Easy and dependable
As soon as I plugged it into the computer it worked without a hitch. I also like the sturdiness of the case, unlike other external drives, this one has weight and substance.

Does the trick
My new state-of-the-art laptop does not come with: 1) a CD/DVD drive 2) more than 1 USB port 3) an HDMI port 4) an SD card reader Apparently those convenient items are a thing of the past and despite only being born in 1988, new technology has officially turned me into an antique. Is it so hard to build these nifty once-useful features into laptops to appease us apparently old people? I found myself requiring not only an external HDMI port, an external SD card reader, an external USB port, but suddenly I also required use of...GASP...a CD/DVD drive! What are these contraptions...CDs? DVDs? Apparently they’re just as useful today as my Blockbuster membership card I still have stuck in my wallet. I was forced to purchase this item due to new computers’ “slicker” design but stupid lack of functionality. I came upon the need for this product because I’m a financial advisor and am currently enrolled in credentialing programs that require lots of study, and one program came with a DVD and CD. So my nifty little external CD/DVD drive allows me to use the DVD and CDs on my computer and, oh yeah, play the PC games I bought but was no longer able to use because Microsoft stripped the world of a built-in CD/DVD drive. This external drive does the trick. Plays what I need it to. Shipping was fast. Product came nicely packed. Using it in public though is like being seen jogging with a Disc Man. Side note...did you know that Microsoft Media Player also no longer plays media? Ummmm.... I miss the 90s.

Good quality at a fair price
I bought this drive for my new windows 10 laptop that has no optical drive. It works perfectly with no extra drivers required. It also works with my chromebook. I've burned DVD-R and CD-R discs sucessfully. Read/write speeds are good and the drive seems stable while running (no excessive vibrations or bouncing on the desk).

Great Price; Works Well
Just got this for my laptop that does not have a CD/DVD drive. Hooked it up right when I got it, and it works great. Came as described and for a decent price.

Working good as advertised
So far so good. Plug and play on windows. Works well and slim. I am satisfied with the read speed that averages a little over 6.5MB/s for me. There's couple minor things about using this DVD drive. Probably because of the slim design, it's a little difficult to close the drive. I have to put some pressure on top of drive (to station the drive) and then push in right at the middle of the slot to close. Or you have to use both hands. Another thing is that the cable is short. about 8". It works great for laptop when you place them side by side. I use it with a desktop and I need USB extension cable. But since it is powered through the USB cable, adding extension cable resulted in not enough power. I need to add a USB self-powered hub to provide necessary power when used with extension cable. Note that this is not a problem particular to this drive, but in general to USB 3 powered devices that require higher power requirements. All in all, I am happy with the product.

Great inexpensive external CD/DVD drive
This portable drive is working great so far with my Mac Pro laptop . I've watched movies and downloaded music into iTunes with no problems. It was really easy to install - just plugged it in and it was ready to go.

Works just as advertised.
I used this drive with my Mac laptop, since it doesn't have a disc drive. Worked instantly. The DVD I wanted to watch started playing right away, just like on the older laptops with disc drives. I also love the built-in cord, since you don't have to stow it somewhere separately. One potential issue is that it's not balanced. When the tray is open, the whole drive tips toward the tray. Have to hold the back of the drive down while the tray is fully extended and I'm putting a disk in. This hasn't caused me any problems however. And the machine works fast and efficiently.

slim and easy to use
Although this external drive might not work with some DVD burning software, overall this unit is great. Fast and instant with no delays. I would recommend this unit for those looking for an external drive whose laptop might not come with an internal drive.

Glad I ordered it!
This drive is great! I got it for my Macbook Air because my Windows computer with a dvd drive is too much of a hassle. I just plugged in the Rioddas drive and it worked immediately. No set up needed at all. Within seconds I was importing my first CD to iTunes. I didn't really buy it for the DVD part, just the CD part, so I haven't tried that yet, but if there's any issue watching movies with it I'll update my review. Great job guys!
