Loving my portable DVD player! I bought it to use to play my workout videos my husband and I don’t want a tv in the bedroom so this is a great help I can do my workouts when I can’t grt to the gym and put it away. It works great the screen is bigger then a previous player I had the picture and sound are wonderful and I received it very fast from the seller

This DVD player works great and is very user friendly. My son enjoyed it on a long car trip. Battery lasts fairly long. But you can also play videos even if you run out of battery by plugging it in either with the included car charger or wall charger. Also comes with A/V cable to connect to a TV. Only downside is poor screen quality when sun shines through car windows from the side, but this is a recurring problem with every portable DVD player we've ever owned. I've not come across one yet that doesn't have that issue. The included 3 year warranty is the reason we purchased this particular brand versus another at a similar price.

At first I thought I had been sent the wrong player since the screen seemed smaller than I had expected. When I checked my order I saw that the entire unit measures 12 1/2 in. while the screen is slightly over 10 in. Once I charged the player I was delighted to find that the picture quality is great and the sound is so much better than my old portable player. I got it on a “lightning deal” so it was a great value. I will be trying it tonight with my walking tapes; I think it will be exactly what I needed. Sue H.

I received DVD player yesterday and have played 2 movies so far. I love the size and sharpness of the picture. However, one problem. The remote was packaged in the accessory box but here is a crack in the plastic on the side and a chunk of plastic broken off on the battery cover. Neither have any effect on the operation of the remote. I just used packing tape to attach the broken part to the battery cover and enclosed the remote in original plastic. Leaving the remote in original plastic helps keep it dry in case it's near water. (They are too hard to replace)

Very timely delivery! Lightweight device. User friendly instructions and controls. Videos we've tested play perfectly, and graphics and sound are wonderful! Have not yet used it for any length of time, so I'm unable to address battery length. 10.5" screen makes viewing, even by two people easy and stress free. Love the tilt screen so that if one child falls asleep, the other can adjust screen toward him without having to move the player to a different location. Can't wait to try it out on vacation!!!

This Dr.J 10.5" DVD player is an excellent unit, brilliantly designed . Their customer service personnel are friendly and helpful....I highly recommend this Company. I would purchase another one, I like it that much. Update 6/24/2018 I have seen several reviewer's bad mouth the customer service representatives, I don't understand this. Although I did have to return the original unit, they we very good about sending me a new one. I dealt with Linda in their customer service department and I have to say she could not have been more accommodating and helpful. Based on how decent they were about it, I bought the updated 14.1" DVD player. I wish all companies had customer service departments that behaved so professionally.

Purchased this to use for a recent vacation and it didn't disappoint. Case is strong enough to endure my grandson's continually bumping and occasional drop (on carpet). Sound and picture was clear and strong. Remote easy to use and the cords provided allowed us to hook it up to the hotel TV so all could watch the movies. Very happy with the unit.

I love this DVD Player, the quality of the sound and picture is great. All the cords you need, AC Adapter, Car Adapter and AV Cable are included, as well as a remote. It comes ready to plug in and go. You need 2 AAA batteries for the remote, which are not included, but it works without the remote. The instruction booklet is also there so you don't have to go on line to get your info, and the instructions are easy to follow, so I was up and working with it in minutes. And the packaging is great so you know you have a quality products someone took pride and built it well. Did I say I loved it?

I ordered this for an upcoming vacation to Florida. I tried a dvd in it right away. The picture was great and the sound seemed okay too. I'll update after the 20 hour road trip to see how it holds up. I finally decided to buy this dvd player because of the reviews and the warranty.

This is our second portable DVD player and is much more satisfactory than our first purchase. Our first DVD player's battery wouldn't hold a charge, making it not truly portable while still being usable as an additional player in the house, and we do still use it on occasion -- plugged in. The DVD player in this review (with a "DR J" insignia on the top cover and housed in an attractive, sturdy black plastic case with a hinged, swivel lid)was purchased strictly for household use and will not be used in a vehicle; we don't travel enough for that to be of practical use nor is either of us likely to use it in the back seat of the car but would be handy for that purpose and is, of course, another option. When not in the mood to read a book in bed, it's handy for in-bed video viewing, which is especially useful when one is under-the-weather or otherwise feeling unwell, or just plain lazy. Or when one wants the luxury of lolling in bed while being entertained by a movie. There are those of us who fall asleep easier with a little background noise -- other than those irritatingly repetitive white noise CDs -- I get into the rhythm of those white noise CDs and lie awake because of it. I use this DVD player when working on my crafts (dollhouses and miniatures) or when me and my husband disagree on our video viewing choices -- it keeps the peace in our house. Upon receipt, I charged the battery as instructed. Battery life runs for several hours, though I haven't timed it and can't give the exact hours before needing to re-charge, but seems to me that it runs about 5 hours consistently before requiring a re-charge. The player does post a BRIEF warning on the screen when the battery charge is expended; this is an extremely brief warning before shutting down, as in: You have a matter of seconds to act. Because I learned how very brief the re-charge warning is, I hasten to plug in the adaptor to an outlet the moment the warning posts. BTW, per the instruction booklet the battery has a life of 300 cycles, which I'm supposing means the battery is capable of taking 300 charges before needing to be replaced. I have learned that I can watch a movie with the unit plugged into a household outlet and charge the battery at the same time. That's what I call multi-tasking with a purpose! It can be run directly off household current in lieu of using it cordless, if desired. I find it preferable to keep it plugged in when I'm watching a whole slew of movies, because I don't like being interrupted when in the middle of a good movie and having to race to plug in the adaptor. Just a personal quirk. It is NOT noisy during playback, nor is it particularly heavy. I often slouch on the sofa with my feet up and the player resting on my legs. I feel its weight, which is slight in my opinion -- lighter than a household cat unless your cat happens to be a 2-ton Tillie, and it doesn't put out much heat, which IS a factor when one lives in the desert South West. It appears to be shock resistant. I often have to shift position when using the DVD player as described above. My feet start falling asleep and I have to move, which means I also have to shift the player. Doesn't phase the DVD player in the least when I shift my position. Like the Energizer bunny, it just keeps on playing. It does come with an instruction booklet with teeny, tiny print and a few diagrams of the individual components, which is good to have and you will need to preview it. If your eyesight is getting as poor as mine, have a magnifying device at hand; you'll need it for the printed text. It does remember where you stop when you put your movie on pause and will take you a few seconds back from where you stopped when you restart the device. Nice feature! It comes with a remote control; the buttons are terribly small. A stylus might be useful. Luckily for me, sort of, I have small fingers and bad eyesight, so glasses help me when trying to find the correct button on the remote. The 10.5" screen is a boon. Much larger than our last DVD player, making viewing more pleasurable and causing less eyestrain. Color definition is quite nice, looks true to life and sharp. And, no, I didn't make any changes to the default settings, I like them just as they are. The video quality is fine for me while not being HD, though volume is a bit lower than expected. Still, it's a great buy for the price and very easy to use. Perfect for up-close, personal use by an individual. Upon first use, my DVD of choice immediately loaded. Played back like a champ. No problem whatsoever with Region 1 DVDs. Every DVD since first use has played without any issues, though it does have some hiccups (freezing, then skipping forward, which can be horribly annoying and cause loss of continuity in whatever you're viewing) with very condensed DVD disks like those containing HBO cable series such as True Blood or The Tudors, as examples. Being that it is incased in plastic, I recommend treating it gently. That is, don't throw it against a wall, and then expect it to play perfectly. Take care of your DVD player and it should last a long time and prove to be a good purchase. This little machine of worthy of being treated well. I don't know if we'd buy an item like this again, though it is handy to have but not truly a necessity in our house, more like a silly little luxury for us and one that we have greatly enjoyed. Remember: It keeps the peace in our house, making it worth its weight in whatever valuable commodity appeals to you. This DVD player is recommended to anyone looking for an inexpensive, easy to use, reliable, shock-proof, good looking portable DVD player while not expecting HD picture quality or volume capable of destroying your hearing.
