Exactly what I was looking for
I transplanted my staghorn fern from a wooden plaque to a more traditional pot. I used this potting mix to avoid soggy roots and mixed it with a orchid mix that included wood pieces. It has gone very well so far. Arrived quickly and was just what I needed.

Kitty approved!
I bought this mix to help revive some of my poor succulents that I've been neglecting, and while I can't yet speak to its effectiveness, from the other reviews and the look of the soil I'm really confident in what it's going to accomplish! The soil is mixed super well and smells the way I'd expect it to. It has a really nice consistency and you can just tell that this company knows what they're doing. I'm really satisfied with the purchase, especially because I was not expecting a bag this BIG! This is much more soil than I had anticipated purchasing but I'm all for it! My kitty is too; she thinks we made the right choice. I'm no expert gardener by any means but I like the soil enough that I'd definitely recommend it to my friends!

Brilliant soil.
This was wonderful soil. My plants have been in it all winter. Grew well. Needed much less watering and didn’t dry out, which for means the pots aren’t blown over. Will defo buy again

Good Product Not Just for Cacti
I have a finicky maidenhair fern that wilted badly with a too-rich combination of compost and potting soil. When I replaced the growing medium with half cactus soil mix, half potting soil and kept it misted every day away from heat vents, the fern perked up. I think the cactus soil mix provided better drainage and contributed to the fern's turnaround because it appears much happier now.

Very Good Mix
I grow lots of houseplants, including many succulents (I live in the desert). I took a chance with this mix, and I am glad I did so. It drains very fast, and dries out very fast--this is good for succulents in the desert. But even when it dries out on the surface, the plant is still doing fine because (I think) this mix holds water in between particles for a long time. I think overwatering is greatly reduced in this mix. I am a serious overwaterer, so this is great for me. There was a learning curve with using this because the consistency is a bit unusual. When wet, it feels soft and has a sort of bounce-back to it--I don't know how to describe it properly. Kind of like a latex pillow feels when you push on it. Or the top of a cake once it's done and when you press the top, it sort of springs back into place. It holds a great deal of water, but it never feels wet. I am going to purchase another bag of this mix. I used it to root some jade plants and to root a dracaena. I have been struggling with that darn dracaena for about two years. But in this mix it is putting out new leaves for the first time in a year. I am really into potting media--I experiment with pretty much everything, and I am SUPER picky about soil mixes. Typically, I mix my own. But this mix is one of only two I actually prefer over my own mixes. I would recommend this mix for any plant--it doesn't have to be a succulent. I would also humbly advise you to not be turned away by the unusual consistency, if you have only used premixed soil in the past. Those almost always contain lots of peat, and they feel radically different from this mix. This is a superior mix, and I'd say experiment with it to get used to the consistency; it's worth the trouble.

I shall buy this soil again
Excellent stuff, have used it for potting and also planting out new succulent. No problems at all.

Worth it
This is good stuff, you can tell just by looking at it. I used for lots of different sowing purposes and it has worked very well and has produced healthy plants. I transplanted my succulents from cheap compost into this stuff, no shock and the leaves have looked much better since.

Just what I needed..
I'll start by saying I'm new to plant ownership. After a successful try with another plant I decided to try succulents. They're easy to care for and come in a variety of colors and styles. I bought a few and decided to re-pot them in something more like me. I came across this product with great reviews and thought I'd give it a try. It really is a justified 5 stars. It's packaged well and resealable! The soil was moist and easy to work with. I've only just planted them, but I'll update my review if I find and trouble with the soil later.

Substantial amount and my plants love it :)
At first I thought this was going to be a little bit too "soil-y" for my succulents based on the look/texture when wet, but it actually does drain and dry out pretty fast (especially on the plants that are either in shallow amounts of it/are layered with other types of gravel/charcoal/perlite). I have some succulents and some flowers (snapdragons) in this and they all seems to be happy with it! I've used it for a few different plantings and made sure to press any excess air out/fold it before sealing between plantings, and haven't noticed any weird odors/molds growing in the bag. Nice, healthy stuff! The bag is also lot bigger than I pictured for some reason (the US's "imperial system" has me kinda messed up lol; I guess I can't picture what a quart is?), so you definitely get your money's worth. It's a full bag too, not like half empty, and seems like a sturdy bag (no holes, etc.).
