This is a product review and comparison between these lights and the Cougar brand. These Hikari lights are bright and work well as advertised. It's easy to install although you do have to get the correct polarity. The Cougar brand can be plugged in at any position. In comparing the brightness of both brands, Cougar shows to be a little bit brighter than Hikari. But even with that difference, Hikari (which is a bit cheaper) does the job anyway. It definitely makes a big difference compared to the halogen stock bulbs. I bought the H11 size for my 2018 Toyota Tacoma. Unfortunately, the Cougar set is a big bigger (has a bigger fan) and it couldn't fit in the low beam area (as shown in the picture). It does fit well for the high beam. Overall, both sets are great and you can't go wrong with either one. I slightly prefer the Cougar set and would love to use that as my low beam if it would have fit. The Cougar set also seems to have a better quality of construction although that could really be cosmetic. I'm hoping both brands would last for a while. Picture descriptions: 1. Hikari low beam lights at night 2. Hikari low beam with Cougar high beam at night 3. Comparison of bulb sizes - Cougar on top, Hikari at the bottom 4. Hikari can easily fit in the low beam housing 5. Cougar hits the metal area behind the housing preventing it from fitting in the low beam area (fits easily in the high beam - 2018 Toyota Tacoma)

I believe the technology for LED conversion kits are just a little behind compared to new vehicles with stock LED headlights. That being said, for whats on the market right now, I am satisfied with my purchase. I purchased a new 2018 Honda Civic EX-L Sedan, which comes with low beam projector headlights with H11 halogen bulbs. Why Honda is behind the curve in LED technology for some of the cars is a mystery. Keeping in mind they have been putting LED headlights in the Acuras for years and are just recently offering LED headlights on some of their "top of the line" models. I ordered these H11 LED bulbs with same day shipping and installed them later that night. Installation took less that 5 minutes. Simple plug and play. Although the LED bulbs are a bit larger in the back because of the heat sink and fan, there was enough space between the other components in the engine compartment. No modifications were needed for my car. As far as the comparison between the stock halogen bulbs... The halogen bulbs did "throw" the light further, and were probably a bit brighter, but the LEDS have a more even-distribution of light from left to right. Obviously the LEDS are a stark white with a very slight blueish tint compared to the depressing yellow of the halogen. But now my low beam lights actually match the stock LED accent / day time running lights on the sides of the headlights. I have had some OPT7 led conversion LEDs on a previous car. The cougar motor lights are definitely cheaper and the fans on the bulbs are much more quiet (almost silent) than the OPT7s. As far as the intensity of the light between the two LED conversion kits, I wasn't able to do a side by side comparison, but to my memory, the light output is probably about the same. I did have to replace the OPT7 lights a number of times because one of sides of the bulb literally melted. This was an ongoing problem that I was never able to pinpoint a cause for. One thought was that the climate was too hot (Tucson Arizona, where the summers get up in the 100's.. so who knows how hot it was under the hood of a black car) and another thought was the subwoofer system I had in my trunk was causing rapid voltage changes to the LED. Now the test will be to see how the Cougar Motor LEDs hold up as far as life-span. In summary, the Cougar Motor LEDs do the job and I am happy with them. [In the photos that were stitched together to show a comparison, the top is the halogen and the bottom is the Cougar Motor LED]

I love these headlights. I first put them in my 2011 F150 and they made a world of a difference. I just put them in my 2005 Tahoe and they are amazing. I read that some people had to do a little trimming for the headlight to fit and that was true for me as well. I used my dremel to cut some plastic away for the headlight to fit properly on the drivers side. It was easy and doesn't effect how anything else fits. The passenger side fit perfectly without having to do any modifications.

Absolutely Amazing! I was actually debating on buying completely new aftermarket headlight units because the factory halogen lights were so abysmal. I have had so many close calls with animals either standing in the road or running into the road from the side. The halogen bulbs simply didn't put out enough light ahead or to the sides, not to mention making out details was impossible with the murky yellow color. Before spending over $400 on new headlight units I decided to give these LED bulbs a try (both high and low beams). I am so glad I did!! Install: Installation was a breeze, these bulbs don't seem to have the polarity issues some other LED bulbs have that could require rewiring. Super simple plug and play for the most part. My Audi A3 housing needed a bit of modification for the high beams to fit, I don't think other vehicles will require any modding. My vehicle also didn't need any anti-flicker help, though it seems the manufacturer is happy to help if you require that. Even with the modding I needed to do, it only took 20-30 minutes to install these awesome bulbs. First Light: Seriously, the first thing you will say.... WOW! Side-by-Side comparison with the halogen is no contest. LED throws farther and wider, with a much clearer and cleaner light. The color profile is best described as beautiful. Common knowledge is that HIDs will get you a white color headlight as well, but in reality it still appears yellowish after they are warmed up. HIDs are no comparison to LEDs at all, the light stays clean, clear and brilliantly white no matter how long they have been on. Another thing that became apparent is the light's response time, HIDs are notoriously slow so they aren't even considered, but halogens seem incredibly slow next to these LEDs, to the point it is surprising that I never noticed it before. The Drive: So this is where it really counts. Every morning I take my son to school, we live very remotely it is a 50 mile drive one way, and in the dark for the first hour. I brought the old bulbs with me just in case something didn't work out correctly with the LEDs. Immediately upon setting out it was apparent that these bulb were the answer I had been looking for; the entire roadway was being lit up, I could see things on the sides that I could never see before, when using the low beams light was reaching farther ahead than the halogen high beams could ever hope to. 30 minutes in, I can see eyes reflecting ahead on the side of the road, I start to brake, just as I near a group of javelina (native pigs) they rush out into the road, I easily avoided them thanks to the LEDs lighting them up way ahead of what the halogens would have. Had the Halogens been in, it would have been a close call or worse, the LEDs made this a simple, easy avoidance maneuver. The Downs: The only downsides I can see so far are: 1) The units are much larger than the halogen blubs. This won't be a problem for most housing, for those that need modification it is usually quite simple to do, get creative if you have to. It is worth it to have these bulbs, I promise. 2) The LED bulbs have to use their own cooling fans to stay cool. As such, if your engine is off and the headlights on, then you can hear the little fans blowing away. They are very quiet, but in the rare case that your engine isn't running but your headlights are on (seriously when will you be doing this!?!?) then you will hear the light whirring sounds. If that is enough to turn you away, then you probably have more problems than not being able to see with your terrible halogen bulbs. Period: These are the best upgrade I have done, I love these things. You will as well. Get some. *UPDATE* Just to let the readers know, these are still going strong 45 days later. No dimming, no color change, no flickering. I use the headlights for a little over an hour ever single day, which equates to nearly 60+ hours of usage so far. These are great! After reading horror stories of other LED headlights dimming, flickering or outright failing within a few weeks of usage I was afraid these wouldn't last, but they are still going! I will do a second update several months from now! New Con- These will cause interference with FM radio reception. Only seems to effect weak signals though, so usage in the city won't be very noticeable. -Upgrayedd

In the past I've used HID "kits" to get better lighting than stock halogens and have been happy with them, but they're fairly expensive and the ballast was not very small. These LED kits are a major improvement in terms of ease of installation. The ballasts are tiny and they're plug and play. These bulbs are very bright so make sure your headlights are aimed properly when using these to avoid blinding other drivers. I would've preferred a warmer color temperature closer to daylight but these are the only ones that this manufacturer offers. These are cool white like 6000K compared to my old HIDs which were 4200K.

I got 2 pairs of 9006 (aka HB4) and one pair of 9005 (aka HB3) to install on my 2006 Toyota Highlander. One side of the existing factory lights blew out on both low beam and high beam and I decided to replace them all. I looked at many brands and I finally decided to go with Cougar based on the community feedback on Amazon. The first pair 9005s that I put on were having a flickering effect and they would stay on even if the vehicle was completely off. They would only turn off if I turned the light lever either to Auto or low beam light setting. I reached out to the seller via Amazon, they were super fast in response and assured me that some vehicles need an add on, and they would ship it in the next couple of days. While I am awaiting that addon, impressed by their responsiveness, went ahead and ordered the two pairs of 9006s. Installing these was again as easy as 9005s and also they did not have any issues that were earlier noticed with 9005s. They are very bright and I love the white light.

Some comparisons of the lights from the stock halogens and the installed leds. The obvious yellow light are the stock halogens and the brighter white are the cougar motor leds. Love these lights. Replaced my 2018 Honda Civic Ex-t stock halogens low beam and fog lights both with the 6k beam. All of them work and look amazing. Simple plug in and all is smooth. Very beautiful bright white color to all of them. If you look closely and carefully enough, you could say it does have a small tint of blue in there somewhere that shows through a bit. Barely I would say. These lights are clearly a big improvement from the ugly yellow light that comes through the stock halogens. If I had to say anything bad about these bulbs, is that the white light doesn’t cast as far as I would have expected. It’s about a little further than the stock halogens. Though as I said before, it’s still miles way better than the halogens in terms of just white light and being brighter. Just don’t expect this light to be casted much much further than the stock halogens. Overall a great and amazing buy. Worth the price it is.

Installed these for 2010 Toyota Rav4 and they look incredible! It was like channeling the sun through my headlights at night. I did have to adjust my headlights down to keep from blinding other drivers, but the lights themselves look great. While driving, I can't hear the fans going at all even though they are huge fans. With other LED headlights I've used, the fan housing seemed crap with restrictions in air flow to vent the heat, these had a huge opening in the back for the fan to circulate the air so I'm not worried about these lights at all. Installation took literally 5 minutes, they fit easily and feel snug and tight. Awesome lights and well worth it.

Installed in a 2016 Subaru Legacy Limited as low beams. The install was very easy, just plug and play. I just had to watch where I placed the excess connecting cables. No issues so far, as simple as a standard replacement bulb. A note for Legacy (and probably Outback) owners: Your Subaru’s low beams seem to be 100% compatible, go for it! Do no use these (I didn’t order because of this) for your bright lights. In Subaru’s, your brights / high-beams are also your daytime running lamps (DRL) but running at a lower voltage to knock down the output. LED’s (not just Cougar) are on or off, not in-between. The LED’s would be running at full power for your DRL’s if you install them. Just a heads up, your local laws may differ, but this would also shorten the life too. I will look some some daylight temp standard high beam bulbs to complete the daylight temp of all lights. Another note is that these are so nicely white, that your edge trim LED around the headlamps will now look a bit yellow, but not much, it’s still MUCH better with these. I love them so far.

At first I was a bit skeptical about LED bulbs in general, not entirely convinced that they could perform or that the reviews were legit, and although I've only had these installed for a day, so far they're awesome (I purchased the H11s as low beams for a '13 Impreza). I'll plan to update my review in 6 months or so to report on how they're lasting. The light is a cool white, and I've definitely noticed that I have better visibility over short and medium range (the low-beam cutoff being the only thing that makes them less useful over long range), and especially on the sides of the road. So far noone has flashed their brights at me for blinding them, which I'm happy about. Pros: * These things are definitely bright. I installed one of them and compared the brightness (see attached image), and the difference is night and day. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the high beams become less relevant with these things. * Easy Instrallation. Not sure why they call in a conversion kit, they're pretty much plug-and-play. Large heatsink may pose problems in some vehicles, but in my '13 Impreza doesn't put a housing around the back of the bulb, so they fit no problem. Cons: * The heatsink doesn't conform to standard H11 shape/size which could pose an installation problem for some vehicles. (My wife's '14 Legacy takes H7 bulbs for low beams and puts an enclosure around the back of the bulb so I'm pretty sure these wouldn't work there without modification.) Something to keep in mind, but like I said earlier, they fit no problem in my '13 Impreza * Fans are a possible point of mechanical failure. I'll update my review in 6 months or so with how they're doing, but they do seem like a risk to me, especially where they're just out in the open in my engine compartment where dust, water, road salt, etc. are free to get into the fan and cause problems. Other Thoughts: * I'm not 100% convinced the fans are 10k RPM, I would expect them to be higher pitched if that were the case. Doesn't really matter, as they kept the lights cold over the half hour drive I took this afternoon. * Some other reviewers had noted a flicker with the bulbs. Wasn't a problem for me so far. * There isn't a picture of the whole bulb and wire harness assembly, so for those wondering, the bulb is connected to a controller board with about 2-3" of wire with anoter 2-3" of wire from that to the final connector for whatever bulb type you choose. The controller board is around 2" long x 1/2" wide by 1/8" deep, and the length of all of the wires provides some room to tuck everthing away neatly. * The fans do make noise that can be heard with the engine off, but it's really not loud or annoying at all. * I attached an image of the lights at night, with an image of both the (new) low beams with high beams on as well for comparison.
