Had to replace my old stainless steel plunge and read thermometer that bit the dust. Tried this folding (the fold turns it on and off) BRIGHT RED plastic job ... and I am still using it years later. It gives perfect read outs ... although it’s still up to YOU to stick the probe into the right part of your meat. And if you press the right button ... it lights up with an led. Really Waterproof!

An instant read thermometer is great for grilling/smoking and, basically, all-around kitchen cooking. I mistakenly left the unit outside when I finished smoking and it rained that evening. I thought the unit was ruined since the probe was extended and the unit was on. The following day, to my surprise, the unit had an auto-shutoff and it functioned without any complications when I powered it on.

Best way to grill well

I love this thermometer! After getting my grill going, which is a radient grill, I always worry about food being cooked well enough. I had tried odd fork thermometers before but they never last and are a pain to store. I decided the size of this, it's chart printed on it, and the magnetic back made this a win. I was right. I've been able to cooks meats to preferred levels perfectly and it cleans up easy and stores conveniently. It even came with a spare battery.

Same item sold at higher prices!

This thermometer can be had at higher prices... The difference is a lighter and cheaper boxing, however, you get the same instrument, same performance, same features and some cosmetic changes. In addition, you get an extra button battery. I have ordered several at different prices for my relatives and found out. Most important, this thermometer is a much better choice in my opinion, when compared with other makes at up to three times its price, due to the many desirable features it has, both physical and technical. I do own one of those expensive ones for quite some time and I should know.

Accurate, quick, foldable magnetic thermometer

This thermometer works well. It was shipped with batteries in it and was usable right out of the box. It is nicely designed, with a probe that extends from the thermometer, and the probe folds back into the thermometer when done using it to turn it off. The temperature registers within a few seconds and seems accurate as best I can tell. The thermometer has a built in magnet which is super handy to keep it on the fridge or side of the grill. Water resistant feature is a plus, seems a good idea that thermometer can survive a quick drop in water, though I haven’t tested that out yet!

Awesome Thermometer for Film Developing

I am very happy with this thermometer. This is the third digital thermometer I've bought for keeping track of the temps of chemicals for film developing. It's not quite an instant read like the descriptions say, but it gives an accurate reading within 2-3 seconds which I think is very reasonable. I like the large and backlit display and that the whole thing automatically powers off when folding the probe back in. I have not fully tested the waterproof-ness of it, but working in a sink developing chemicals, it has been lightly splashed a couple of times with no ill-effects. If anything changes, I'll be sure to update my review, but for now, I am very happy with this purchase.

Awesome tool !

I am a home inspector and I had been looking for a digital thermometer that I could use to measure water temps at kitchen faucets , etc. I had found some name brand ones that were not reliable and very cheaply made. This design is great with the fold out probe because it fits nicely in a work pouch. Wow, is this a great tool ! There is nothing about this thermometer that I don't like. The power only comes on when I fold out the probe , which saves the battery life, and it reads the temp instantly and accurately. In fact I am going to buy another one for my grilling on the BBQ.

*UPDATE * I received my new thermometer and it works. Thank you for fulfilling my warrenty claim. ______ So I bought this back in April (2019). It worked for the short amount times I used it. I went to use it today and as seen from the attached picture, it doesn't read correctly anymore. It keeps giving over 400° and up to the HHHH (max temp) reading regardless. In the picture this is in a cup of ice and reads 498.4°F. I tried to recalibrate it but that did not work. I contacted the company direct as it says to do in their instructions. So I am waiting on them to see if they actually fulfill their warranty.

Let's keep the expectation s in check here folks.........

Overall, this seems to be a solid unit. It's not as well made as a Thermopen, but it also doesn't cost as much as a Thermopen. I have a Thermopen (AND LOVE IT), and I bought this to keep at the girlfriends house so I don't have to drag my Thermopen around all the time to make chicken or Turkey burgers on the grill.. So it has a very large display, and it lights up which is nice when you are outside at the grill. I can't see this lasting if you constantly drop things but I have only had it a month so we will see. The thermometer has stayed accurate and my food is juicy and delicious. Worth grabbing to keep around in the kitchen for temperatures. For the price, you can't beat it.

Nicest meat thermometer I've owned (and I've owned a few)

If you need an instant read meat thermometer, you'll be pleased with this one. We've tried a couple of different brands over the years, and been generally happy with them. But this unit has several advantages: 1. Easy to turn on (flip open the probe, it's on) 2. Easy to read (nice big display) 3. Accurate (and you can calibrate it if necessary) Only had it a short time, to I can't comment on longevity, but so far very happy. It appears to be well made, and I anticipate it will give me good, long use.
