Good basic beginner set
Pretty impressive for a basic microscope with no fine focusing! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the optics, even at higher magnifications. The top light is only usable at lower magnifications, but I tried it with a penny and hair and got a lot of detail. The best part is the number of accessories the kit comes with, including stains and blank slides to make your own slides. The prepared slides could be a bit more uniform and concentrated in the middle of the slide, since it gets a bit annoying to have to move the slide around the stage to see everything, but for the price point I wouldn't expect anything fancier. (Note that if you're getting the kit for little kids, the slides are real glass and will require adult supervision for safe handling.) Would be a great gift for little kids as an intro to microscopes!

Great for kids!
I bought this microscope for my nephew’s 8th birthday and I’m so excited to give it to him and to spark an enjoyment of science. I checked inside the packaging and everything looks to be good quality. There's only coarse focusing, so they won't be able to see every last detail, but I think they'll mostly be playing "pretend scientist" anyway while they're little. I like that the kit includes so many accessories to help them get started. Really looking forward to seeing their reaction!

So fun for school aged kids.
My son is 7 and this microscope is perfect for his age and up. It comes with glass pieces that have salt, or some type of bacteria on it, but we have also played and looked at hair, flowers, leaves, etc. Really educational.

Works great
I purchased this as I just needed something to run goat fecals under. The McMaster slides I use prevent me from being able to use the longest zoom but it’s not that big of a deal. I am still able to accomplish what I need with it and for the price it is great!
