Seems as good as Lodge
I'm a long-time Lodge cast iron fan and have a lot of their pots and pans. This is pretty equal to theirs and seems to be nicely pre-seasoned. I've cooked in this a few times and it's holding up very well & keeping its seasoning fine. It's a good solid weight and washes super easily, as cast iron should!

Nice Idea in cast iron, letting the lid be a smaller pot or fryer pan.
Quality cast iron pre-seasoned, heavy, but carries heat evenly so useful for certain types of cooking. Scalloped potatoes work out real well, with less cleaning effort than when I use porcelain. While I could use a glass lid to monitor the progress on some cooking, most of the time Dutch oven type food does not need constant monitoring. I keep some pots and pans handy on top of my stove, so this will double for two things and takes up minimal space. One on the nice things about cast iron, is when you want to warm things back up like casseroles, you can use an induction type cooktop, and do it most anywhere there's and electrical outlet nearby. Flip off the lid and you can cook up sausage and eggs for breakfast or French toast, nicely browned. It works equally well for home fries and hash browns. Pancakes will work too, but can be tricky as the temp has got to be right you burn or undercook them. A good pan set, I only reference that it's very heavy so not for the weak elderly or the infirm, but for most of us, it is very good. Recommended for most.

Awesome.
Love this and the fact you have a cast iron/Dutch oven duo. All I cook with now!

Medium size dual purpose cast iron cookware
I grew up with cast iron cookware and have used cast iron cookware as an adult. I used an array of different size skillets, roasting pans and specialty cookware. This double dutch oven is one size I did not have until now. My kitchen of cast iron is now complete. Pros The lid also serves as a skillet The fit, finish and build is of good quality construction Heat is even throughout giving that perfect cast iron cooking experience Seasons up nicely turning that well known black finish Cons The double dutch oven was advertised as pre seasoned, but when it arrived the finish was a very light unseasoned cast iron finish compared to the pictures provided on the order page of a dutch oven with a dark finish. Not a deal breaker and the oven seasoned up nicely once I coated it with oil and baked it at 400 degrees for one hour then let it remain in the oven until completely cool to the touch.

Space-saving cast iron
They tell you you're not really cooking unless you are using cast iron. I know--gatekeeping food preparation? How ridiculous. So I guess you could buy this just because you're insecure about what others think of your culinary skills, but if you want to use it to actually cook, you can't go wrong. What I like is that the lid doubles as a skillet in its own right, so you save some space in your kitchen. Cast iron is heavy and a pot like this takes up space, so that is a real consideration.

big heavy dutch oven, using top as a separate pan is handy
This is a big heavy cast iron dutch oven. Even the lid is heavy weight. Both pieces cook food very evenly. Cleaning takes more effort than with a non-stick pan, but you don't have to worry about the non-stick coating wearing out. Just re-season it periodically and it will last a lifetime.
