Powerful tool, bad sanding pad
Powerful and smooth. The lights are not too bright but still is quite helpful when you are working around areas that is dim. The box is very useful with extra spaces. Update Sep 12, 16: I used the tool for a light sanding work on the door jamb and on the door sides. I read on the reviews that the sanding pad which has velcro is weak and easily melts, so I was very cautious to use it properly and move it around to ensure it won't burn. But after a couple of minutes I smelled a burn which at first I thought might be coming from the paint on the door jamb, but I quickly realized it's the sanding pas started to melt on the top. I'm new to the world of tools and I'm not sure if this is that happen to other brands sanding pads too or its only this one. And also I don't know if this happened because I used it to sand off the oil based paint on the jamb or not, but at the same time when I used the tool to sand the top side of the door, i could still see the pad melted slightly at some spots. Update: July 2017: Ive been using it for several jobs so far and it never failed my expectation. still powerful and solid. I changed my rating back to 5-start again now. I gave it 4 start just because the sanding pad is not strong and melted. After doing some research I found out that it is a common issue for almost all sanding pads that come with any other multitools too. Also after several attempts I learned that how to use the sanding pad in order to get the best results and not burn the pad due to the excessive heat. All in all I believe it deserves a 5 star rating.

Everyone should have one of these
I bought this primarily to do the remodel work on my laundry room. I needed to modify the stud configuration in a wall where it makes a corner with another wall to insert a pass-through cabinet. My brother, who is in the construction business, said I should rip out the entire part of the wall I needed to modify and build a new one. He claimed any other way of doing it would take too long. Doing it my brother's way, I was looking at a couple of days worth of work to rip out, rebuild, apply new mud and texture, and paint. With the Sonicrafter I was able to cut the drywall, slice off the studs, and trim everything for replacement. The new studs easily fit into place, and the entire job took me less than an hour. The tool is powerful enough to quickly cut through a 2x4. In fact it's a little faster going through framing lumber than my reciprocating saw, and is much more controllable. It also can be used in much tighter spaces than my reciprocating saw. On the down side, I hit a nail with this tool and the blade almost instantly became noticeably dull. My reciprocating saw easily cuts through both wood and nails. I probably wouldn't use the Sonicrafter in demolition work. This tool will use many different brands of blades and accessories, but the Rockwell brand blades are readily available and are offered at a fair price. I purchased a wider wood cutting blade at Lowes to make it a little easier to cut into a corner. Since Lowes carries the Rockwell brand I bough a Rockwell blade. I did have several other brands to chose from that also would have worked. In my opinion, the best feature is the ability to cut through something that is adjacent to, or butted up to what you are cutting without damaging the part you want to keep.

Good tool, good price!
I am remodeling our house and "needed" a tool to simplify the demo. I took it out of the box and put it to use cutting out drywall from the ceiling edges, and behind some corners. I was even able to finesse it to shave some 2x4's that were sticking out beyond the others, by 1/8" Performed beautifully. First I was surprised by how beefy this tool is, it's solid. It's also a little on the heavy side, could wear your wrists down after some time. I'm not going to use the sander stuff, everything I've read alerted me to this one downside. I bought some Bosh blades for back-up, and they fit just fine. Blades are easy to change, and you don't need a separate tool to do this (no lost chuck-keys!). $99 Come on. Tough to beat this deal!

A good quality, versatile saw
I was laying new laminate flooring in my house and purchased this to undercut the door jambs so the planks would slide under them. It did a fantastic job at this. I was able to undercut each jamb in about 30 seconds, and is a no-brainer compared to using a manual saw. It may seem like an expensive tool for this job, but if you have a lot of undercutting to do, you will be glad to have this tool -- plus, I discovered many other uses for it. I have used it to cut 2x4s and plywood (both end cuts and plunge cuts), PVC pipe, and even metal tubing using the metal blades. I'm sure it has other uses too, which will no doubt come up in the future. This is a rugged, heavy-duty saw, maybe not suited for everyday use by a pro, but if you are a DIY homeowner like me, this is one of those tools that, once you use it, you wonder how you ever got along without it.

Excellent tool for a good price
I am a seasoned DIY'r and do most of the maintenance and upgrade of my older house with my wife's valuable help. Through the years, I have used 4 different oscillating tools, all from well known manufacturers. I purchased the F50 a couple of months ago when I began reconstructing grandma's 20x20' deck (lots of demolition work). I have also used it for other outdoor work at her and my house. I find the F50 to perform as advertized, especially when coupled with the newer Bosh carbide blades with which I cut through deck nails without any fuss. It is so powerful that I have the sense that the speed of cutting is mostly limited by the blade. In dimensional lumber, the 1 5/8" usable depth carbide blades sink completely with little effort. Paying some attention, I was also able to cut some rough but acceptable joints. It is less noisy and more stable than every other similar tool with which I have worked. The blade change mechanism is very convenient and decisive, and there are applications where the variable speed is a definitive plus (in general, lower speed = more control and less friction). The price is more than right, especially if (like me) you buy it during a sale (less than $100). The F50 feels like a very mature tool with all the power and convenience necessary to competently perform all the jobs for which it was designed, which makes it a real pleasure to use. I would wholeheartedly recommend it as one of the most useful, smaller power tools to have in the tool box.

Excellent tool to have for home or work.
Have used this multiple times for all kinds of jobs. I work in the HVAC and construction industry, so this tool makes a big difference. It has saved me a lot of time and money, plus it takes the place of several tools, depending on what you are doing. I did a lot of research and decided to go with the corded Rockwell, for the quality and durability. Plus don't really care to have to worry about batteries, not for this tool anyways. I would definitely recommend this to other people to buy. I know other people in my profession that also have Rockwell Oscillating tools and they absolutely love them. The blades aren't to cheap, but I figured if you are careful and mindful of what you are doing, you shouldn't go through blades too often. I don't use mine everyday like some may, but this tool I am sure would be good for everyday use.

I regret not buying a tool like this years ago
I regret not buying a tool like this years ago. Once you have this, many odd tasks get easier. If you're cutting into a wall or cabinetry to install a wall plate or similar this is probably the easiest way to do it. It cuts like a knife through butter, which is to say, smoothly and without requiring much clearance or tool movement. This product in particular is a good value for the occasional user. It's strong and powerful, well built enough for someone who isn't using it commercially. The case that it comes in is sturdy and holds many attachments, and fits compactly on the shelf. My only complaint is that the case is just a *tad* too short to comfortably hold the tool with a cutting head on it, so you'll need to remove it to store.

Excellent tool
This is my first oscillating tool, so I can't comment on its comparison to other brands. I can say I am totally blown away by the capability of this tool. I've had to cut a lot of holes in existing drywall for electrical receptacles, ethernet jacks, exhaust fans, etc. and it went through it like it was butter. I've also notches pieces of wood with similar success and cut out old copper pipe with no problem. I don't know what took me so long to get one of these. I have more plans for it, and seeing how versatile it is and its potential uses, I am glad I spent more to get a quality tool rather than an economy item for 50 bucks less. This tool also appears designed to fit pretty much any additional blades, so there's money to be saved down the road not being forced to buy a certain type of blade only made by them. Thank you to the other reviews for the recommendation of this tool.

Excellent Value, Great tool!
I shopped for a multi-tool for myself, a DIYer homeowner, and for a Xmas gift for our professional (low-voltage specialist / installer) son. I have a cordless (Craftsman 12v) already, and we both wanted a high power corded unit that we wouldn't have to buy $80 batteries for! I looked at 5 different tools, bought 4 & handled them at home. Purposely did not look at the Boch, or Fein because they were priced higher than budget. Looked at Makita because they are dependable and well made, DeWalt for same reason, Porter Cable, Rockwell & Dremel (because he had suggested that was what he wanted). After reading all kinds of reviews on various sites and handling them, I kept 2 to give him the choice ... this 4 Amp Rockwell F50 Sonicrafter & the Makita TM3010. After looking at them both, he agreed with me that the Rockwell stood out for many reasons. I have since been using my Rockwell around the house for various projects, from some metal cutting fitting cabinets into a wall (wood/drywall), to grout removal on the bathroom floor. This really GREAT! The following is a general Pro/Con, but also some comparison to the Makita which is also a very good tool, just not as good a value for the $$. Pros: Very low vibration; Very low (relatively speaking) noise level; Superior multi-blade brand tool-less clamping, no additional disks needed for any brand blade; Clamp lever is very easy to work and fast; Well balanced in hand, easily held; Best power; Soft start gradually increases to speed; 2 LED lights, one on each side of head lighting cutting zone well; Moderately priced for features; 3 year warranty. Con; Speed variable not as slow as Makita, runs 11 - 20,000 OPM. But this is a pretty minor point in my experience. The Makita was the 2nd choice. Pros: Best speed range (6-20,000 OPM); very low vibration; very low (relatively speaking) noise level; multi-blade brand tool-less clamping; well balanced in hand, easily held; good power; soft start gradually increases to speed. Cons: It's blade changing mechanism is not as 'friendly' for quick change of ALL brands of blades like the Rockwell, requiring more work to loosen the lever and use of multiple clamp disks for different brand blades. Has no LED lights on head to light work zone; Cost more than the others; only 1 year warranty For the value, I recommend the Rockwell!

Great Deal
I was going to get a cordless. Then I ran into this deal on the Rockwell F50 kit and I am very happy that I did. I have been using the sonicrafter for a lot of projects, it does a great job and it's fast. Now I don't use the hand saw more than I have to, as this took its place. Like I said I was going to get a cordless but for the price this is a much better deal, just plug it in and you are ready to go and go with out running out of power like you would in a cordless. The F50 kit comes with a nice tool box to store the Sonicrafter and the blades. You don't have to use only Rockwell blades as I have been using a lot of other brands blades and they all seem to work with the RK5141K.
