PERFECT HORN!

I was skeptical ordering this at first since these vary in size, color, etc. and it was a gift for my boyfriend, but OMG I am so impressed!!!! My package arrived today and I nervously opened it to see what I got. It's EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I had read other reviews saying it was too small, had leaks, smelled bad, etc., but after thoroughly inspecting this and testing it out with water, there are no leaks, no cracks, and the rim around the top is fastened securely and adds such a nice accent. I can't wait to give it to him as he is going to LOVE this!! I also got the horn stand, and the horn fits perfectly and balances well. I am over the moon about this, and before I thought they were pointless, but after receiving this one, I want one for myself!! Also to note, as other reviews touched on it-there is really no scent to the one I got. I don't know if it has to do with getting the polished version? I was also really hoping for a mostly black horn with lighter accents, but as there is no way to request this, I had to hope for the best. This horn is beautiful! Exactly what I had in mind and hoped for, black and white (at least mine was), and the size is really perfect for holding and drinking from easily. I'm not typically a review writer, and have high expectations, and this product really blew my mind. I would absolutely recommend!! The company also sent me an email with care instructions, which was nice.

excellent ale horn!

Needed a horn for ale and mead, this one is just what I had in mind. Its sealed inside so its ready to use, but unfinished outside so you can carve your own runes of power on it. The stand is really cool to. Keep our Gods alive in your heart, drink a toast to their glory, and fear nothing in this world ye good folk of Odin!

Very viking like.

This thing is pretty cool, made of real ox horn and polished up nice. I’ve drank out of it several times and it works as advertised. It is a bit small so only about 12oz of liquid can fit at once but it does the job. My only complaint would be that the base is a little unstable with how top heavy it gets when sitting on the base. I bumped it once, not even very hard, and it fell over and spilled all over the carpet. Otherwise it’s really cool and I will continue to drink out of it like a viking. Skäl.

Huge

Bought these, and shipped to my son for his birthday. He (and his brother) love them. I'm told they can fit two 12oz beers, with room to spare. I finally saw them in person last weekend. They're huge LOL. I think the mouth is about 5" across. They said they were a little tricky to pour into, and drink out of. Hard to get a smooth pour, and if you turn them wrong while drinking, the beer will slosh onto your face. Not that they really care. The stands work great for when they aren't using them. They also didn't smell at all. They were able to use them right away. Very happy with my purchase, and with this company. I'll definitely purchase from here again.

I will preface this review by saying first and foremost, Alehorn has by far and above the fastest, friendliest, and most understanding customer service reps I've dealt with in years. I received my order, had some issues, and got in touch with them so quickly that the time spent reaching out, being responded to, and having a satisfying resolution reached was no more than an hour and a half in the same day. That being said, here's the issue I encountered, and the solution that was reached. My first order from them was for this alehorn and stand, natural finish, and when it arrived, I was at first disheartened to see that the rim was only halfway attached and separating from the horn to the point of being useless, the parts that were unpolished as requested were unevenly done, to the point that there were slivers chipping and flaking off, and the horn itself was so curved in on itself that when it was in the stand, that it couldn't hold half its contents in.... Now, all that aside, they stood by their product, understood the issues I brought up to them, and they are sending a replacement horn and stand out after going through the trouble of picking out a better shaped and more solidly put together piece, so that I'll have a horn I love. The fact that a company is willing to honor their product, and help out a customer to the extent of listening to their issues and making sure to fix each and every one of them by looking through their product until a suitable replacement is found, AND communicating clearly and quickly... I don't think it needs to be said that I'll be purchasing a lot more from this group in the future, and they are now my go to recommendation for any of my friends who want to get their own mead horn, and paraphernalia. Jessica, if you're reading this, you're doing an excellent job, and you've got a customer for life.

We decided these would be a great gift for our wedding party and fun addition to the reception. As a bonus, I convinced the boss that we should get one for each of us. I ordered one first to see if I liked it before ordering the rest, and I'm glad I did. I wanted the none polished horn and that is what I received. I really like it, it's tough looking and fits me. So we ordered more. Guess there was some confusion and we mistakenly ordered the polished horns the second time, which was a pleasant surprise to be honest. When I think of polished, I think of the cheap looking plastic horns that you buy at theme parks, but these have some texture left on them and I actually think they look better. To address some of the complaints here - The smell: Yeah, you're drinking from a horn, that came from a dead animal, that lived outside... It has a smell to it. I stuck ours in a plastic tote with a bunch of baking soda for about a week and then gave them a good wash. WASH THEM FIRST. Some of them have a twist/curve to the horn and getting to the very bottom is a little tricky, you'll want to get a brush and scrub down there because there was some gunk at the bottom of the a couple. Soak in vinegar, wash off, you're set. The taste: Wash it well and it's not an issue. The volume: It varied, some held over 2 cups, some closer to 1. I do really like the brass around the edge, but a couple had some snags. Quick fix with a knife. Overall, it's a great product and it looks pretty cool.

So freaking awesome!

I got this as a little present to myself. some people have said that it has a smell to it and it did a LITTLE when I first got it but it's fine right now without touching it. I would caution those that have a dog since my dogs were very interested in it when I first got it and one dog even chewed the stand, but I still have no regrets after all this time and I would DEFINITELY buy from them again (since I even have to get a new stand in the first place). the drinking horn is way cool and people definitely notice it and ask about it.

A Must Have For All Vikings!

I have a Viking in the making in my son in law. Our theme this year for his Christmas was anything Viking or close to it, so when I saw this amazing alehorn, I knew I had found the mother lode of gift-dom for him. Imagine a grown man with tears in his eye as he handled this alehorn with an awed look upon his face. The matching holder was a hit as well so that he could set his drink down and not tip it over. Awesome Drinking horn

Freaking huge! Awesome drinking horn and great for the price. Used it at my bachelor party. Everyone was staring. Holds 2 quarts so naturally I had the bartender at the Havana House in niles Ohio full it up with a great draft beer craft brew called Weyerbacher it was 11% abv. Took me 2 hours to finish it with my cigar of course.
