The refractometer feels solid, well built, and comes in a nice plastic hard case. My direction came in Chinese but customer support messaged me the English version within 3hrs. I found methods online but wanted to see the manufacturer methods. I found the calibration was really easy and it came with a small screwdriver to make adjustments. I calibrated and tested a sample from extracted honey in a matter of 5 minutes. I am looking forward to using this with this years honey crop. On top of the product and customer support the shipping was amazingly fast.

I've been using a hydrometer for years and was getting tired of having to take the large samples that a hydrometer requires. I used this refractometer alongside my hydrometer and the numbers come out exactly the same, even the final gravity readings. If you take an accurate reading of your starting gravity, you can easily and accurately calculate the final gravity using a refractometer. Very well made, good value, I will only be using a refractometer from now on. In addition to this, you get a case and droppers that others don't offer!

Hard to tell the difference between this and the more expensive one I have from brs. Both read and seems to have the same precision. Looks the same other than the weight. This one actually shows a crispier image, but that may just be dirt in the other one. Its impressive that for such a low price it still comes with a case, a mini screw drive to calibrate and drop counters. And I strongly recommend a calibration fluid no matter what refractometer you buy.

Very accurate right out of the box. I took an OG reading of wort with the refractometer alongside using a hydrometer, and the readings were spot on. The best part was only using a couple drops of wort. After fermentation you will need to do more calculations to get the FG, brewers friend has a great little program for this!

This is a great tool for the hardcore Home Brewer. It comes with 3 droppers instead of one like you would normally see with these types of products. One thing that surprised me is that it is lighter than other refractometers I've used in the past. There is no need to wait for your wort sample to cool down either! You can't go wrong with this refractometer.

I can’t believe I went for years without getting a refractometer! I have been wasting gallons of beer using an old hydrometer vs using just 3 drops of beer. And the Beerbrew Brix Refractometer only takes 3 drops of beer to deliver accurate results. I used to rely on an old fashioned hydrometer that cost about $5-$10. The price range for refractometers have dropped incredibly and this one is a real deal at just over $18; best value I have seen. No more wasting lots of wort for inaccurate readings. I already tried it on a couple of batches of beer and it seems to work well. When first I got the unit, it didn’t take much to figure out how to use it, so it is extremely user-friendly. The unit arrived already calibrated accurately so it was ready to go. It even came with a calibration screwdriver and three pipettes for taking samples. This seller included a nice solid carrying case and wiping cloth to keep it clean and well-maintained. Just a couple important notes when you se this model. This is a precision instrument so it is important to keep it clean and calibrated. After each use, be sure to clean the unit; if you leave on fermented wort in the prism it might get sticky and gum up the unit. Also, be sure to check the calibration on occasion using a couple of drops of distilled water. If you don’t have any distilled water handy, just collect a few drops of condensation from a boiling pot of water. You don’t need much! Happy homebrewing!

So excited I already brewed a batch of beer with this. I was pleasantly surprised by the size and sturdiness of the unit, (I've never owned one before.) Also surprising was the cool protective case it comes in (see pictures). That will definitely ensure the refractometer lasts a long time. Features I enjoy: rubber grip on body for ease of use, rubber cap on calibration screw to keep out moisture, smooth easy to use focus adjustment, easy to understand manual, plenty of accessories for immediate use. Cons: Described as having "automatic temperature compensation" but as far as I can tell the scale is accurate at 20°C/68°F and you have to make your own adjustments. This seems to be how they all function though so not a big deal to me.

Ordered on Wednesday and got it on Friday so that was nice. It was slightly out of calibration with di water but the small screw on top was easy to access and adjust. Any hydrometer is worth the price due to the small sample needed compared to a sample for a hydrometer. The eyecup is soft and blocks out all the light without pushing too hard into the eyes. With this, you won't need to take temperature into account. The whole assembly is nice and sturdy. I would try not to drop it but if it dropped, I would not worry too much. The rest under the glass portion allows the instrument to be set down and not have it roll so that was a nice feature. The double hinge on the top plate is nice to open up and clean and the rubber handle won't slip when it's wet.

I work in a specialty aquarium store and use refractometers on a daily basis I also sell very similar products to this. After I initially unboxed and calibrated it I used it on multiple tanks both Marine and salted freshwater in a variety of salinities. It is accurate and easy to read. Very straight forward operation. It is of good quality and has a nice carrying case. This product is a Great value!

Absolutely love this product. No need to draw a large amount of wort anymore. I only need a drop of it to receive an accurate SG or BRIX reading. Also, there is no need for a temperature adjustment. All you have to do is draw it through one of the theifs included and drop it on the front glass. Comes with a hard case to help prevent damage.
