Finally! An Old Style Percolator That Fills The House With Coffee Fragrance!

I've bought (and returned) a number of percolators from Amazon because they were built poorly or malfunctioned and didn't brew the coffee thoroughly. I tried this Mixpresso as my last try at percolator coffee before giving up and going back to K-Cups. This percolator (the 8 cup model) is built like the old style percolators of the '60's (of course it's safer and more waterproof) and is simple to operate. Since all I had handy was very fine ground (almost Expresso-ground) Cafe Bustelo coffee, I tried to make 4 cups of that. Without the paper filter, the Cafe Bustelo would have gone through the metal basket holes. I therefore used a supplemental paper fold-over coffee filter in the coffee basket. I put in two tablespoons of Cafe Bustelo and filled the water to the 4 Cup line. As the coffee brewed, the fragrance of the brewing coffee filled the house (just as I remember it when my father brewed coffee in our old West Bend percolator in the 1960's) and made the whole "coffee experience" better than I've ever had it during my adult life. The sound of the percolating coffee, the smell of the percolating coffee, was an incredible nostalgic experience unmatched by the Keurig coffeemaker that I've been using for the past 5 years. The ease of cleaning (just throw all the pieces except the percolator into the dishwasher and clean the percolator every month or so with a little vinegar to descale it in hard-water areas) is also a tremendous feature of percolator coffeemakers. The robust taste of the pot of Cafe Bustelo that I made was stronger and more robust than I've had using K-cups. The smell of the percolated coffee persisted and was a wonderfully nostalgic experience. The build quality of the Mixpresso was fabulous. Rugged and made with excellent components. You don't need Starbucks, you can recreate the coffeehouse in your kitchen with this percolator!

Works great!!

I received the Mixpresso Electric Coffee Percolator the afternoon of the same day I ordered it, (ordered yesterday.) I didn't have a chance to actually use the percolator until this morning and haven't yet tried to it. I'm drinking the first cup of percolated coffee as I write this, and can say I'm very satisfied as to the operation and end results of the percolated coffee. I gave it the best 'star' rating possible for 'flavor' and 'temperature control'. However, I haven't yet cleaned the percolator after using it for the first time to know how easy (or not) it is to clean it..... so I can't rate the ease of cleaning it after use at this time. But it does percolate the coffee well and with ease, resulting in the desired satisfaction for a cup of rich coffee expected. I would recommend this product to others and expect (and hope) the cleaning of the percolator will be just as easy and satisfactory as the high ratings I've given the percolator for the 'flavor' and 'temperature control, as' I've assigned in those areas.

An Excellent Percolator

Contrary to one review, this percolator is well-made and durable. It cleans easily, and the brew time for 10 cups is about the same as a drip coffee maker. I would definitely recommend this product.

Coffee tastes much better than other type coffeemakers.

I have to find a coarser grind coffee for my percolator. Also I'm going to look for filters so I can use the coffee that I have. I like this percolator very much.

So much better than plastic basket drip coffee.

I purchased this coffee maker because it had as few plastic parts as possible and requires no paper filter. With the right grind, moderately coarse, it makes a fantastic cup of coffee. I find that filling it with the maximum amount of water makes a very weak coffee (at least for me), so I usually fill half full with 6 cups of water, while using the maximum amount of coffee, and it tastes great! The parts are easy to clean, and dishwasher safe except for the decanter, which requires careful hand washing inside and out. I do get some burnt grounds on the steel heating element, but they wipe away easily. I would purchase this again, and recommend it. The best tasting coffee I’ve made at home, besides the Chemex, which unfortunately has no way to keep the coffee hot, so I only use it for a single cup or two.

Finally a HOT delicious cup of coffee!

Like so many others my farberware pot from 25 years ago gave out. I switch to a Keurig since I only drink one cup a day. I immediately hated the lukewarm coffee, no matter what coffee I used it just never tasted as good as a percolator. I tried Presto and another farberware and was disappointed in both. things are made so cheaply these days. Those had to be returned after breaking with 2 weeks. I tried the mixpresso mainly because of the reviews. I received it today it's well-made with a glass perc which is nice. coffee is hot and delicious just like it use to be. The price was also awesome in comparison. Hope it lasts longer than 2 weeks. It's worth giving it a try! Oh and it takes 12 mins for a full pot.

Looking to replace your old Corning Perculator? This one is a good choice.

My coffee maker of choice is a 52 year old Corning Electric Percolator. It still makes great coffee, but the original cord is beginning to fail. The Corning cord has a unique design that makes it hard to replace. There is a company that makes "modern" versions of the Corning cord. I went through two of them. They are expensive and did not last more than six months. I finally came to grips with the fact that I needed to find a new percolator. I chose the Mixpresso because it is all stainless steel. That makes for a pot that is easy to clean and produces good coffee flavor. Altogether, it is a well made pot. It makes a great cup of coffee. If you are looking to replace your old Corning but not willing to give up the great taste of perked coffee, this percolator is a good choice.

Fast, economical, easy to use & cat approved!

I brew tea in mine. It's fast so no bitter tea, and takes fewer tea bags than I normally use for perfect tea. Love the ON and DONE lights to remind me to turn it off. The hotplate keeps the tea piping hot without scorching and my cats enjoy the percolator.
