great cup, drinking medieval

I bought 2 30oz cups, my husband and i love them, we use them any chance we get,and shipped fast. The smell people talking about not a big deal its just the glue at bottom of cup just do the lemon trick they say to in the email they send you after purchasing and gone or mostly dissipated. I would definitely buy another. I love how each cup is unique to it shape and color like a thumbprint.

Bought this as a birthday present for my dad (an avid Game of Thrones fan) and he absolutely LOVED this tankard!! I had read a few reviews complaining about the color, but ours was great! It was primarily black, but had bright silver-like streaks all over it. I didn't notice a smell that some other reviewers were also complaining about either. There was, of course, a smell of it being new, but once we washed it and filled it with beer it disappeared. The wooden bottom is cool as well as the bag it comes in. My dad has named his tankard "The Horn of Plenty" and now I'm jealous that I don't have one too.

Great Choice

Looking around for a good, sturdy, horn mug, there are a lot of choices to choose from, but the customer service alone makes me glad I chose Norse Tradesman. So far, the mug is great. Initial quality is great, I'll be sure to update this post if I encounter any issues down the road, but so far so good. The tankard looks great, it holds just over 20 oz, but variance is to be expected with this product, you can't very well tell an Ox to grow a thicker horn. There is a slight smell to the horn, but this is another variance between mugs, and it's very faint, not enough to taint the taste of your beverage of choice. But again, you're drinking from a horn. I don't think many vikings were complaining about the faint smell of horn while they were downing grog. Overall a great buy, and I'll definitely be returning. The natural variance just tempts me to get more and see all of the different, unique styles.

A+ customer service

I bought a mug back at the end of 2016, it is now the beginning of 2019. Ever since I had it, it's had a manure like odor. We tried washing it, letting it sit, vinegar, all sorts of things. Eventually we thought well it'll be a good display piece and maybe it'll air out. It was a cool display piece but the smell never went away. Contacted the seller and they gave me a couple more suggestions on cleaning. Tried those and it didn't get any better. They then sent me a free replacement. Two years after I purchased it. I was shocked but I really appreciated it because I wanted to drink out of my mug and the replacement is even better than the one I purchased and has no smell. Huge win. These guys deserve a sticker.

Great NATURAL product, excellent service

Purchased The Mjolnir mug for my husband, beautiful design and good product. I was provided with excellent customer service and highly recommend this seller and their wares! As some reviews mention, there can be a very slight 'smell' but this is **natural to the materials being used**, and after some use faded to nothing. (We did use the lemon wash, which helped, but a bit of time seemed to be the key). This is an item to be treated with care, gentle washing, proper storage etc - would not recommend for taking out and about, camping etc - there are better items for those uses. However it's just perfect for enjoying ale etc around the house. Some people seem to be quite picky in their reviews on this product - I would like to point out it is made out of natural materials, and given that, it will have natural imperfections or maybe slight issues here and there. When was the last time you tried to make a mug out of a horn? We are used to our things being made out of modern materials and expecting pristine perfection is just not natural to the nature of this item, or even it's 'spirit'. Proper care and contact with seller will resolve this.

This is my 2nd purchase and so I’m a “repeat customer” I bought my first House Stark Viking mug and I love it. And now it’s Christmas and my younger brothers are big Game Of Thrones fans as well and what better gift to give them then their very own mugs as well. As advertised, I bought it, love it, and now it’s going to be gift wrapped. I know my brothers will love it

Good product, excellent customer service

2 stars for fine products, 2 stars for even better customer service, and 1 star for making me laugh. Ordered 2 tankards for graduation gifts. When they arrived, one had a quarter-inch gap around 3/4s of the tankard, the other had no bottom at all! The warped, wooden plug lay separately in the bottom of the bag. I emailed Norse Tradesman. They sent a response the next day. All they asked for were photos of the defective tankards and Amazon order number. The following day, two replacements were on their way, no charge. They arrived today and, despite some alarming abuse to the box by UPS, the tankards were in excellent condition and even more handsome than what we originally received (the direwolf engraving really pops out from black horns). Finally, Norse Tradesman gets points for its sense of humor. The young lady I corresponded with began her response with "Greetings...These are ill tidings indeed." After providing instructions, she signed off, "With honor," gave her name, and title: Norse Tradesman Shieldmaiden. Considering that her surname was Hispanic, (I could be wrong, but I don't think the Norse raided down to the Iberian Peninsula), I enjoyed the unexpected smile. Good company to deal with. They turned a bad experience into a good one, and made me laugh on top of it.

Truly fit for a warrior!

This is a fantastic mug! Received it promptly. It does come with a rather noticeable odor, probably from the epoxy used to seal it, but a simple hand wash with warm water and soap took care of that. I was able to start drinking the kings mead right away! The natural colors and shades of the horn give it a really unique look. The handle is part of the horn that has been bent back, so it does have a little flex to it. That being said, it's a tough little mug! Definitely a great quality, hand made item that will last a long time with proper care! Now if you'll excuse me, it's time to drink, in celebration of the victory that is to come!

I ordered this mug after I saw Jon Snow take drink from a similar tankard at Castle Black. I thought to myself, if a horned mug is the preferred drinking vessel from which the Lord Commander takes ale, then a horned mug I shall have. I came across Norse Tradesman’s mug and I knew it was the mug for me. It holds 30 ounces of ale! Thirty! The rest of the petty mugs I came across hold a mere 20 ounces - not even enough to get Tyrion Lannister a buzz. I placed my order and not but 2 days later did I received the polished Jug. I filled the jug with ale and my two roommates instinctively took to their knees as I placed it to my lips. Just the presence of this mug established my dominance as the unquestioned alpha male. I am now the Warden of my 600 square foot 3 bedroom flex apartment, and my orders serve as law. One of my roommates was showering and I needed to shower so I opened the curtain showed him my new mug. Recognizing my power he silently stepped out, still covered in shampoo, and offered me the tub, and his undying loyalty. Now let’s talk about the product itself. It’s a large beautiful mug that is polished, sturdy and durable. Shipping was easy and the packaging is great! Usually I throw away all products’ packaging but the pouch it came in is really cool and unique! In conclusion this is an amazing product, which should be owned by every man woman and child in the seven kingdoms. All parents should buy this mug for their children and allow them to take it to school for show-and-tell. It will drastically increase the child’s popularity and ensure he succeeds in life. Without it, parents are leaving their kids future to chance. Order on brothers!!

First off, I did not receive a discount or a free mug to write this review. I ordered 4 different horn mugs from 4 different vendors to see which was best. My roommates, my son and I are doing a Viking theme living room and I'm in charge of the drinking vessels. All the horns were cool but this one stood out. It is delivered in a nice box with very good bubble wrap making it come in perfect condition. The inner bag is cool and rustic and would make a great gift. When I opened it, it was everything i hoped for, big, sturdy, and awesome looking. There was almost no smell and it was very well lacquered inside and out. I couldn't wait to use it!! I poured my 3 12oz ales in and they all fit perfectly!! I was impressed to say the least. It was easy to drink from and got lots and lots of complaints from friends that came over. I will be ordering many more horn mugs from this company. If you are looking for quality at a great price look to further!! I have to say again I paid full price for my mug and couldn't be more happy!!---update. My first mug did have a leak but the company took care of it and made it right! The follow up and customer service from this company is remarkable! I have ordered a total of 3 mugs now and love them all. They are all different and beautiful in their own ways.
