rental fees :)

This product was purchased, along with a separate W-Fi router to replace a combined cable-modem/Wi-Fi router supplied by our cable provider. performance greatly improved, in part because of the ability to separately position the Wi-Fi router away from our TV and other gear and barriers to Wi-Fi signal transmission. Installation was easy, though it took some time to complete the firmware update process and complete the internet connection through the Cable Co.

I bought the SBV3202, modem+phone only, no WiFi router. I had some set-up hiccups, so I thought I'd provide some advice: - When you set it up, wait for Power, US/DS, and Online to _all_ be solid green. It took about 10 minutes on first power-on for this to happen. Just be patient. - I was able to complete the set-up by going directly to xfinity.com/activate and following instructions. - I also have my own WiFi router, which I've had forever. To get that WiFi router working, I had to hard-reset it after the Arris Surfboard set-up was complete. On previous modems I've had, the US/DS would always flash, so the first time I tried to set up the Arris I did not wait for that to be solid. Then I spent probably an extra hour trying to get the WiFi up because I didn't know I needed to hard-reset. My whole set-up time was about 2 hours, but you could probably shave an hour off of that by following my advice (which was actually in the instruction manual-- I just missed it the first time around). Everything's been up for about an hour now. Set-up was not without stress, but it was do-able. I imagine I'll bump up the star rating in a few days. Edit: Everything's been working as expected for 2 weeks. Bumping from 3 to 5 stars.

I bought this modem to replace a prior model that I had for a number of years. Replacement was solely to take advantage of faster internet speeds. Modem out of box, connected and plugged in was an easy swap. The problem came with dealing with Comcast. First of all, since you are connecting this as your own product and not one purchased through Comcast, skip their automated support and get a live person. Their automated support gets stuck because it is not anticipating that you have a new piece of equipment. I used the Xfinity phone app “My Account”, went to settings and requested a callback. From there it still took an hour but all it involved was them doing the setup on their end and running a few resets. And, if you have your phone service through them, they need to pass you along to another person to get that setup to run through your new modem. All in all, just time consuming. But the modem works great, speeds are faster and everything on my end connected just fine after I got through Comcast’s lengthy process.
