Nice little instrument

I searched amazon for the "perfect" Kalimba for days. I do believe I found it. I purchased this instrument for my teenage daughter and she is very happy with it. Even when she is just thumbing the keys at random, the sounds are so soothing. The unit is a good weight and survived being dropped (on a carpeted floor) with only two keys needed to be re-tuned (easy fix with the included hammer). I do believe that this instrument is worth the purchase price.

Well made instrument for the price

Ordered this kalimba because the Hugh Tracey ones are way too pricey - this one's a lot more reasonable and I don't really notice any difference in quality. Doesn't feel like a toy and it has all the accessories advertised - tuning hammer, finger covers, instructions in English, cleaning cloth, stickers (I decided not to apply them), and a storage bag. Great value.

High Quality Kalimba!

I am extremely happy when I received this wonderful Kalimba. The wood is so beautiful and smooth. The tines were well tuned. I did not expect the thumb piano can bring such bright tone with a surprising sound. The sounds resonate in the hollow chamber beautifully. The accessories come with the calimba are extremely beneficial for first time players: portable package, stickers, tuning hammer and a booklet to help with learning. In addition, you could use YouTube to search some learning videos. You could learn and play it easily under these Kalimba accessories and those online resource will help too. I am very pleased with this purchasing. This instrument is really high quality, I highly recommend it. It’s better than I thought it would be.

Perfect music instrument and gift idea

I purchased one of these for my son to learn a new music instrument, and he's spent a lot of time learning and playing with it. It comes in a nice compact size, which I really appreciate given the number of toys he tends to wear through. I'm no audiophile but the music this kalimba makes sound very clear and gentle, I guess as opposed to loud and obnoxious. I can see myself purchasing another one of these later on as it can make for a very unique gift at birthday parties.

It is for people at all levels of musical skills

"Very interesting, as a person who doesn't know much about music, once was taken to a music studio by a friend who knows music very much. And we are moved by the beautiful piano songs sound of by a little girl in the studio with a thumb piano. So we started to have an interest in this piano. The friend found it so easy to learn, and it took only one hour to teach me even though I didn't understand music at all. After asking the music studio stuff, I learned about this Tanedar Kalimba, both my friend and I bought it at Amazon. Now we both fall in love with playing it. It is this Tanedar Kalimba that makes me feel that I can play music so easily and open my passion for music. I have to say that this piano is suitable for anyone with a certain level of music, a person with a high level, used to play, entertain and relax. People with low levels are used as an introduction to music and to relax. Really wonderful."

Lovely looking with a decent resonance :)

It truly is lovely looking. The wood is solid and smooth with a beautiful design. I really like that the keys are etched onto the tines instead of just being a sticker. The sound is nice enough and works well, especially with the centralized keys. The two outer keys are a bit stiff and don't really create the best sound. But if you use the two outer keys with one of the more centralized keys it creates a delightful resonance. Overall, I would recommend this for a first-time Kalimba buy or as a gift for someone.

Everything came very neatly!! It’s very nice in general!!

This is a nice kalimba in my opinion!! The edges of the tines are rounded even on the sides!! So in case you do somehow touch the side of the tine, you won’t get hurt!! Not a super important detail, but it does show that this is well crafted. The wood as well is very nice and polished, and has a cute carving design in the middle of it!! The tuning hammer also helps a lot actually. This isn’t a super big detail, but the silicone thumb protectors don’t fit fat fingers like mine. They just rip apart if you try and force it. I don’t really use the stickers since the note and the number are carved into the metal tines, but it is nice to know that they’re there!!

The tune is bright and rich! Great instrument for beginners!

The buildout is solid; the wood is smooth and nicely finished. The tines(keys) are well shaped to protect finger. Kalimba is a real musical instrument. These kalimbas are quite appropriate for everyone from beginners to pros. A newbie can easily pick out a tune on one of these in a few seconds. If you are an advanced player, you'll find the instrument has its limits and if you want to play complex music, you will have to use your imagination!
