Tell tail signs - a better mousetrap
Our kitchen was plagued by a rodent who made nightly forays into anything left out, including fruit, sourdough starter, malt powder, and crackers. When we hid all of the the animals chewed our rubber floor mat (photo). I tried poison bait and glue traps to no avail. Desperate, and despite the negative reviews, i purchased the rodent zapper. As a research scientist who works experimentally with rodents, I am shocked that some of the poisons are allowed and glue traps since they can cause a slow, painful death. As a scientist, there are strict rules about euthanasia only using drugs that kill the animals and painlessly. I figured that the zapper was the best option, but was concerned about the negative reviews. The item is actually well made out of sturdy plastic and is easy to assemble. Just plug in the adapter, turn on the switch, and you are ready to fo. It is important to place it near a baseboard in areas where there are tell-tale signs of infestation such as droppings or gnawing, I baited it with peanut butter and then remembering that the rat seemed to have a taste for sweet grains, sprinkled in some malt powder and left it for a few hours, not expecting much. When I came back, I heard a soft alarm sound and the light was flashing green. I also saw a bit of tail extending out of the opening. SUCCESS! I simple unplugged the unit and dumped the carcass into the trash bin. I then opened it, sprinkled in a bit more malt powder and turned it on. SA few days later, I awoke to the soft beep and a "tell tail sign" emerging from the trap (photo). In digging a bit deeper, rodents seem to have an affinity for barley malt, if you ask a brewmaster, distiller, or baker, since rodent infestation seems to be one of the major issues with malt storage. I could not find a master baiter on the Internet who recommended barley malt as a bait, but would strongly urge that you try this if you haven't had luck with peanut butter or similar. Merely sprinkle it along the length of the base (photo) so entice them in. Barley malt is available on Amazon as “Diastatic malt powder” or similar. Altogether, although a bit pricey, it has already proven itself. Do yourself a favor and purchase this along with some malt powder. The rats will die happy and your belongings will thank you.

Give it Time!
I was very hesitant at first and thought this product would be a "pie-in-the-sky" attempt to kill without poison or snap traps. I decided it was worth a chance before breaking down and using less humane methods. I set the trap up in the attic along a rafter using the plug option so as to not have to worry about batteries and if they are charged enough. There is a red indicator light on the plug that tells you the machine is working. Note the switch on the back needs to be on the "I" position to work. There is also an LED light on a cord that I hung down from my attic ceiling access panel so I could tell if anything was happening instead of having to climb up there and check constantly. For the bait I put a small amount of peanut butter and granola in the litte bait area and for the first couple of days nothing happened but this morning I noticed the LED light was on and beeping and sure enough the trap had caught a black rat. No exaggerating this thing was 16 inches head to tip of tail. I couldn't believe the trap caught something so large. It clearly died quickly there was no blood just some little bit of fur on the metal plate. This thing had been living in our house for some time I would find its droppings in the laundry room and tried my best to seal up entrances to no luck. I feel much better with the rat gone as I have small dogs and want them to be safe and have a clean home. I hope everyone has as much success with this product and good luck just be patient the rats need to sniff it out a few nights before taking the bait.

This is so easy, if it were disposable I'd still buy it
I ordered on 1-10-20 and delivery tracking was 1-13-20. It arrived 1-11-20 and I'm so grateful. Have you ever almost seen something move out of the corner of your eye? I talked myself out of it, because I'd fixed that gap in the garage and caught two mice with a Victor electronic trap but there's stairs and a drawer to empty. Loaning it to a neighbor ended it's life. Probably because he put the Peanut butter on the metal plate. But then I saw the mouse and ordered this zapper. I had just whined to my dog that we had 2 nights and 1/2 a day to worry over the mouse when the door bell rang. It was next day delivery and I was happy. This unit has a little recessed square in the base for the bait. I didn't have peanut butter. A review suggested seeds. So I used a bit of some Chickadee mix. I guess it's a safety precaution that the top has prongs that slot into the bottom half then the top has to slide forward to lock it on. Afraid I'd break a prong because it takes a little effort to move it forward. Then it was ready to go. I like that it plugs in or battery. I didn't add batteries. A red light on it's plug and the unit flash. Not hopeful but I could at least try. It was beeping in the morning. I double checked that all I had to do was up end the unit and the mouse would fall out. It was a good day as indeed it was that easy. I thought I must be jumpy because did I really see, yeah I did have another mouse. I was hesitant to remove the top so I used a long spoon to put another bit of bird seed in the square and checked with a flashlight that nothing was touching the side plates. I put it in the same place which is about 8 ft away. JUST moments ago I heard something and the flashing light became a steady light. Could I be so lucky to have caught another one. The light stayed solid red for a bit. I sat and stared at it. Then it turned to blink green and started beeping. I had no hopes for catching another one in the same place with bird seed! So before it was scheduled for delivery I've caught two mice. I know they're coming from an estate property next door that is being remodeled after being vacant with a back door that didn't shut tight. But I don't know how they're getting in my house If I could afford it, I'd leave and hire someone to stay here and catch mice. It's way up there on my list of, I have to do what, but this is easy and much easier than the Victor. Now I wonder if there's more.

No mess, no involvement. Absolutely lethal to critters.
This thing is greatl! As an electrical engineer I've developed a whole new respect for the power contained in 4 D cell batteries. It's been 6 weeks, 4 chipmunks, and more than a dozen mice. I haven't used the AC adapter yet; haven't had to. The original blob of peanut butter is still intact on the bait tray and I haven't changed the batteries yet. Last confirmed kill was yesterday. Everything electrical is self-contained at the back of an enclosed tunnel, so there's no way to accidentally touch anything that could touch back. A kill is indicated by a slow flashing blue LED and a soft beeping. Emptying the trap is as simple as picking it up and dumping it out. Re-setting the trap involves power cycling by turning the power switch off and then back on. My wife doesn't do traps but has no problem with this one. I'll buy another one to set up in my camper.

EFFECTIVE
Scott 4 Rats 0 You can completely dispose of the invading animals without touching. I do recommend sterile procedure nonetheless; i.e.gloves, clorox wipes and paper towels. This is effective technology and does not send a poisoned animal out to be e consumed by another animal, who will also be poisoned. Cleans easily, really just enough to remove the smell for the other members of the family . I had live humane traps not work as well.

Easy and clean
This is definitely the best trap I ever have . It is easy to set up and easy to clean, no mess , you don't have to touch the electrocuted animal just damp it in the Garbage can. I really recommend this trap.

The Terminator! Gets the job done fast!
I've been fighting 3 very large rats that have found their way under my house now for over 4 months. Snap traps, glue, traps, bait stations, and poisoned peanut butter balls, didn't do a thing. HUGELY frustrating. So I bought this as a last-ditch effort. I put the trap out with a couple pieces of dry dog food as bait. Within two hours I killed the first rat! Within 24 I had killed a second and within two days I got the third one! I was blown away!!!! It's easy to get rid of the rodent, you don't have to touch it, I wiped it down each time between uses. It's so easy! I only used it with batteries the first night, they were older batteries so they were dying, and used it the rest of the time plugged in. REALLY GREAT PRODUCT.

Works great!
Rats are SMART! There’s a reason they’re used in experiments! If they see something out of the ordinary in an area they frequent, they’ll avoid it until they feel it’s safe. So if you don’t catch any immediately, don’t despair. It took over a week for me to catch any, then I caught 2 back to back!! I’m a HUGE animal lover. I really don’t like killing any animal, but I simply can’t have disease carrying rats around my house. Plus, they drive my dogs NUTS, which drives ME nuts! This product kills them instantly, they don’t suffer, unlike glue sticks (in my opinion, glue sticks should be outlawed). Glad I bought this!

Works great for mice and chipmunks.
This product works great? We live in a very rural area and were getting overrun by chipmunks and mice. After using this mouse trap for 6 weeks (with peanut butter and sunflower seeds for bait) we have caught several mice and chipmunks, 2 ground squirrels and one large grey squirrel. We used batteries at first but they died fairly quickly, so we now leave it plugged in with the ac adapter. The only problem we have had is we think a dog pulled the rodent out of the trap and ate it. We now check the trap regularly and always before we let out our dog out or leave it where the dogs can't get to it..
