- 1. 7 L capacity: make water for one cup of tea or enough to serve a group.
- Fast and safe hot water: electric tea kettle is faster than a microwave and more convenient than a stovetop kettle. 1500 watts of power quickly boils water for tea, pour-over coffee and hot cocoa quicker than a microwave can do the job.
- Automatic shutoff: boil-dry protection means the electric kettle will turn itself off when water is boiling and ready to serve, making it safer than the stovetop.
- Soft blue illumination: after you’ve selected your temperature setting, a soft blue illuminating light lets you know hot water is on the way.
- Cord-free serving: the electric kettle lifts off the base for easy serving.
- Built-in mesh filter: an anti-scale mesh filter around the lip of the kettle keeps water tasting its best while making cleaning easy.

Practical and Pretty
Love it! I've been using this kettle daily for months. Auto-shut-off feature works reliably at all water levels, from min to max. Blue lights glow while kettle heats water and while water briefly boils. Lights go off when kettle shuts off automatically, or when I choose to shut kettle off early. Pretty lights are a fun aspect of the see-through design. Note also that the kettle itself lifts easily off its base and can be carried to sink or table for filling and for pouring. Power cord is not attached to kettle, but rather to a separate small base unit that creates the heating effect. One slight drawback is a spout shape not optimal for fast pouring. This is the case for many other teapots and pitchers too. So I pour slowly to prevent dripping. Another tip is to plug the base into a circuit not shared by another fast-power-draw item, such as a microwave oven. I use this pretty kettle to heat water for pouring into cups and into pitchers. Unlike using a stove, there's no hot burner or base to avoid after the pot has boiled. I much prefer this stand-alone method of making instant or filter-drip coffee, and hot or iced tea, by the cup or pitcherful.

Excellent unit for boiling water on a moment's notice
We bought this as a replacement for an always-on water boiler. Advantage is that you get hot water when you want it very quickly. 1.0L takes approx 5 minutes to heat. Only glass touches the water while it heats, there is no plastic as in other units showing how much water is inside, it's easily apparent with markings on the outside of the glass. The device boils the water for about a minute before shutting off which is a plus. We've had the unit for about a month, using it daily, and have had none of the problems with the base that others have reported. We keep the base dry, of course, and we close the lid when heating water, maybe that's what it takes.

Attractive and Great Kettle
In spite of any negative comments listed below or above mine, I really love this kettle. Not only does the glass let you see the state of the water—vital when needing not-quite-boiling water for brewing tea!) but it works about as well as an old kettle we've had for years. That means it boils water in a good time. We use ours three or four times a day for tea and avoid any scale issues by using filtered water. And heck, even if it gets a little inside, the top is wide enough with the lid lifted to get a good-sized fist and cloth in there. I believe I read some grousing about the plastic used in the lid. This is of near-zero consequence as the water barely touches just the spout and only as you pour. If you are worried about things in plastics, a quick wipe on the inside of the lid with a paper towel after use and there will be no drip back. There have also been comments on various kettles regarding the auto shut-off. This one boils our water for a full 20-seconds before it shuts off. Not certain if this is by design, but it certainly ensures you have truly boiling water. If I have anything to mention, it would be these two things" 1. The On/Off handle is clear plastic and a little thin so don't go forcing it up or down as you could eventually break it. 2. Pour the hot water slowly. The opening is not huge and you can make a small mess if you go too fast. One other thing I appreciate about this. The cord is wrapped around the bottom of the base. If you need only a few inches, unwind just one round and poke the cord through the side. If you need more, unwind it all the way. Very handy.

Great kettle!
This kettle is wonderful! Quick to heat water and the blue light displayed while heating the water is a nice touch. This kettle gets used daily several times with no issues after two months since purchased. Quick tips - as other reviewers noted, the bottom of the kettle develops scale after several uses. With water filled to about the half way mark, I added 3 - 4 "glugs" of white vinegar and turned it on. When the kettle completed the heating cycle, 95% of the scaling was gone. A quick rinse out and it was ready to go again, no scrubbing involved. The last tip is that like other reviewers noted, my kettle also continued to boil water without stopping with the automatic shut off. The problem wasn't the kettle for me. When closing the lid occasionally, the lid made a clear clicking noise, and seemed sealed. It wasn't. Now I make sure the lid is down all the way and the issue has stopped. I really enjoy this kettle and couldn't be happier with it.

Great Kettle
UPDATE: Sixteen months of daily use later, my kettle works (and looks) as it did the day I received it. Highly recommended. I've owned this kettle for little over a month and am very happy with this purchase. It's rated at 1500W, so I just need to remember not to use my toaster (on the same circuit) while boiling water. Since it boils .5 liters in less than two minutes, I don't need to wait too long before making toast. Other than at breakfast, this kettle is put to use at least two or three times every evening and all throughout the day on weekends. The glass construction is sturdy and flaw-free, while the stainless steel heating plate stands up well to the (somewhat hard) San Jose water. Every couple of weeks I'll swish around some white vinegar and the kettle is once again like new. For those concerned with BPAs, there is a small mesh screen for the pouring spout, and appears easy to detach from the lid if not wanted. I do not notice any plastic odors or flavors from leaving it in place. I do like the blue LED illuminating the kettle, it's evocative of a traditional kettle over a gas flame. The kettle automatically shuts off roughly ten seconds after reaching a full, rolling boil. A very good value.

It performs well, and looks good doing it.
Nice kettle. A full rolling boil in just a few minutes. It heats at least as quickly as others I've owned. It's a bit quieter than others I've owned - perhaps the glass does a better job dampening sound than does steel. It pours well - smoothly and drip free. The very best thing about it is that it comes to a proper rolling boil before the automatic shutoff kicks in. This is essential for black tea lovers. Update after 4 months of use: I still love this kettle. It works perfectly. One thing I learned is that if you don't close the lid, it won't shut off when boiling. I think this is because the shut-off temperature is set so high - which, as I mentioned before, is a good thing. Update after 10 months use: Still love it. Buying a second one for the office!

Coolest kettle in the world, sturdy, well made, and mesmerizing.
I really really love this kettle. It is simply the coolest thing to look at while you're cooking. If you have a modern kitchen, it will make it look even better. It also does its job pretty well, heating up up to 1.7L of water in good time, and allowing for easy filling and pouring of water with a snap lid, as opposed to the loose lid in the previous red model that I hated pulling off every single time I needed to refill the water. The handle is also large and sturdy, making it easy to control the direction of the flow of water coming out from the spout. Even though my comments below may make it seem like it's not worth the buy, it actually is so beautiful to look at that it makes all of its shortcomings seem like nothing. You have to see it to understand how amazing the cool blue hue of the light looks when it is glowing on your countertop, and how satisfying it feels to actually be able to SEE the bubbles billow up to the surface. Only drawbacks are that: i) there is deposition of scales due to concentration of water as it heats and evaporates; ii) the scales drift into the water and the filter at the spout doesn't prevent all of it from escaping, as the filter is slightly narrower than the spout opening; iii) water leaks from the sides of the filter at the spout if you try to pour too much water at once, so only a narrow stream of water can be poured at any given time without spillage; iv) it will keep boiling if you don't close the cap all the way, so make sure you have it snapped shut all the way before hitting the boil button. Still, every kettle has scales deposit at the base over time, and this kettle is simply too cool not to love!

Very Nice Kettle
I've been pulling water for tea through a k-cup machine for over a year now. I am tired of coffee grounds in my tea. I ordered this because said machine died and we needed something convenient to boil water with while we waited for the new machine. I know. Microwave? Pot on the stove? What can I say. We got spoiled. Well, the new machine is here and I think I got spoiled by the clean cup of tea. It takes very little time to get a boil with this and it takes up very little space. I also like that I can leave it unplugged until I need it, which means I can use any open outlet rather than have to dedicate a spot for it like that k-cup machine or the microwave. And I'm glad I got a glass one so I can see into it and know if it has enough water at a glance or if it will need cleaning. The instructions say to empty it after every use, but do they really think that's how it will be used? They say it's to prevent scale, and it would reportedly make better tea if I used fresh water every time, but why waste the water? Anyway, it does what I bought it for, is pretty on my counter, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Best kettle for under $50
This kettle is fantastic; my peers and I treat it terribly and I am very impressed with the way it has held up. It is very consistent, quick, and pretty to look at. The switch feels very sturdy. My one gripe is that it has begun to rust on the top of the handle, but that is because condensation forms there and no one wipes it off. I did my research and kept on coming back to this kettle, so if you have too, then go ahead and buy it.

Easy to use kettle
My biggest complain for this kettle is that you have to be very careful about clicking the cap in. If it's not clicked all the way in, it can keep boiling forever. I suspect that the accuracy of the temperature sensor has something to do with whether the cap is closed all the way in. Otherwise, it's a convenient, pretty, large kettle. Been using it for about a year now and still enjoy looking at the blue light when boiling water in the dark.
