Versatile, tasty, sophisticated but simple.
Ghee, basically, is clarified butter. Considering how expensive it’s to make your own, this is a very reasonably-priced alternative. Add to that the fact that it’s delicious and responsibly produced, you’ve got a winner. I got the version that comes with turmeric. Turmeric, on its own, has a very distinctive flavor that doesn’t go with everything because it’s a bit bitter. It goes well with curries (of which I’m not a great fan) and other spicy food. Up to now, I’d only used with chicken and chicken soup. Since getting this ghee, I’ve tried it with rice for a slight tint of color and with potato salad and sauces for beef, chicken, and fish which contain honey or mustard (which seem to tame the turmeric somewhat) and—so far, so good. It's also very easy to brown chicken or veal cutlets (floured or not) in this ghee blend. You hardly have to add anything other than salt and pepper to the cutlet, the clarified butter and turmeric take care of providing all the taste you need and a lovely and delicious browning of the meat. It's easy to make pan sauces with the fond that's left and, with very little effort, you've got an easy dish that looks and tastes rather sophisticated. The fact that clarified butter has a high smoke point and works even better than olive oil for this purpose since you can cook with it at higher heat. Luckily, this blend of ghee with turmeric is very subtle. If you taste it at room temperature, you hardly catch the turmeric notes. Even when you heat it, the flavor is mild and doesn’t overpower any dish. It has become a challenge to me to keep finding ways to use turmeric because it contains curcumin a substance that is great for stimulating your immune system. It is also a natural anti-inflammatory. This ghee/turmeric blend is the ideal vehicle for introducing turmeric to your diet. It’s helping me to get used to a taste that I would normally not like and, as I build up my tolerance, I will be able to add more turmeric (and, thus, curcumin) to many dishes. It’s important to know that larger amounts of turmeric (not the very minor amount added to this product) can act as a blood thinner and should be avoided by people on coumadin, Plavix, aspirin, and so on. Also, due to the acidity of turmeric, it adds to stomach acid so those with reflux should be aware. I do have reflux, but the amount here does not affect me at all.

Fantastic. And healthy. And fantastic.
This review is for the Turmeric Ghee. The short version is that it is creamy, delicious, and perfect. But for reviewing purposes, there are really two separate issues: WHY GHEE? Ghee is a clarified butter. By which I mean that it is butter which has had the solids and milk proteins heated and filtered out. There are a number of advantages to using ghee. Convenience-wise, it is spreadable, it doesn't need to be refrigerated, and it has a high smoke point so it's great for stovetop cooking. (note: I wouldn't use it for baking because it is less sweet than butter.) Health-wise, it's lactose and casein free, it has many nutrients, it's meant to be better for your brain and your digestion, and many feel that is is calming. WHY THIS GHEE? It's creamy and smooth with a fantastic mouth feel. It's made from the milk of grass-fed cows. And it's DELICIOUS! I got the turmeric which is layered and has a hint of sweetness. It is AMAZING to cook eggs in, and also delicious on all breads and unsurpassed when roasting veggies. Wow. Try it with cauliflower. You're welcome. LOVE!

Yummy like butter
Ghee, or clarified butter, is much easier to cook with than regular butter because, on its own, ghee does not burn like butter does. Essentially, they taste very similar-super delicious! Who does not love butter? I was skeptical at first about the turmeric and what it'd do to the food, but no - I did not have to worry. It makes everything taste just as good as butter! Another good thing is ghee has a high smoking point, so it's perfect for high temperature cooking. I made some fried rice (that was cooked over high heat) with ghee tonight, and it was buttery and super delicious! I did not really taste any difference or oddity from turmeric. Lastly, unlike butter, ghee is very easy to spread. I cannot say enough good things about this. It's really versatile.

Delicious
Though I'd heard about it and was curious about it, I'd never tried Ghee before. When I first received this product and I began planning my review, I thought I'd try it wherever I currently use butter and then report where it tastes best. That hasn't worked out, because every time I've used it, it's been wonderful. The best way I can express it in words is that it *amplifies* butter's flavor. I've tried it on fresh and toasted bread, on pancakes and waffles, when cooking eggs, and so forth. It's been pretty fabulous in all those applications. Baked potatoes are especially good. It really enhances the spud's flavor. You must remain aware, however, that in this life you have to pay for your thrills. Calories, total fat, saturated fat, and trans fat are all increased on a gram-for-gram basis over regular butter. Price too is substantially higher and my experience is that you can't get away with using less than you would with butter. From the label: It is made in California. "For best results, store at room temperature, keep clean and dry and use within 3 months." The ingredients list is, "Certified butter (milk), turmeric." "Made from milk from cows not treated with rBST. Pasture-Raised." It is certified gluten-free and Non-GMO.

Love it
I'm no expert on Ghee. I use it in my coffee. The texture is very smooth when blended and the Turmeric adds just a hint of tartness.

Great for BP coffee!
Taste is always good from 4th and heart. I like that turmeric is in it. I have become addicted to BP coffee, and Ghee butter lowers my calorie count. (And tastes good!) All of this from an episode of the Nerdist starting Brandon Routh!

Great flavor, BUT BADLY PACKED!
I really like the products from this company. I routinely buy the ghee and like the vanilla and the turmeric flavors. This order that I just received has really ANNOYED me. The bottle although wrapped securely in a bubble bag, was SHATTERED. Glass everywhere and product leaked in into the bag. I am on a limited income which precludes me from ordering another bottle to replace this broken one. I am NOT happy that I will have to do without my turmeric flavored ghee this month! Amazon needs to be MUCH more careful!!!!!

Another great 4th and Heart Ghee product
I’ve been a fan of 4th and Heart ever since I fell in love with their vanilla bean ghee, which I’ve been using in my coffee for quite a while. Then I tried the plain ghee and am using it in just about everything that calls for butter. This turmeric infused ghee is also quite delicious and useful. While there is a distinctive turmeric flavor, it is subtle enough to use it in a variety of ways. We use it on our steamed veggies and also to flavor baked winter squash or baked potatoes. It goes with just about any savory dish. It looks like 4th and Heart has yet another winner on their hands, with the added benefits of turmeric, a natural ant-inflammatory herb.
