Good product to trace sketches.

Good product to trace drawings. I searched in the internet sketches I liked, for trace using the drawing board. This equipment helps me managed to trace/draw a shade of a Tiffany lamp style sketch. I follow instructions attached. Is very easy to assembly and un assembling. Item doesn’t comes assembly. I tried equipment using iPhone 7 plus and results were as expected. Trace obtained was almost the same from the original sketch, is great that you can draw nice object without knowing so much to draw. This product gives you the idea for start drawing and help you in hand coordination while you’re tracing. Good product. I used with adequate light on. Comes with a app that I never used, I will download later, I think is a app with some sketches examples for using, you can also search your own sketches like me.

Very easy to use

I am a horrible drawer! This makes my life so easy. Tracing with this product is very simple. Its basically just a reflection and you can outline anything you want. Print it off and go for it. Great idea. I had no clue it would work this well. It does take practice though so dont thingk you are going to be Picasso out the gate!

It Works & It Is Fun

This product is just too easy to use and a lot of fun. You do not have to be able to draw to enjoy it. I turn my smart phone upside down and place it in the slot. For me, and I am right handed, it is more comfortable to turn the holder where the image is shown to the right, rather than straight on in front of me. I have seen reviews stating people who use it are not drawing, they are merely tracing. So what? I do not think anyone who uses it intends to claim artistic greatness, nor will it will ever make an artist out of anyone who cannot draw, but it is fun to play with. One piece of advice: use a little piece of tape to secure the paper on which you are drawing so it will not slip, because, once it slips the least bit, it is very difficult to get your drawing paper back in the exact place it was when you started. These things are a lot of fun.

A very simple optical trick, using semi-reflective plastic held at just the right angle. It doesn't project the image onto the paper, but instead it is a partially transparent mirror that both reflects and lets you see through it at the same time. You position it in such a way that you're looking at both the reflection and the paper at the same time allowing you to "trace" the image that appears to be floating above the page. A modernized take on this old toy with a "cell phone stand" to use a phone as the original image. Could also double as an actual cell phone stand. Flat pack plastic easily puzzle-pieces together to form a sturdy stand.

fun for kids to trace things

my little budding artist loves this "cool" thing to do tracing and sketching. With my help, she set it up with great enthusiasm and enjoys drawing all sorts of things when she has spare times.

An excellent product

This is a great little tool for tracing. There are a couple of awful phone apps that purport to do this -- if you position and balance your smartphone/tablet just so, preferably on a contraption you need to buy in addition to the app, or, as they suggest, atop a glass of water -- yeah, right. This physical object does it much better, and it also has an app with minimal features that edit an image in all the ways I actually need, with none that don't. I've tried it on a couple of images with my iPhone 11, and it works great. I'll try it with an iPad tomorrow, and I'm sure it'll be fine. It preemptively answers the question "What if I need a bigger image?"; it tells you up front to make sure the stand is level with the paper; and, if you haven't figured it out, here's a tip: the less ambient light the better you can see the projection on white paper, back lit only with your device's light. Also: close one eye, it will help you conflate the projected line with the line you are drawing underneath it on paper. A great buy. I saw it first advertised by a fancy startup art supply brand for $49.99, and this one is exactly the same but without the brand logo. Even the app is exactly the same: I see the stock drawings from the app on the page of the fancy brand, which I like, so it shall remain nameless. I am very pleased with this device.

My husband has said collecting art supplies and creating art are 2 different hobbies - and he is probably right LOL But I love art supplies and art tools that make things easier The app is simple, informative about the history of the tool, and gives you the instructions. It is a nice add-on to the product, but not necessary to use it all the time. I actually enjoyed the sketches and historical information on the app. Tools like this have been used since the 1500’s in a process called optical painting. The app can be used to download the photo and brighten it, but I could do it without it. I put the photo on my phone screen and adjusted the brightness until I could see it on the paper on the other side. If the image was larger, it was not hard for me to scroll and do it in sections, I just kept the phone in the same place but scrolled the image. I am an artist - but so is everyone! If you can learn to write your name, you can draw. Drawing is learned and will improve if you practice - yes, some people have a better knack for it than others. I prefer to use colored pencils - the wax or oil based one where you can use thinner and blend it into a painting. If I am planning on spending 30 hours with the color, I want a great sketch to start with. I cannot bring myself to color/paint from a sketch that is wacky and disproportionate. I have used different techniques over the years including electric projectors to holding it up to a window to get a backlight to a carbon-type paper. This is just another tool - economical and useful.. Using tools is not “cheating,” it’s a good way to encourage people of all ages to draw and create.

Worth it!

The assembly was so simple!!! Came the next day in the mail! I was skeptical from the mixed reviews but figured for the price of it, if it worked I’d be super happy! It does exactly what it says! It holds my iPad without the case perfectly. Stand behind it for best results! I did not have scratches on the plastic plate, at all, it was in perfect condition! The case it comes in is perfect for storing it when not in use! I will be using this for cookie and cake designs. The possibilities are endless! I’m so excited and definitely recommend! Thinking of gifting to my kids who love to draw. Worth the purchase!

Good for easy drawings

The drawing board is easy to use and works well with phones or smaller tables. The included mirror works well reflecting easier drawing with clear, thick lines that can then be traced on paper. Due to the small size of the phone screen drawing small and more complex pictures is a bit harder, but it might just need some practice. Overall happy with the purchase.

Reflective Drawing Tool

This is a great way to exercise visual motor integration. The phone or tablet reflects into the translucent screen which allows you to copy it into paper. I love that this allows me to trace anything. It took me a bit to learn how to flip my phone screen since the image is mirror, but when I did I can copy almost anything.
