This fits perfectly over the pan I use to make omelets for my father. It helps keep the heat in to melt the cheese in perfect unison with cooking the eggs so that the omelet is soft and cheese melted. If it had a silicon cover on the handle it would be a great addition to keep the handle from getting heated. If I use this dome on a grill for a sandwich or something I cook at a higher heat level, the handle gets hot. Not a big thing since a pot holder can be used to lift it, but I think I am going to fashion some kind of "stay put" handle cover from one of my silicon mitts.

I bought this one and another one same time because I couldn't make up my mind because of the difference in height of the dome plus the $9.99 sale price was irresistible for the well known brand. It's nicely made and a great gift to give BBQ fans. I won't be using it for melting cheese on meat, so can't speak to that. I''ll give one to my brother for his outdoor grilling. Keep in mind that if used on a pan, grease will pool around edges that will stai, unless of course it's a perfect fit. It does wash off with a little effort.

This is a tool I wish our kitchen had a long time ago. Put a couple fried eggs in a cast iron skillet. Then cover with this dome, splash a little water under the dome and the top of the eggs cook with the steam. Well made with stainless steel, solid handle.

Does the job. Size is a bit of an issue for me. A bit big for some jobs and small for others. I have managed though. I use it primarily for melting cheese on burgers and breakfast sandwiches. Can also be used to keep a dish warm on the table. I am sure I will find other uses. Seems fairly durable and cleans up well. Handle is metal and will get a bit hot.

Yeah, you could do the same thing with just about any number of kitchen lids like high dome pot lids or even just foil etc. however, now you haven't taken the pot you needed that lid for out of service for your rice or pasta and/or you're not chucking another piece of metal to the landfill. It's the perfect size for burgers or whatever around that size you can think of needs a little extra smoke flavor, cheese melted, more even cook temp through whatever you have going or keeping some moisture in the piece of fish you are desperately trying not dry out. To boot, and this vanity, it's just plain well constructed and looks cool on your grill, elegant and functional as the Cuisinart brand represents. I am surely going to get a couple more of these.

excellent for burgers, eggs, veggies and it's stainless steel. there is only one negative, the packaging is misleading; there is no insulated cover for the handle. The handle does get hot so you do have to be careful when taking the dome off the pan.

Have wanted something like this for years. While in college, I worked as a line cook at a Denny's. For melting cheese, cooking something with a little steam (throw a little water on a hot grill, and viola: steam) we had a hubcap (no joke) from a Model 'A' Ford that someone had attached a wooden thread spool (as in sewing) to. Of course, anyone under 40 is incredulous to learn that thread came on a wooden spindle--or that people actually used thread to sew clothes! :-) Sorry, Henry Ford. This is way better than your hubcap.

This was purchased as a gift. The recipient was very pleased with it, saying that they could now put cheesy items to melt on the grill and still keep the grill lid open to watch the other items cooking. Well done!

I originally purchased this to use as the intended melting dome for a tailgate sale at my daughter's school. It worked great for serving burgers and was a leg up over the usual hot dogs and popcorn as most high school games. It melted nicely and kept the burgers juicy. I then found that it came in handy at breakfast time. When I make pancakes, I throw the dome over the stack and the butter melts well while the entire stack stays hot on the plate. This allows me to finish making eggs without the pancakes getting too cold, and I don't have to stick them in a warm oven. Love it!

I use this when I am reheating hamburgers, steak, slices of meatloaf or the like and I do not want to over cook the meat. It also is terrific for quickly melting cheese for cheeseburgers. It is small and will only cover 2 burgers. So if you are preparing a meal for a crowd...this probably wouldn’t work for you. For my husband and myself and a couple of guests it does what it’s supposed to.
