I have been wearing the Speed Cross Salomos for about 8 years now and they have not failed me!! I had the 4's (non Gortex), and now wore them out and bought the Speed Cross 5 in a 9 regular. They fit perfect!! I live in Tucson and an advid trail runner. I went out for a 6 mile off/on technical trail with all sorts of terrain to really put these to the test! I felt very confident they would do what was expected and they sure did! Tested them again today, and felt awesome!! I feel they have a little more toebox room, which is nice. I have somewhat narrow feet with moderate arches, but did not get any blisters or rub spots! Sometimes socks can cause this more than the shoe or not cinching up your shoes enough. Making a little adjustment can help! I also wear neoprene, soft ankle supports (win-win; keeps out the dirt/sand like a gator and support and protects your ankles), so the shoes fit great with or without the ankle supports! They are super grippy! I did not have any sliding issues! The 5 also has a mesh on the top to help keep out the sand/dirt and the toes seems more protected by the rock guard on the shoe:) All in all, I really don't have any complaints. For me: 10/10!! Marie

The last pair of Salomon shoes I purchased were far too narrow and crowding on the toes. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so that doesn't work for me but I followed the advice of my husband and decided to give them again go. These shoes are AMAZING. My feet arent crowded in my shoe, my toes aren't being touched, and I am walking better than I have since my old Salomon shoes had to go. If you were turned off by the earlier models of Salomon shoes, this model is perfect. I love that they are all black too because I can wear them to work. Thank you, Salomon. I've missed you...

I work ten hour shifts at a hospital. INCREDIBLE SUPPORT. I have purchased at least seven pairs of Salomon SC over the years, starting with SC3, including a pair of GTX. These were manufactured in China. Unlike the pair made in Vietnam (substandard), THIS pair has fabric which is more flexible and breathable. Great arch support! Padding around the ankle is fuller, non-abrasive to the skin. These are narrow compared to XA pro 3Ds. I order 1/2 size up for all SC versions. Unlike previous iterations, SC 5 does not have the strip of fabric labeling speed cross on the tongue. Lacing system easier to tighten, hope they will survive life of the shoe. Well worth the small increase in price!

These are my favorite hiking shoe at this point in my life. I love the very simple lacing system, and they're super comfortable. They're also not bulky and fairly streamlined, which can be difficult to find in a women's hiking shoe.

I love these shoes. I use them on the trails with my dog. A great shoes for slippery surfaces.

They feel softer across the top of foot but still stable, the tongue doesn’t chafe like I used to get with lots of uphills in the sc 4. Not sure if it has a rock plate but either way it stood up to a 50k mountain rocky run which my feet didn’t feel beat up at all. The lace garage seems easier to cram lace pile in faster somehow. Bigger lugs look cool but didn’t seem to perform any different. Still overall my favorite trail shoe.

The fit was great! Good arch support, and as a pronator I probably could have done with a wider base - but that detail aside, these shoes were great right out of the box. I usually take a 6.5-7 in Saucony, but reading through the reviews here I ended up going with a 6. Perfect fit with a little room at the front. But the biggest feature: these shoes have more pockets than my skirts! I couldn’t figure out what to do with these excess length tightening straps at first (in my snowboarding boots, I would have tucked them at the side, but that’s a whole other sport). It wasn’t until I took a closer look that I found not one, but two pockets on the tongue of these shoes! One just under the pull strap for the tongue, which fit the tightening straps perfectly. The other is larger, which I’m assuming is for a key. And these pockets are on both shoes. Great grip on the trails and extra bounce on the roads. All in all, I’m loving my purchase so far!

Very comfortable more cushion than my 4s, I love that they are almost entirely black which is better for work the only way they could be a little better is if the black were truly dark black like my 4s the new is a bit more off black, still im very happy with them very comfy even after 10 hrs, they did take a few days to break in.

The soles are super sturdy and wrap up around the edge of the show helping to protect from dirt and water on the trails. The traction is some of the best I have found and the soles are sturdy enough that they will last and they are really really sticky when going up and down loose trails. I'm loving these. My old adidas trail shoes don't even compare considering already worn through most of the sole on those in less than 5 months. These new Salomon shoes are my new go to.

Third pair of these. I was hoping for a white design and got these. I hope they keep making more neutral colors but I have some bright pairs and they are really stunning. Get lots of comments and compliments. What I am hoping for is that they slim down the women’s shoe design. It’s a bit large looking. Still a great fit and they have built in orthotics which I sometimes take out and wear with other shoes because they are ortho-lite. The tread is like a hiking tread and feel like you’re bouncing when you walk. I can barely stand to wear Nike anymore but I hate that these are so chunky looking. Other than that, I would still invest in these for travel, walking, hiking, running. Needs no breaking in for me as well.
