We love it we probably will be buying a second one. We have 19 grand kids so it is a great alternative to cellphones with less chance they will just be slugs on a log.

I cannot recommend the Relay enough! I was hesitant to get it based on some initial reviews, however most of the complaints have already been resolved by the company. This has made allowing my 6 year old to play outside without me having to hover possible! Pros: 1. Setup was super simple. 2. Can automatically switch from Wi-Fi to cell network quickly and allows parent to remotely switch device to a Wi-Fi hotspot when available. 3. The delay is now virtually nonexistent. Apparently there was a delay of 5 seconds or so initially, however we haven't experienced it at all. 4. GPS locator is spot on. 5. My child really enjoys the fun channels like joke of the day and especially the translation feature! 6. No screen! When he's outside, he's playing and not absorbed by unnecessary apps! 7. It's simple to operate and took him no time at all to learn to use. 8. The price point is perfect. At only $10 a month, it's well worth the piece of mind i get being able to check on my kid frequently without having to physically run to the neighbor's yard. And $50 for the device is much cheaper than most cell phones, which he isn't ready for anyway. Cons: 1. There's one and only one that i can think of. We live in an area with few cell company options. Sprint is not available at all, T-Mobile is spotty at best, and AT&T is ok but lots of dead zones. Verizon is the only 100% reliable option, but it is also the only one not available with the Relay. If they could somehow get Verizon on board it would be perfect! That brings me to their customer service. The card that came with it was either Sprint or T-Mobile and I got zero connection. I used the app to contact customer service and the response time was seriously less than a minute. I reached Adrian who was so pleasant and quick to help. He asked for several addresses where the device would be used and contacted the cell partners to find the best one. Within 5 minutes he had a new card on the way. I figured it would be mailed, but he overnighted it! And he updated me as soon as he had a tracking number too! After receiving it, i sent another message to thank them and let them know it was working and Danielle responded 30 seconds later! This is a company who cares and is on top of things. They really listen to their customers and have incorporated lots ideas into the features through updates. I'm looking forward to the geofencing!

I needed a communication device that is very simple and uncomplicated. I didn't need a phone, or data, or text features. The Relay is just what I was looking for! It's like a walkie-talkie, but it uses a phone service, so communication/connection is very reliable. One push button is all it takes for the Relay user to communicate with the host's smart phone. I tried it out on our large property, as well as the grocery store which is miles away. I could hear loud and clear. There is no specific "how to" when you set up the Relay and are ready to use it. Takes a bit of practice to understand all the blinking lights and tones. They should include an instruction booklet in their packaging. But for what I needed (SIMPLE, uncomplicated communication), the Relay is perfect. I can see it's a perfect solution for parents who have kids who play in the neighborhood, and for seniors who may be bed-bound and need to contact someone in the house for assistance. Great idea!

We got these for both my boys over Christmas, and I am glad I did! I got them primarily to be able to contact my boys as they get older and go over to friends houses and stay home while I make trips to the store, and generally become more independent, WITHOUT giving them access to a cellphone with a screen and all issues that can happen with kids and unsupervised cellphones. The boys like them for all the fun features - joke channel and translating, but mostly they like being able to chat with their cousins anytime. We were able to get all our family, including my brothers, in one channel, now I know a lot more about what preteen boys talk about 😂😂😂. Functionally it works like a walkie talkie, rather than a cell phone. One big button - push to talk. A smaller button for changing channels. All the channels and settings are done through the phone app. The phone app notifies me when people are talking on any of the channels. My husband has the app also, we are logged into the same account, but he has a different username, so he can monitor them too. It’s nice that it’s a limited set of people who can talk (I get to choose!) - the phone won’t become a distraction or a source of trouble. There’s also a track feature which you can optionally enable to get info about where the phone is. They just made a lanyard to go with it that has a clip that fits into the phone hook. And the price is right for a kids phone as well. Overall we have been very pleased! There’s room for improvement in the phone app, but the functionality is all there, and the boys have been making great use of them!

Purchased this for my 9 year old and love being able to get in touch with him when i need to without the worry of him having a screen to access things he shouldn't be on. He can contact me when he needs me wherever he is at. He loves being able to use his relay and feel independent at the same time.

This is a much-needed device in today’s world. Save your kids from being lost into screen-world and still be able to communicate easily with them. Our family loves Relay and I’ve recommended it to about 20 people already!

I ordered the blue and love the color. It’s the perfect size that fits in your pocket. I have not tried the accessories. The subscription service was easy to set up and the sound quality is good as long as you don’t put your mouth too close. If you’re in a noisy place the headphone jack comes in handy! The device is durable and water resistant, which is a huge plus.

My 2nd grader started taking the bus to school so I was nervous, order this and it gives me peace seeing he made it to school and then that he made it on the bus and is on his way home. I also like that if he ever missed the bus he could contact me to let me know!

We love the relay. Great tracking devise, great taking to child anytime. We think this is a great alternative for a phone

I love this device. My girls are now able to go to the playground or around the block without me, and I feel confident that they can get a hold of me if they need to. One thing I don't love is that you have to be on the app on your phone as a parent, otherwise the message doesn't come through. You just get a notification saying that the device is trying to reach you. I wish it just over-rode (over-rided?) the lock on my phone and let the message come through. Other than that, it allows my helicopter tendencies to recede so I'm happy and my kids are happy.
