Not much changed

I have used Quicken since the days of MS-DOS for my personal bank accounts and more recently tracking my personal investment tracking. I am very familiar with the VERY EXTENSIVE PC based screen user interface which may frustrate small screen smartphone oriented users. They will be happier with another product. I generally follow a 3 year upgrade cycle and ALWAYS upgrade well after the start of the calendar year so that the many Quicken bug fix cycles have occurred and stabilized. I also ALWAYS back up my data and ALWAYS do the "File > File Operations > Validate & Repair" cycle to prevent accumulating data file errors from trashing the subsequent upgrade. The update to Quicken 2016 was HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE and I wrote multiple negative reviews about getting the bank data downloads to work correctly. Just installed after tax day 2019, the 2018 Premium 2-Year CD box version which I had bought from Amazon.com last year (which turned out to be entirely an over-the-internet download & install cycle using the "Activation Code" in the box). Absolutely everything went smoothly with no data base errors and no bank data download problems. I adjusted the register font & spacing to suit my eyes on my monitor to equivalent to what I have been used to. I explored the improved investment information and analysis offers which I did act on with a specific "I think that you can do better with xxxx instead of yyyy fund" message to an investment advisor. I don't use the Quicken Bill Pay feature because I previously had all my bill pay transactions to run from my bank successfully. I have not use the Quicken "Tech Support" because of lack of need so don't have any rating in that category. Summary: Happy camper so far. I do recommend to all users the frequent continued use of the "Verify and Repair" function to discover and fix small errors before they can accumulate into a mess that nothing can fix. I suspect that many of the angry "Update failed miserably!!" complaints are caused by this problem. After my 2 year account has timed out, I will likely be happy to convert to an annual subscription plan which is now how they do business. I would even pay MicroSoft an annual rental amount to continue Windows 7 if they offered it to individuals and small businesses (they won't).

Similar to previous versions. Do not like that need to buy every year to maintain access to online financial downloads. Preferred buying software That could be used for several consecutive years. Prevous method was less expensive than the current one.

Due to my own error in setting up my id, the company charged me both for my new Premier subscription and for my old Starter subscription. I sent them a note about it, and within an hour received a phone call from their "Office of the President" telling me that they were already refunding the funds for the old Starter subscription renewal. I was very pleasantly surprised. The product itself is quite mature and very effective in maintaining financial records.

I have been using Quicken for more than 20 years and would guess that I have about as complex a set up as anybody. In addition to 20+ years of stock and other data that doesn't get archived, I have more than a dozen accounts across multiple banks, credit card companies, and brokerages. I was very worried about making the upgrade, particularly because of other reviews, but it went completely smoothing. Quick and easy. Not one single issue. So while I appreciate that some may not like the new subscription model, it's clear that Quicken has been investing in the underlying quality of the software and I'm happy to pay an annual fee to keep the software stable and high quality.

very nice program {have been using Quicken for 15 or so years It's a shame that BILL PAY, does not work

Has been great so far, and am adding more accounts so I can see the full picture. I used Quicken several years ago, and wanted to try it again to get ahold of my family budget, but also organize stock purchases and sales. Really intuitive and easy to use. Great to see everything in one place and understand where some savings opportunities are!

Negative reviews had me apprehensive about upgrading from Quicken Home & Business 2016; the dire warnings proved to be nothing short of inflammatory rhetoric. No longer needing the features of H&B, I selected Premier for my upgrade. The entire upgrade process consumed less than 7-minutes including a moment or so to search for my Quicken credentials. This was the smoothest software upgrade in recent memory. At startup, a familiar interface offered comfort that Quicken was as consistent as ever and would function predictably. Irrespective of my Win-7 O/S, Quicken 2019 reveals remarkably improved performance. The stodginess of Quicken 2016 is a discomfort of the past. If this experience is representative of that associated with Quicken's new subscription model, I'll happily accept the more frequent financial outlay. Having a trusted product which simplifies the upgrade process and remains consistent with my usage patterns is important. More to the point, I enjoy the flexibility Quicken affords me in terms of how I use the product (e.g. completely isolated from cloud services or cloud-integrated).

I use the product for financial recordkeeping. I find it invaluable for that purpose.
