• MAGNETIZED FOR SAFETY: While honing steels (sometimes referred to as sharpening steels) realign your knife’s edge for a sharper cut, they can also cause tiny metal particles from your blade to become airborne. Our honing rods are magnetized to prevent those particles from being inhaled or landing on nearby food.
  • BUILT TO LAST THROUGH YEARS OF USE: Noble Home & Chef’s honing steels are made of high quality, hardened carbon steel. Every material in our honing rods was meticulously chosen. You won’t find cheap plastic handles or soft, inexpensive steel. When you hold it, the weight immediately reveals how solid the construction is, and the design adds class to any kitchen.
  • NO RUSTING: Once hardened, our honing steels go through our proprietary chromium plating process, which prevents rust and corrosion.
  • RETAINS MORE METAL ON YOUR KNIFE EDGE: Honing steels are designed to be used often, but without taking off too much of your knife’s edge metal. This is contrary to knife sharpening steels or wet stone sharpeners, which should be used sparingly. (More details in product description.)
  • DISHWASHER SAFE: While it is not necessary to wash honing steels after each use, it is recommended you wipe the stropping steel down with a wet cloth to remove the metal particles. For deeper cleaning, our honing rod is dishwasher safe!

This steel is easier to hold and has the weight behind it so if I choose I can hold it against a surface while I steel a knife. The other steels I have were always too light and wouldn't stay in place. It has the potential to be a long term part of my kitchen supplies. I value a good, sharp kitchen knife and I steel them often. I have finally found a superior quality steel to match my knives.

Last Thanksgiving I was asked to carve the turkey. Our host offered her sister-in-laws knife which ," was just sharpened professionally," to carve the roast... Things did not go well. I looked around the kitchen and spied a honing steel and thought," ah, maybe I can cut this turkey yet"....Not! The steel was cheap and not hard enough to grip the edge of the dull blade. Well, let try the host's knife.... it was just as dull as her sister -in-laws knife, (what a surprise). If she just had a decent honing steel... . So, back at the ranch, I thought, I'll order the steel I use, and give it to them when we go back at Christmas time. I ordered the steel from Chicago ------- , but it didn't look like the same steel I use and looked like 90% of the cheap stuff out there, so I had to check it. Surprise,surprise....hah what a piece of junk. It was sent back. Started my search again, this time I looked for reviews with lots of happy customers. Noble seemed to fit the bill. People were saying, "hey this works!" and ," I like the feel in my hand and high quality look". With less than a week till Christmas, I ordered one and got it pretty quick. Opened the package, pulled out the steel and ran one of my knives over it.... ahhh , this works! I cleaned it off and didn't bother wrapping it , it was going to be put to use, very soon. Christmas arrived and they had a ham. This time I was ready. Using the Noble honing steel,(it does sharpen a bit, because it removes a small amount of the dull knife steel...but, not to worry, it's magnetized, so it catches anything coming off the edge...another kudos to Noble's design). This was a really dull blade so I had to work with it for a few minutes to get the edge back, but once I had finished, the blade was quite sharp and did a fine job slicing the Christmas ham. I plan on ordering two more of these steels, one for each of the in-laws. Great price, great product. -- Dave

I'm not a pro by far, have used Honing Steel Rods just a few times before and was not pleased at all. I have a knife set where the edge doesn't hold a sharp edge .This Honing Steel Rod from Noble Home & Chef works far better than any I have used before. It sharpens the edge with ease with less passes down the rod. I love the weight and balance of it . The handle seems to be a better quality than others I have used . I know it's all about the way it works than the way it looks but with this Honing Steel Rod you get both. I gave it 4 stars on Durability only because I have not owned it long. I think it"s a great value for the price and received it in two days, packaged very well.

This honing rod is a solid, weighted steel that feels steady and secure while honing my knives. It very good quality and great price. I really like that it is magnetic and does a great job collecting the metal shavings. I honed three knives and did not sharpen them...they did not need it it after the honing process. I am very satisfied with the 10 in honing rod...looks good too!

I bought one of the ten inch steels for myself and a twelve inch steel for my son (an aspiring chef). They arrived on time, and are exactly as expected. I took a day to to resharpen all of my kitchen knives and used my new steel to hone them. My knives are super sharp and I have rehoned several knives as I used them and they are still perfectly sharp. I have no reservations about recommending this product to anyone that needs a quality steel.

This product arrived within 1 day. It was packaged nicely and the product has a nice feel out of the box. It's cleanly put together and sharpens knives very nicely. I sharpened every knife in my knife block and then some with it, and they all had a fantastic cutting edge. They were all fairly dull to begin with and it only took about 3-4 swipes on either side to get a clean edge. I can't attest for the durability considering I've only had the steel for a few days, but I would recommend it.

This is a great steel. Even moreso for the price. It is very high-quality and has a nice finish and balance. It will not bring hopeless blades back to life, but that's not what it is for. It will keep good knives very sharp between sharpenings. Use stones to sharpen you lives or let a professional do it. Avoid grinder sharpeners. This will nicely restore a slightly dulled edge to razor sharpness with a few careful strokes.

I am particular about my knives and wanted a honing rod that would be comparable. This honing steel from Noble Home & Chef is easily the highest quality rod I have used. The handle isn't made out of plastic like most knife steels, and has a superior design. I can tell by the weight and construction that it is durable, and will last me a long time. I highly recommend this honing rod to chefs and home cooks alike

Amazing! I've used crock sticks most times I use my kitchen knives, but I'm amazed using this steel, less work and sharper. I've visited my local butcher and he always uses his steel and he cuts meat like butter. I haven't used it yet to actually cut meat; but have used it on a pocket knife that I use to open mail and it slide right through,

I was looking for a new steel to keep the edge on two Wustoff knives I recently purchased, but without spending a fortune on it. My wife still hasn't forgiven me on that one! I stumbled across this little gem. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it's made considering the low price tag. It's carbon steel, quite heavy and has a nice handle that's not at all plasticky. A day or two before it arrives they send an email with pointers on how best to use it etc. Such as a steel should be two inches longer than the longest knife you have. As I have a 10 inch slicer I may have to get the 12 inch as well. It's worked well on the other knives I have. It arrives well packaged in the black box you see. Well worth the money.
