very accurate stud finder

My old stud finder was partially accurate. More often than not I had extra drill holes to fill after missing the stud. This one actually shows the center of the stud which my drill found every time. No extra holes to fill and no additional paint touch up. The metal finder located a water pipe to avoid; something my old one could not accomplish. Happy with this new unit.

Reliable and Easy to Use

Just what I needed. A reliable stud finder, easy to use and all functions worked with accuracy! I was able to find studs, nails in studs and electrical lines. Be sure to scan your wall more than once for studs as the unit may pick up other reads but when it gives you the center notification you are definitely on a stud. I hung two side by side garage cabinets, two 6ft ladders and a metal organization rack for brooms and such. I bought this stud finder based on the reviews and went back and forth looking at all of the pros and cons and I’m glad I did. I have had other stud finders in the past and felt that they were hard to understand and kept having to go back and read the directions on how to use it each time. With this TH510 stud finder you don’t need directions it is so simple. Highly recommend!

Upgraded version is great.

I bought the upgraded version and I love it. It leaves little if any room for error. I compared up against an old unit I had and the difference is amazing. I used the 1/2" drywall stud finder mode on 5/8 drywall or fire grade, a thicker sheetrock and it worked like a champ. I located wires in the wall. Nothing bad to report. Why did I ever wait so long. Read the directions and I think they have a video if your unsure.

Works Very Well and Accurately

I've always had the basic type of light with beep stud finders in the past. When my past one finally broke I figured I would get myself a higher end unit. I received this today and immediately started using it since I had some projects already lined up. Wow! The accuracy for the wood studs is awesome. It shows me the edges and the center pretty much right where it is. I haven't tried the metal stud yet, I'll be doing a few of those for my job in a couple of months (if I have issues I'll update here). I also tried out the AC detection on a wall where I know where the AC lines are. Seemed to detect them well there as well. I recommend this even for the average home project user.

Easy.

I didn't know what to expect, since I had never used one of these before; the instructions were easy to understand, though with some grammatical errors here and there. First I tried it on the 1/2 inch and I could only find studs near the edges of the walls; but, after switching to the 1 inch depth, I found many more throughout the expanse of the wall which was good; I was beginning to think I'd have to hang all my frames on the edges. Battery installation was a snap and the calibration a breeze. Overall a simple, yet handy tool to have around when planning the distribution of paintings, artwork or simply family photos.

Accurate, Easy to use, & Time saving.

I am not sure why i took so long to find this awesome stud scanner. I've used other scanners in the past and they were not always accurate. I gave up finding an accurate scanner, so i used both the old knock on the drywall method to find the stud and the scanner. With this new scanner by Tavool, i no longer have to guess. Its accurate, easy to use, it locates electrical lines, and saves me time. I hope to use this tool for many years to come. Shipping was rocket fast, and it came with a 9V battery. don't waste your time with other scanners, even if they are cheaper. You get what you pay for. I am happy with my Tavool Scanner.

Plenty of features!

I purchased this item to replace another Zircon stud finder that mysteriously stopped working after a few years, as well as to supplement another multi-LED-style stud finder that I also use. Compared to the multi-LED stud finder, I found the Tavool stud finder to be MUCH more precise at finding exact edge and center or a stud (the other just gives a general idea within about 1/4 an inch). I ended up placing about 30 screws into studs, and didn't miss one. Pros: Reliable - (nothing worse than a stud finder not finding the same center each time. I didn't have this problem) Easy to use - (easily guides to the center of a stud, and shows which direction to go if you need to back up) Multiple depths, between 1/2 and 1-1/2 inch (1/2 and 1 inch was the sweet spot for my needs) Detects AC power You don't have to hold the button while you are scanning - (much more convenient than some others that required you to push the button--or in some cases, 2 buttons--the entire time your are scanning. Helpful when on a ladder!) Cons: Calibrates itself every time you scan, which about 2-3 second initially. This adds time, but I assume this also helps with the accuracy I mentioned above. Overall, this was a perfect replacement for my needs.

Finally a stud finder that works

We own a couple stud finders and were getting frustrated by the false/changing readings, so we decided to order this one on a lightning deal. We are so impressed. It actually allows you to set the depth of the reading based on the thickness of the wall the signal has to penetrate. We had to go through tile and drywall and the last thing we wanted was to drill a hole that was a mistake. It worked perfectly and we had our tv mounted securely in no time. Additionally, we noticed it can locate steel studs, rebar, and electrical conduit. We found it easy to use and it will be our go to stud finder from now on.

Works pretty good

Just finished up a remodel with my old stud finder. It was hit or miss actually finding studs do to the plaster walls in my house that varied in thickness from about 5/8" to 7/8". Finally got fed up with it and purchased this new one. Pretty sweet little stud finder. The 1.5" depth seemed to work best on my 60's plaster walls. It is nice because even in stud mode the red light will indicate when there are electrical wires present. It definitely was going off where I knew wires existed. The AC wire setting is pretty neat too. I played around with that setting where I knew wires existed and it was pretty accurate, especially for a bonus feature in my opinion. I say bonus because I was in the market for just a stud finder. I'm not sure it would be the greatest for tracing wires through walls all day, but for the occasional wire it would work great. My only regret is waiting until the remodel was finished before giving up on my old one and getting this new one. I can't compare this to any of the other recent stud finders that came out, but it is night and day difference compared to my old one. I'm especially glad I went with this newer version that has the 1.5" depth mode. Seemed to help a bit with the inconsistent plaster.
