There were some negative reviews saying the Levi's through Amazon were not as good quality, some stating thinner material. But I've bought several pair in the past few months and all fit the same, have good quality thick jean material, and are comfortable. Stitching is good and rivets are good.

I read several horrid Amazon reviews with production and size discrepancies with Levis jeans. I almost chickened out from ordering and actually my husband has tried Wrangler as a result of previous poor purchase results of Levi jeans (short pockets, tight fit--- not as expected). I am so glad I took a shot at this, because not only was the fit perfect, but the pockets were FULL LENGTH, not the short crappy pockets we had received in past month's purchases (and this was from department stores and from Amazon) . So after buying the initial trial pair, I have ordered more. Hoping the quality holds out for the next delivery. I will let you know.

I messed up and left the Amazon page where I was ordering the jeans from.to do some more shopping. After coming back to the page, I had not noticed that the size that I had chosen had changed and I ordered very small jeans (I couldn't get them up nearly far enough). After returning them (unbelievably easy to do) and reordering the correct size (I still can't believe that they were sent before I had returned the first pair), I received them very quickly and they fit wonderfully. I am now getting ready to order a couple more pairs of jeans since I know that they fit properly. I still can't believe that I am purchasing clothing on the internet (this is where I would add a smiley face).

Bought for my elderly retired cowboy / oil exec Dad. These jeans are all that he will wear, forget the new low riser thin "sissy" pants. Kind of goes with the philosophy that he always told me that real men always have a pocket knife, and not to date anyone that didn't ... Although they are a lighter weight than the Levis 505 I usually buy at the department store, Dad likes them. With no shipping charges much easier to shop online, was happily surprised to find them on Amazon. Hopefully they hold up well.

I bought these just about exactly a year ago. I bought 4 pair and they have held up very well. They are good heavy denim. I know what lots of other reviewers are saying when they mention thin fabric in some versions of these. I bought a pair at Costco after I bought these and there is such a huge difference. The denim used is about half the weight of the denim used in these that I bought on Amazon. They are almost like stretch fabric, very thin, very light. I got them at a good price at Costco so I am not as critical as I probably should be. But there is a definite difference in the fabric of (it seems) newer versions of these jeans. UPDATE: Just bought 4 more pairs of these and they are great. Solid heavy denim and well sewn and sized. I have absolutely no complaints about these and will probably buy more again in the next few years. Thanks! UPDATE 2: I bought 4 more pairs of these jeans and they are great; my previous comments apply. Good solid denim jeans. I continue to buy the Medium Stonewash variety and they don't disappoint. Thank you!

I bought a pair each of regular fit, straight leg, zipper fly Levi's, Lee, and Wrangler jeans. The Levi's(505) were $40, the Lee's $32, and the Wrangler's $20. I washed all of them once, in cold water. They all fit about the same. The construction seems to be about the same too. All had 5 belt loops and reinforced the same points. They all were about the same weight denin. One difference I could find was that the Levi's had two rivets on the coin pocket while the Lee's and Wranglers had one rivet there and sewed the other side of the coin pocket into the main pocket seam. Also, the Levi's print your jean size on the outside label, while the Lee's and Wranglers do not. Both the Levi's and Lee have a double stitched external inseam on the inside of the legs and a concealed inseam on the outside of the legs. The Wranglers reversed this with the concealed inseam on the inside and a double stitched seam on the outside. The length of the inseam, compared to the advertised length, was pretty close, with the Lee's being the longest, and the Wranglers the shortest. I would say the Levi's were good jeans, but were they worth the price difference? Overall, I would say they all three pairs look like they will be fine over the longer term. So perhaps the price difference and your preference for brands might be the deciding factor.

There is nothing that I dislike about these Levi's jeans. I have to admit that it is a LONG time ago that I bought my two pairs. I wear them alternately, almost every day. As I mentioned in the headline they are hard wearing and you've got to believe me, when I say that it is about five years ago that I bought them........and there is NOT A SINGLE SIGN OF WEAR OR TEAR ON EITHER PAIR. Compared to the every day, expensive jeans on the market (including Levi's). These (seemingly) will last till doomsday. The material is, with out a doubt, much stronger than the more expensive jeans. So, I strongly suggest, that if you are in the market to buy some new jeans, then, believe me, you won't regret buying these (Made in Mexico) Levi's.

Bought these for husband who has been wearing Levi's for almost 50 years. For some unknown reason, I never thought even about checking Amazon for Levi's. I always went to Macy's to get them. I could have saved a lot of money over the years. After checking Amazon, I checked the Levi's website to find that Amazon has just as many styles and colors as the Levi's site. When I opened the package, the first thing I noticed was the red tag on the right back pocket. It is where it should be, but all it has on it is an R with a circle around it. I sent Amazon an email asking them if they knew anything about this as I'd never seen this in all of the years that my husband and I have been wearing them. I did doubt the authenticity just a wee bit, but do know that Amazon doesn't sell anything that isn't authentic. At any rate, Amazon sent me a reply reassuring me that they were authentic and didn't know why the red tag only had the R with the circle around it and suggested I contact Levi's and ask them. I had a chat with Levi's who first told me that this was absolutely normal and is a way of protecting their copyright. She then said, "you consider yourself lucky". She and many other family friends have been wearing them for years and she has never even seen this it. When I gave them to my husband, I also had a story to tell. I think this is pretty cool! So, if this happens to you, now you know why. If this info helps, please check the box. Thanks so much!

I have been a fan of Levi's 505 jeans for decades. I have tried other Levi's jeans and products from other manufacturers over the years but I always seem to go back to my 505's. No other jeans that I have tried are as comfortable or fit better. I certainly understand that some customers are concerned about the quality of the goods made in Third, Fourth and Fifth World countries. Levi's are no longer made in America and have not been for quite some time. I checked the tag on the pair I just received and discovered that they were made in Lesotho. Lesotho? Where in the world is that? According to Wikipedia Lesotho is a landlocked country in southern Africa completely surrounded by South Africa. Personally, I really don't care where my jeans are made so long as the quality remains consistent. I tried on my new pair of 505 jeans just a few moments ago. I am happy to report that the size and cut is the same as it always has been. You will get no complaints from me here. Furthermore, the price was quite reasonable. I wear a size 40 x 29 and have had considerable difficulty finding this size in department stores. I am totally satisfied with my purchase and hope to be a happy Levi's customer for many years to come. Levi's 505 jeans continue to be a terrific product that I am more than happy to recommend.

Despite a slew of negative reviews concerning Levi's lack of quality control, sizing consistency, thickness of denim, etc., I can say that after purchasing two pair of 550's and one pair of 505's within the last two months, that all three positively met my expectations. All three consistently fit, both in waist and in length, and all three were finished with (what I consider) as the usual Levi's quality control. I'm quite happy with my purchase(s) and will continue to order Levi's jeans in the future as I feel they have a more fashionable look and fit than competing brands.
