Another nice product from Hosmart!

We purchased the previous driveway alarm unit. With a small solar panel on the detector, it essentially eliminates the need for battery replacement. If the driveway entrance is not under tree shadow, this solar-based detector is reliable and maintenance free. Although this new detector does not have the solar panel embedded and requires 4 AA batteries, it can be mounted at a desired location which could be constantly under the tree shadow. Now one can choose which one to use, with or without solar panel, based on the specific mounting location. All other features such as long communication range with receiver and fast detection remain the same. We highly recommend this product!

Excellent Sensor with Excellent Distance!!

This sensor works great depending on what you use it for, and where. For example, I have security cams around my home, however, I have a hidden spot that is not covered, so I utilize this sensor for that spot. It the most farthest away, but this picks up movement and notifies me instantly. I wish you can change the chimes, but it looks like that is reserved only if you have multiple sensors. Overall, excellent item - will definitely buy again! Thanks Hosmart!

The distance is good even through trees and dense brush.

I have purchased two other driveway alarms promising a similar distance. The other two didn’t even come close to picking up at a fraction of the promised distance. I really needed an alarm so I started looking at ones triple or more the price as the first two but I just didn’t want to spend that amount. So, I figured I’d give it one more try with a moderate price. This one was noticeably different right off the bat in regard to its build quality... much better. I installed it at the same distance as the other ones and it worked. Finally! So far it hasn’t missed a beat. My home is a two story fairly large house and I can hear the chime from anywhere in my home. I didn’t expect that so it was a nice surprise. The distance I have it is about 1500ft. I would definitely recommend this driveway alarm.

Generally a Nice Unit, But there was a sensor backplate installation problem

I recently purchased the Hosmart 1/4 MIle Driveway Alarm Sensor System. The Alarm system itself works great as advertised. The only issue I had was attaching the backplate to the outdoor sensor box with the four small screws provided. At first I was unable to get the screws in deep enough to close the gap between the sensor and the plate. A small screw driver did not allow me sufficient torque to turn the screws in far enough. I contacted Hosmart and explained the problem. They were very prompt in getting back to me and helping me solve the problem. It was simply a matter of getting the proper size screw driver head that provided the torque needed. It was very important to firmly hole the back plate onto the unit while attaching the screws. I would definitely recommend this unit now.

The range is great

We have 1,800 feet of driveway with a hill between the house and the unit. Works great

Works great and affordable.

I have purchased several different types of sensors from Hosmart but this is the first one I have purchased from them that allows me to install my own batteries. I like the option of using my own batteries so that I can use whatever type I want (rechargeable, lithium, etc.). I decided to use lithium batteries for this installation as I have found they perform better over time than regular alkaline batteries. I was thrilled to discover that my existing Hosmart solar sensors work with the new receiver that came with this sensor. I installed this new sensor a few days ago along my driveway (pictured), approximately 500 feet away from the receiver. The receiver is in a sunroom (pictured) with lots of windows, but the space between the sensor and receiver is heavily wooded, with no direct line of sight. The sensor has operated effectively, with no false alarms since the installation, on both sunny and rainy days. I also like the new color as it blends in better with the natural landscape. I received the package on-time and in good condition.

Great working distance

I recently purchased 2 of the hosmart driveway alarm second generation units 2019 series.i was impressed with how simple it was to installed.and the working distance,my home is 1,600 feet from the street the sensor worked every time a person or vehicle passed it with no false alarms .im an engineer by trade and I'm writing to tell you ,the hosmart is a great product.this product is only limited by your imagination.thank you for a great product.im going to try your wireless intercom also,I never found a wireless products that gives the distance yours give.MICHAEL JAMES

Detects motion as expected

I can't comment on the longevity or durability of this device but so far it's working. I have the sensor about 80 yards from the house.

Battery Sensor of this model + optional Solar Sensor = Flexibility

I purchased this "Driveway Alarm Wireless Sensor System" with its BATTERY powered sensor and then purchased an additional SOLAR powered sensor so I can use the two versions of sensors in different environments. I have the solar sensor (solar panel charges internal Li-Ion battery) placed in an area that receives direct sunshine. I have the (4) AA battery powered sensor placed in an area covered in full shade. Each sensor covers a different driveway on my property (solar sensor is 300' away and battery powered sensor is 700' away). Both sensors are working well at those distances. I like the design aesthetics of the newer round Solar Receiver and appreciate that it can work with both types of sensors. If I had all sunny locations I would most likely prefer to use just Solar sensors (you would need to order the Solar version system that comes with only Solar sensors instead of this particular battery powered sensor system model). An additional benefit is that the Solar sensor can also be charged using the USB charging port on bottom. That might be necessary should there not be enough ambient light to properly solar charge the internal battery (long periods of dense fog or heavy snow). Otherwise, the (4) AA battery powered sensor that comes with this system is working well so far in the shaded environment where its located. Although, I can't comment yet on how long the batteries will last until I have it in use for a year. I'm sure its going to be somewhat dependant of how many alarms per day and the quality of AA battery used. The (4) AA batteries are alleged to last for a year on avg. However, you must de-mount the sensor from whatever its attached to in order to take off the back to remove the 4 AA batteries. So that is an extra step required periodically but having a battery powered sensor and availability of solar powered sensor working with one receiver provides nice flexibility! I will edit this review if anything comes up or I have more real use data on battery life and overall time tested performance. Otherwise, all is good!

I previously reviewed this product as not working well. I was contacted by Hosmart and they promptly sent another unit, which seems to be working very well. Their customer service was excellent and I am pleased to now have a working driveway alarm. My weather has been dry since installing it, so I can't really say how it will handle moisture, but it looks like it should do well. The volume on the receiver is easily adjusted from low to quite loud, which is what I wanted. It was very easy to install and set up. On a couple different days the alarm repeatedly went off for several minutes at the same time of day. I'm not sure why this is happening, but I will make some adjustments to the trees nearby. It might be that I have a party of squirrels dancing in the driveway at 4:00 pm every afternoon! I would definitely buy from Hosmart again as they have made every effort to make sure I was happy with my purchase.
