Does the Job well

This is nifty and stylish little DVD player that works well. I needed to install Adobe Photoshop and LG monitor software to my MacBook Pro and this did the job wonderfully. Usage: Does not require special software or external power adapter. Connect to computer and wait for like 20 seconds for the machine to recognize this as CD drive. It comes with a weird connector type (see image); normal USB in one end and the other end is seems some proprietary connection type. So keep in mind, wire goes off - then poof you gotta wait for a new wire and cannot user your mobile charger wires etc. I had used a USB to Thunderbolt connector to connect with MBP. Do be a bit careful - too much force it will break. Press the button, it opens a little - pull the load tray out - load CD/DVD and push the tray back in till you hear it settles. Provide a little support to the cd/dvd tray while loading and unloading. There is a little noise when there is CD inside which is expected. Looks: It certainly has good looks; small, stylish and does not occupy a lot of space. It is not metal but it does have a little weight to it. the blue light cannot be turned off and hence if you watch movie at night, you gotta cover it up somehow. Overall, it did what was needed and happy with the product. Will keep updated if I start watching movies or something :P

Perfect performance for my MacOS Mojave computer

When I got my current computer, a Mac Mojave 10.14.3, I didn't realize that it had no port for inserting CDs and DVDs. So I ordered this plug-in, and it works absolutely beautifully! Highly recommended--particularly to those buyers who like me are not particularly tech-savvy!

great buy for the money

I didn't really want to add a cd player/burner in the new build I just did so I got this instead. I really don't use CDs anymore but just in case right :) well it works with no problems. plug and play

Great Product with a pleasant surprise!!

I purchased this product before I received and answer to a question regarding its use with a Surface Pro tablet. I was nervous when I was told it would not work with a Surface Pro but it was too late. To my surprise the DVD Burner was shipped with a power plug connector on the drive and a supplemental USB to Power plug cable which makes it work just fine with a tablet ( iPad, Surface Po or Android Tablet). Those devices' USB power source is too restrictive to normally operate a DVD Burner. However, with the external power plug and cable, one can connect to a USB iPad charger or another USB connection and PRESTO, IT WORKS!!!! You should update your data on this device!

Slim and light weight. Easy to transport Works great, I had to download a app on my computer. After figuring that out it worked great. Perfect for watching movies with my little boy

It Works Well!

I did a lot of research before settling on this device. I discovered by reading reviews for other devices that Windows 10 does not come with a CD/DVD program included. Having been forewarned I went to Microsoft's web site and purchased one or $14.99 so I would be ready when my purchase arrived. It was easy to set up and while I was investigating the player I discovered the open/close button. It is on the opposite side from the connection port (It is easy to overlook because it is flat and the same color as the case). The DVD tray is manual load not automatic. It is too soon to comment on durability from experience as I just set it up, but it does not appear fragile. The tray needs a gentile touch once opened so If young children are going to use it supervision is a good idea. I did not have any problems getting connected or using this device as reviews for other devices mentioned. I am very pleased with my purchase it is doing exactly what I wanted it to do!! A DVD player as portable as my lap top. My lap top is a Hewlett Packer ENVY a little over a year old.

Works great!

The best feature is the touch area to eject CD's/DVD's. MUCH easier to use than searching for the front button on these slim devices! I also really like the pluggable cable at the rear of the drive. That makes it easier to transport, and not be concerned about the cord bending too much, of breakinh.

GREAT EXTERNAL DRIVE

Just recently purchased a gaming pc but it does not have an optical drive so I got this external CD/DVD drive. Fast shipment (Prime), easy to hook up to desktop pc (plug and go) and it works great. Tested with a dvd and it works perfectly. The only thing I didn't care for is that the usb cord is short but it still sits nicely on my desk although it's at the back edge of my desk next to my pc. A little awkward when I want to use it but that's okay. It gets the job done. :) Very happy with this purchase.

My mom is very happy with it!

My mother bought her first laptop and couldn't figure out where the dvd drive was (there wasnt one). So I bought this for her and showed her how to use it. Set up is user-friendly (comes with instructions, but I set it up myself without them, and I'm not extremely tech savvy) Comes with 2 different cables to choose from in order to attach it to your computer (see picture). It is very lightweight, works well, and my mom is very happy with it so far.

Perfect for on the go!

This is perfect for playing dvds for the kids in the car or at the table while eating lunch. My laptop does not have a dvd drive so I needed an external one. I had to download an app since windows 10 no longer has a DVD player option but there’s several free ones out there. This has been a lifesaver.
