Amazing

So this is the 3rd Dalstrong product I've purchased because I've been so happy with the first two. The title has it right, this thing is massive and heavy duty. It'll get through just about anything. I love the wood block that comes with it as well as the protective sleeve. You can put it in the block and leave it out as a show piece, or put the sleeve on the blade and tuck it away. If you are on the fence, don't hesitate with this one, you won't be disappointed.

Massive Cleaver

This is one impressive cleaver. Sharp edge, beautiful finish. This fills the bill if you want a heavy, large quality knife that can face about anything. This is just too much for the wife because of the size and weight.

Perfect for the zombie Apocalypse

I'm ready for the Zombie Apocalypse! This thing is heavy, massive and looks like a fantasy knife piece. Zombie killing weapons that serve double duty as cooking tools are in short supply. We need more fantasy kitchen knives (really, fantasy kitchen knives need to be a separate line from Dalstrong) so the Demons, Devils, Dabuks and Dinosaurs know we're not only going to kill them but cook and eat them too (side note: T-rex tastes just like chicken, which makes a lot of sense when you realize the chicken is one of their closest living relatives). This thing is a very heavy cleaver and like all my Dalstrong knives sharp enough to glide through meat likes it's not there. Now we can chop through Elephant thighs like they're not even there. I plan to serve brontosaurus burgers at my next party because of this monster. Further, after seeing this my 14-year old has promised to behave, my ex-wife stopped asking about my paying more alimony, the IRS even cancelled my audit so they wouldn’t upset me. I haven’t had a single Jehovah’s witnesses stop by since buying this. This thing Is amazing!

This is huge.

I just unboxed it and this is huge. Heavy and formattable. Venison ribs don't stand a chance. I have several cleavers and this is by far the most engineered for use. They put a lot of thought in this and it will be by new go to when breaking down game. I don't know how better to say it but buy this if you need a cleaver. If you don't need a cleaver buy it so you can look at it because it is a work of art. J.Michael

A true BEAST in every way

This is by far the biggest, and baddest cleaver I have ever held. I have used a massive old school cleaver with a wooden handle for 10 years plus - one made back before stainless steel so it is amazing to sharpen and use, but requires a ton of maintenance. The Obliterator has all the great features of my old one, PLUS its razor sharp no rust blade. Like my old massively heavy cleaver this makes light and fast work of breaking down large subprimals and poultry with ease. And unlike my massive old school one, this big beast is amazingly well balanced (like all my Dalstrong knives) so it does not wear you out nearly as much. It is quite easy to maneuver even with its weight and size. I say this is because the handle is great shape & size, the balance of the knife and the bolster design that really lets you have a comfortable, good grip without having to forcefully grab and hold tight like older style massive cleavers. Would recommend to anyone that regularly breaks down large carcasses into easier to work with cuts.

Everything about this knife is awesome! The size is what’s been getting the most compliments and when you hold it in hand you feel like you’re ready to go into the coliseum for battle! This thing is heavy! Will cut through meat easily. The negative side of this is that I don’t have another one to hold in my left hand to double wield when chopping up pulled pork.

This is a big cleaver!

This is a huge knife! I laid it on my arm and it stretches from the bend in my elbow to the tips of my fingers. It’s very sturdy and has a nice stand. Beautiful! I haven’t used it yet as I work out of town a lot. But I sure do love looking at it!

Just buy it.

If you are hesitating on buying this cleaver, don't. Just buy it! Just received mine and it is awesome! The pictures just can't do it justice. The weight is very impressive, the edge is razor sharp and the display stand is very nicely crafted. For a long time now I have put off getting an Amazon Visa card now I am glad I did. I applied the $70 gift card credit to this cleaver and paid $10 out of pocket, best $10 I ever spent!

For the knife nut, chef and fantasy sword nerd alike

Let me just start this review by saying that I’m a lifelong knife nut turned chef. I collect high end folders and have an array of name brand kitchen knives. I professionally sharpen knives for friends and am known to put 15,000 grit polishes on my blades. I think they’re functional works of art.. and this Dalstrong Obliterator cleaver may be one of my favorite knives I’ve ever owned. The 7cr17mov steel is found in many budget valued bushcraft knives. It’s a steel that can take a beating and doesn’t chip easily, but also won’t break the bank. I’m blown away that they could sell this hunk of steel at this price. The fit and finish on the blade is absolutely beautiful. I’m astonished that a 3lb, 9” long, 1/4” thick blade can be so balanced. That being said, if you lack shoulder strength.. beware.. this knife is heavy. It looks like something out of Final Fantasy or Dark Souls. Check my pics. I have medium-large hands and this thing is an absolute chunk. First thing I did with this beast was chop up a few whole chickens for some Korean fried chicken. Just.. wow. Goes through bone like butter. I can’t wait to use this thing to break down elk or venison. I was never given a product for review; I’m just a fan of impressive cutlery and I absolutely love this cleaver. The stand it comes with is rustic, yet refined and beautiful. And the sheath it comes with is high quality with padding on the inside to protect from scratches and absorb shock in travel. Now that I have this, I could never go back to an ordinary cleaver. I’d love to see them come out with a two handed splitting cleaver for butchers. Well done, Dalstrong 👍🏼
