Heads above other survival food for natural/manmade disasters. Tastes like it just came out of oven!
This is a popular meal at this company and at my house. It is delicious and it comes in different sizes. Just try it and you will be pleasantly surprised. Why stock this? If the electric grid went down due to a solar flare or attack our stores would be out of food in several days and if you dont carry cash it would be impossible to purchase things with a credit card. In short, I believe this could be a lifesaver BUT the best thing is that the food is delicious! (If you think I am being a bit paranoid please view some documentaries on Amazon). This is also good for camping, snow storms, flooding and other times when you can't get out of the house--the smell when it is preparing reminds me of an Italian restaurant!

If you want it to be super delicious, make sure you use BOILING HOT WATER!
The pro pack is 2 servings so $8 is a great price for a single pouch. Don't be worried that something is wrong with the package... Most Mountain House packs are not vacuum sealed. All of the Mountain House Lasagnas are vacuum sealed so they look quite a bit different from all the other flavor varieties. Here's a good tip for you... Make sure that the water you use is BOILING. If you don't use BOILING water, you're not going to be satisfied with the texture of the food. 1. Open the bag 2. Take out the desiccant (oxygen absorber) 3. Pour in a little less than 2 cups of BOILING water and close the bag 4. After 4 minutes, open the bag and stir the contents 5. Close the bag again and wait 10 more minutes 6. Open the bag again and stir stir stir 7. ENJOY!

Gourmet food in a pack.
Mountain House take instant dehydrate meals to the next level! I bought one after reading so many raving reviews about it - after trying the lasagna with meat sauce flavor, I understand what all these hype are all about. There are chunky minced meat pieces in the lasagna. Good balance of tomato based sauce and Parmesan cheese. The trick is to watch the amount of water you add to it - I personally add less water than what is instructed so that the texture is more cakey and chewy. I find that if you put in the exact amount of water as stated on the pack, you end up with a very soupy and watered down lasagna. I went on to buy 10 different flavors from Mountain House - this goes to show how yummy it is - gourmet food in a pack.

Great taste
Having never tried a freeze dried meal I wasn't sure what to expect. After giving this a try I was very happy with how well it tasted. Even more so I thought my wife wouldn't get near the stuff but after taking a whiff she told me to give her half of the package. We both loved it and will be buying more to keep on hand for when we need a quick meal.

Tasty & easy
Really good considering what it is. It was great to have an easy warm meal option while camping/backpacking. And it was pretty tasty!

Great quick and easy hot meal
These are as good as any microwave meal I've ever had and nearly as easy to make. Our camping was in a pretty remote area so we packed these and I was not at all disappointed. We used water from the river next to us ran through a lifestraw and then boiled in a Jetboil which were both also bought on Amazon. In about two minutes you have boiling water, and about ten minutes after pouring it in the pouch you have really decent meal. All three kinds I tried (lasagna, beef stroganoff, and chili Mac) were really good. The best part is any extra you may have after the trip are good for 30 years. So you'll have plenty of time to use them later or stock up on them for any other long term cause.

The lasagna is very good and I highly recommend it
NOM NOM NOM I use Mountain House products at home for everyday use as well as on the jobsite and on the trail. The lasagna is very good and I highly recommend it. If you are looking for a good meal anytime, anywhere you can make water hot, you can have a tasty and nutritious meal in minutes (I must admit, the speed and ease, coupled with the price point, almost makes it cost-effective to eat freeze dried!) These have crazy shelf life, are designed to take up very little space in conditions where space is a premium, and can be eaten straight from the package. Hmmmm....win, Win, WIN! This unbiased review was made even though the product was purchased at full price and was not given gratis or at a discount for a favorable review. Man, I WISH some of you camping/hiking/fishing/kayaking shops would send me free stuff to evaluate....

Surprisingly tasty and great for emergencies & non-cooking days.
Bought these for emergency use and tried one to see how it was. Color me surprised, it was pretty darn good! This is more like crinkly fettuccine in a tangy (not sweet) tomato based meat sauce, but it is decently seasoned with chunks of tomato and parmesan. I added a little Cholula hot sauce before the boiling water for a little kick and this was as good or better than anything I've had in an MRE, and even better than a number of meals I've eaten in supposedly good Italian restaurants. I've ordered more to keep on hand for those days when cooking anything more than boiled water just isn't going to happen, they're about the same price as a Mickey D's meal, a lot healthier and much tastier. One thing to note: add a few tablespoons of extra boiling water and let this sit for at least 17 to 18 minutes to fully hydrate, otherwise you'll have little crunchy bits here and there.

Make sure you have some salt or chili garlic sauce-which has sodium in it-and some garlic powder for a great meal!
Definitely a winner for me but make sure you have some kind of salt, I didn't have any salt but used the next best thing Chili Garlic Sauce from HUY FONG FOODS which you can find on Amazon. I just used this for eating at home to see if it would make for good emergency food or just easy quick to make meal, added some granulated garlic before putting water in and added the Chili Garlic Sauce after. It's a really great sauce that mixes/goes well with a lot of different foods not just for Asian and since it doesn't need refrigeration you could take it camping, it was just the right amount of sodium plus the same bit of chili that some Italians use in their sauces, add it in increments to your taste, it will blend in perfectly you won't feel like you've made it an Asian meal. Now as for this lasagna I think they should've added more pasta, it seemed to be more meat than pasta, maybe it was just the pouch I got or maybe people complained it didn't have enough meat but overall a really tasty good meal and I was glad I had that sauce and the garlic powder which balanced everything out, it's really only enough for one person but I didn't have a salad or garlic bread to go with it so maybe if you had those it could be stretched to feed two people but if you're hiking you most likely wouldn't have those extras. It has cheese but it's not too cheesy and it has enough sauce, I let it sit for ten minutes and chose not to stir it after 4 minutes which the instructions say is optional, just stirred it once after adding the water and sealing the pouch like the instructions say to do, whatever you use to eat it with will be coated with cheese but it's so good that it's a small price to pay. I definitely recommend this meal!

Fan since I was a kid
Mountain House reminds me of backpacking with my dad when I was 10 through high school (I'm 28 now). So, when I convinced my girlfriend to come backpacking with me, I told her freeze-dried food was part of the experience and picked up a variety of these. While there are a few brands to choose from, Mountain House has always been the standard for me because: 1. They actually taste fantastic 2. They're very easy to make 3. They're surprisingly affordable When its pouring rain and you just hike over boulders with a 30-40lb pack for an entire day, Mountain House meals are easy to prepare and taste better than they should. Don't change a thing, I can't wait to share these same meals with my kids when they're old enough to camp. Just make sure you're patient and follow the directions - if you dig into them too fast you'll burn your mouth and the food will still be crunchy.
