Perfect for that

I turned it into a mudpie kitchen for the grandkids by moving short shelf as a backsplash and adding reflectors. Perfect for that! Haven't tried for shoes.

Easy assembly, sturdy, good storage

This shoe bench is the perfect size for a small space while still providing useful storage. The shelf space can fit multiple pairs of husband's giant size 17 shoes and my toddlers' itty bitty shoes can sit on there too without falling through the slats. The open space on the side is all enough for a standard backpack. I am 200 pounds and can sit down, and feel supported and not worried I'm breaking the bench. My kids and cats climb all over it, and it doesn't so mich as wobble. The finish on the wood seems very durable. Neither my cats' claws, nor the door the bench sits near have left a mark yet. The bench arrived in perfect condition. It was packaged adequately, but not excessively, which I appreciated because it's less wasteful and easier to dispose of. I assembled it in less than an hour even with my kids' "help".

Good bench

Easy to assemble, looks good, perfect size. It does creak sometimes but you're not sitting on it to watch TV. You're sitting on it to put on your shoes or using it to raise your footwear up so you don't have to bend all the way down to lace up and it will that quite well.

High quality, doesn't look cheap, easy to assemble.

I waited a long time to give this review so I knew exactly how it would perform. The wood is prettier and looks higher quality than the picture shows. It creaks a little when you sit on it but make no mistake, it is very sturdy. It's been getting a ton of use for over a year now and looks just as new as the day I took it out of the box. Full disclaimer, I do not have have children so it's just me- 5'7", 123 lbs; and my boyfriend- 6'1", 180 lbs using it. the bolts are still tight and it is showing zero signs of age. I recently purchased a second one (to extend the bench and have more capacity) and the quality is just as high as the first one. I would highly recommend this bench to anyone looking to organize their shoes and have a place to sit while taking them on and off. I particularly like that it has a space for boots/high tops too. It was easy to assemble.

I was pretty nervous about putting this together

I was pretty nervous about putting this together, after reading some of the reviews here. Yes, the instructions are less than ideal. But we had this put together in about 30 minutes - and we're awful at putting furniture together. So don't worry about putting it together and focus on the quality and beauty of this piece. This happened to be just what we were looking for in my closet. The depth is about shoe length, so I guess you could sit on it. But I had no intentions of doing so because I wanted it for shoes. The materials are high quality. I love the bamboo. It's very sturdy. I'm typically very hesitant about ordering from third party vendors on Amazon. It seems the site is littered with so much crap from third party vendors. But I wouldn't hesitate to order from this vendor again. The price is reasonable and the quality is quite good.

Pre-drilled holes in leg are too small for the screw provided

It is a very nice bench for the price and I think it will meet my needs BUT, one of the legs (part E) had a smaller than it should be pre-drilled hole that makes it impossible to fully assemble. The screw provide would not go into the pre-drilled hole independent of the bench it would be connected to. I don't have a drill to try and make it right and even if I did, am fearful that the leg might be damaged if I try, Assemble was easy (until I got to the snag). I have sent a message to the manufacturer customer service and if they respond and provide a new leg, I think it will be a good purchase and will change my rating from 2 stars . If they do not respond, it will be repacked and returned. I have changed my rating from 2 stars to five as the manufacturer replied to my post and my email and have provided the replacement part needed. This is a very sturdy bench and attractive. I am very happy with this item and with customer service provided.

Practical, clean and nice looking bench

I bought this for the typical reason - boots and shoes off floor, visible reminder to everyone who enters to take shoes off at provided bench. It is a nice-looking, practical bench. My son put it together in about 20 minutes, and I was happy to see how solid it is. The dimensions were as stated in the description. I may buy another one for my mud room. I'm happy with this purchase. If you're on the fence at all about this one vs any others, go ahead and try this. I think you'll be happy with it. UPDATE: This is not the bench's fault..but no one uses it. As much as I idealise guests coming and sitting on it, and storing their shoes on the smooth wood slats...and my kids doing the same. No. Shoes continue to defy me. Most of my guests are teenage friends of my kids. Other than fantasizing about a Jetson's-style robot enforcer at the door that would grab my guests and sit them on the bench and remove their shoes AND then store them....I'll just have to keep trying. But still, this is a nice bench.

multi use item

I was looking for a place my cats could eat, store some food abd get to their litter. When I ran across this, I was not looking for a cat station, but thought, possible. This is perfect for that use, the cats go under the top to their litter, and it stores their canned and dry food. It also is light, moves easily, cleans up great abd prevents the dogs from getting to the food and litter. I could not be happier, and thinking about another one for the garage, and use it to store boots, garden items and such.

This Bench is Awesome!

Do not let the negative reviews keep you from buying this fine product. It is an attractive piece at an excellent price point. To answer a few concerns; the bench, if assembled properly, will support 300# easily (my wife and I together). Also, do not be alarmed if the top "creaks", it is simply the top boards rubbing together. This is normal. The included tools are sufficient for assembly with the addition of a spirit level or square. I can offer some tips for assembly since the instructions included are a bit too simplistic (this may have been the cause of the aforementioned reviews). 1) assemble all components loosely beginning with the legs attached to the seat. 2) note that two legs are different and they belong on the boot end of the bench. The bolts holding the shelves are the IKEA type with barrel nuts dropping into holes. The nuts have a line which indicates their correct position in the hole. 3) having attached everything finger tight, turn the unit upside down. Have a helper hold the level to the middle leg making sure it is vertical. Alternatively, using a cheap plastic drafting square or triangle, make sure the leg is perpendicular to the seat. While your helper holds everything firm in that position, begin to tighten the bolts beginning from the end of the legs proceeding toward the seat. 4) tighten the assembled "leg and shelf unit" on the seat last. DO NOT over tighten the barrel bolts. If you use the provided hex wrench, with normal hand strength, that should be sufficient. I'm enjoying my beautiful bench and I hope you will as well. I almost didn't purchase it because of what I read and that would have been a mistake.

update：very good customer service. contact me immediately when i got problem, get me a half refund . Definitely will buy again from this seller if I need more. -1 star because my package doesn’t come with instruction, -1 star for the screws are so dirty as they were soak in engine oil, and the hole aren’t very accurate. Took me a little longer and had to re assemble because I had to guess which part go with which part. It should have be much easier to assemble if my package come with instruction. Other than that, it is a nice looking shoe rack.
