I purchased the disposal genie off of QVC years ago. About 5 years ago we moved and it was lost in the move. I was very unhappy about this because this is one of the easiest products to use when removing water from your sink without letting small objects get down into the disposal. I've searched QVC and other places have not been able to find a replacement. A couple of weeks ago I found the Danco disposal genie on Amazon and ordered it. I didn't want to get too excited because I have purchased a couple of other products that look just like the Danco disposal genie and they were nothing like it, one of them would not hold the water in my sink from going down the drain. Today I received my disposal genie in the mail plugged it right into the sink drain, filled the sink up with water and it's working great. I have a lot of little kitchen gadgets that I don't want to go down my disposal. This is the perfect all-in-one tool for doing dishes. (I never thought I'd say that but it's true.) I'm really happy that I found it again. Thank you.

Danco Garbage Disposal Guard is a perfect fit!

Could not keep my kitties out of my garbage disposal! I don’t know what was so interesting in there, but nothing keep them from removing anything I used, not sink mats, not heavy ceramic bowls and not dish soap. It wasn’t safe or sanitary! I ruined a nice serving spoon after it slipped or was pushed into the disposal. I originally thought the cost was too much..but after having used it for several months, it’s worth every penny!! It stopped the cats because it isn’t easily removed, it’s weighted. It stops everything from accidentally falling in and it’s actually easy for me to remove if needed. It’s very well made, sturdy and pretty! I like it!!

I updated my similar item to this. Love the way this keeps my silverware safe from the disposal monster. It's a handy feature to just give a twist and you have a stopper.

excellent product

I purchased this product from the big tv shopping station a while back, and low and behold, they stopped carrying it. I lucked out when I saw this on Amazon. I purchased 3. Won't be without it. It is large enough but not too big for my sink (an older sink) I can turn it and stop the water from draining out (nice touch). I suggest putting it in the dishwasher every 1- 2 weeks. I won't say it has a shelf life, but sitting in the sink day in and day out, I thought, get a new one once in a while. I won't be without it. As little as it is, I won't be dropping stuff down the sink any more. Hope this helps.
