After a year I still love this violin!

First, I purchased this violin over a year ago so I have had plenty of experience with it! I wanted to give it at least a year before reviewing it so everyone knows how it holds up over time. I also added my own photo. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ A lot of people are saying this is great for advancing students, which I suppose is true. You don't want to spend this kind of money if your'e unsure whether you're going to stick with learning the violin. However I was a complete beginner when I purchased this simply because it has always been my dream to learn the violin and I wanted to get a good sounding, quality violin without breaking the bank. I didn't want to buy a really cheap one because I was afraid the low quality sound would turn me off. So beginners don't stray away from this violin if you're like me! A good violin in my opinion is the key to learning it as well. You can play as good as you want but if your violin isn't up to par the sound just won't ever be right. This violin for me was exactly right. Every time I learned a new song I was giddy with joy because it just sounded so good on this violin. The violin sound is wonderful and smooth. It has a very warm tone. It looks beautiful and has a nice finish. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. It doesn't look cheap. I looks well crafted and expensive even though the cost is relatively moderate. And wow when I started playing it, the sound was amazing. I expected a slightly scratchy low-pitched sound sometimes typical of cheaper violins but what I got was a deep, warm, and resonating sound. It has greatly enhanced my learning experience! I highly recommend this violin! It's going to be a long time before I even think about upgrading because after a year, I still admire this violin every time I pull it out of my case. Also I recommend upgrading the strings to Dominant at checkout if you can spare the money. It will give you an even more rich sound. As an added plus to an already great product, Kennedy Violins are an amazing company too. When you go to checkout they offer multiple upgrades for strings, bows, cases, etc. If you upgrade your strings they even give you the option to ask them to install the new strings for you! The delivery was prompt, everything was in good condition and they offer multiple videos on all their violins so you know exactly what you are buying. They put a lot of effort into their violins and it really shows! Also this is a very good set up for beginners. You not only get a great violin, but they include a good bow, case, tuner, shoulder strap, shoulder rest, extra strings, a song book and rosin. You can order this and be ready to play immediately! I have been playing for most of my life, but took a break for 15 + years (college, marriage, kid, divorce, etc). I have an antique violin that I restored 25 + years ago that I recently brought out to play and found needed repairs that I can't afford. I have been looking at these violins for years wondering if they were decent. I decided to take a chance based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews. So glad I traded the rental in!

Was renting one and doing the math it would have cost us almost $1000 over a two year period and was well used. Glad we traded up after knowing the kiddo was into it. Good kit with everything you need to get started I believe.

Love the fact we could get this violin without being forced to go with the school option and saved 6-800 dollars. Good quality violin and the case was better quality than all the students with thousand dollar violins. I would purchase again.

Great Violin. Great Service.

I bought the Etude Violin as a Christmas present for my daughter (she was quickly out-growing her 1/2 size and needed a replacement). Her music instructor helped us pick this particular model and my daughter couldn't be happier with it. The pictures do not do the case justice - it is an upgraded case compared to the standard black nylon cases that come with most violins. As for the violin, the wood is beautiful (no plastic) and the sound is rich and clear; it even came tuned. Three months later, Kennedy Violins called (I spoke to Elizabeth) to confirm our satisfaction. What a pleasant surprise to know that the company was concerned about their customer's satisfaction! When my daughter is ready for a full size, we will definitely return to Kennedy Violins.
