Other than the added shoulder buttons, controller feels just like one of the original 6 button pads it is modeled after. I have original hardware and compared them side by side, and to me, both the button presses and dpad match the original pretty exactly. I highly recommend it if you need a usb 6 button layout.

Fantastic!!! Everything about it is fantastic. It works perfectly with our raspberry pi, it works perfectly with our super retrocade, and it works perfectly on our computers! It’s exactly the same as buying a brand new Sega controller today in a store. Bravo Retro-Bit!!!

D-pad to "feel" better than the 8BitDo M30 controller. Of course the M30 gamepad is bluetooth, so they're not exactly a straight-across comparison.

Just like the original, but now with usb. Love these controllers especially the clear blue. Great response time, buttons and controller feel like the classics I used to own.

I own several original sega genesis six button controllers. Aside from the usb port and the mode button being in front I cannot tell the difference between this model and my many original sega genesis six button controllers. The buttons are responsive, the dpad feels excellent, solidly built and the packaging is a throwback to a bygone era. Superb job done by retrobit with these controllers.

I was a Sega kid during the 16- and 32-bit days, and hold the original Genesis 6-button and Saturn controllers in high regard. With that has come some hiccups in post-Sega-console years, with controllers that attempt to ape the Sega "house style" of pad, only to come up short in many, if not all aspects. When Retro-bit was announced to be working with Sega to create new pads based on the original plans, I was skeptical at first. However, after receiving it, it very much is the 6-button pad on which I remember dumping hours upon hours. The D-pad and face buttons have the same crispness on action I remember, and the added shoulder buttons, while not quite as excellent as the Saturn's, are totally serviceable, and certainly a fair shake better than the "Mode" button on the original. The USB-A connector is attached to quite a long, sturdy cable, so there isn't much of a concern with it getting gnarled, which is very good. This is not really a complaint, considering the entire draw of this is accuracy to the original, but as it turns out, my hands have grown somewhat in the last 25 years, so the ergo is simultaneously good and not comfortable, if that makes any sense. Compatibility covers more or less any PC game or emulator you can throw at it, as Directinput and its more standardized current counterpart Xinput are both supported and can easily be switched by holding the Start button for a few seconds. Retro-bit proved themselves to me, it's a great controller for 2-D and fighting games, and I anticipate the rest of their Sega partnership line.

I've been enjoying the heck out of this thing with Genesis games on PC and modern fighting games. I also just found out that the pad also supports the upcoming Genesis Mini, which is great news, since that only comes with the three-button controller variants. The cable is long, quality is high, and it's just a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

One week review so far for the see-through blue USB gamepad --- This is an excellent controller for emulating games on PC and Android. Your mileage may vary depending on the emulator and how it handles USB controllers, but for most systems that can handle this type of button and d-pad layout, you can't do much better. The extra L & R buttons at the top are a welcome addition, and work well for GBA, GBC, SNES configurations as needed. The build quality and the extra long cord are solidly manufactured parts. This controller FEELS just like the original 2nd gen Sega Genesis/Mega Drive controllers (not the smaller little kid ones), and the d-pad is PRECISE. Fighting games and any version of Tetris you want to throw at it across platforms works exactly as you input it. I could not comprehend any lag that would affect my input and reactions. I will update when I have more Android, PC Steam and other console games tried out. The packaging that it comes in is high quality and makes you momentarily think they had a time machine and teleported the controller to your hands. Retro-Bit needs to build in Flash USB memory or a MicroSD card slot, so we can take some games with us no matter what computer we decide to play on.

I just received this controller today and for an hour tried a few of my favorite Genesis and NES games via RetroArch and I must say it is by far the best USB controller I have ever used. If you're a fan of the original 6 Button Genesis controller, which I own and am a fan of, and you are looking for something to use for emulators this is a must buy. Of course, I cannot speak to longevity but this thing feels as solid as the original. It feels the same in the hands, and even the cord has a nice soft, yet heavy, feel to it. I got the blue color and it looks awesome.

Has the same feel as the Genesis 6-button that is considered one of the best controllers of all time. Moving the mode button to the center was a great move. I used to use an original 6-button with a usb converter on Retropie and would sometimes accidentally hit the mode button and accidentally restart the game, or save when I didn’t want to. This new controller doesn’t have that issue. Adding an L and R button makes this equivalent to a Saturn controller. It looks and feels great. Highly recommended.
