Beautiful and functional lame for the home baker or pro!!

I've had this bread lame for about a month now and I can confidently say that I love it. Prior to this, I had a cheap plastic one, that while it did work, didn't feel good in the hand so I never did anything except a quick slash. And prior to that I was using a sharp knife. The Bread Bosses lame is a HUGE step up in my bread game. First off, it's beautifully made, and comes in a nice wooden box to store it in, not to mention the leather cover for the blade. These together make me much more confident storing the lame. It also comes with 10 blades, so I can't imagine when I would need to buy more. I've used it on about 6 loaves of bread at this point, and with each bake, I've found that my slashes are exactly where I want them, and at the intended angle. It's also very easy to clean since there are no notches in the wood anywhere. The only thing I can think of to improve upon is that it could be a few grams heavier. But that is an extremely personal preference, so I can't knock anyone for that. All in all, for the money, this is a top notch lame and I don't see myself needing another one ever again. Next up is trying some bread art now that I have the right tool! Great job Bread Bosses!

Excellent Lame For Safe & Precise Scoring

This replaces my previous lame--a wooden Starbucks coffee stirrer. Nicely balanced and ergonomic, it's ideal for getting the right angle necessary to get a good ear. A good too at a good price.

Sleek and easy to use!

As soon as I unboxed the Bread Bosses bread lame, I couldn't help but appreciate the light, ergonomic feel in my hand. Added bonus that it's visually appealing. Comes with 10 Dorco blades so you can begin experimenting with your loaves immediately to take them to the next level. I was able to effortlessly score my loaves without the blade snagging on the dough. Once done scoring my loaves, I found cleanup was easy and the bread lame comes with a leather cover to prevent any unwanted nicks/cuts on your hand.

Great lame for a beginner home baker

As a beginner home baker I enjoyed using this tool. The design was well thought out, the lame was easy to use, and the boxing and extra’s are also noteworthy. The bread lame is well weighted, that’s to say its not too light or too heavy. The wooden handle feels comfortable in the hand and the length is not too long. The design gives the user a lot of control for both long, deliberate slashes and for short deft cuts for the more intricate designs. The lame includes blades, a leather cover for the blade in use (this comes in handy), and a neat and attractive wooden storage box. I am very happy with this purchase, and I can already see an improvement in my scoring skills.

For professionals- big improvement over traditional lame

I’m a professional baker and have always just used the normal lame tool, which is just a sort of bare bones stainless steel stick that holds a double edged razor. I was honestly skeptical I’d like the Bread Bosses lame, with the wood handle. I thought it might be too much girth but actually, it let me control the cuts a little more ergonomically since it’s roundedand I can make micro adjustments just with my fingertips. This is especially helpful on deeply angled cuts like on a baguette. It’s very lightweight, too. Since I travel with my knife kit to various kitchens and bakeries it’s super convenient to have the wooden travel case with silk lining and leather cover (safety first!) for the razor. I can snug it up with my knives but the box protects it and even stores extra blades, a sharpie and thermometer so I have a whole little bread kit go-bag!

Excellent quality bread/dough lame!

Very happy with my purchase of this beautifully crafted bread lame. Gorgeous, sturdy, and easy to hold wood handle. Favorite way to slash my dough before baking is using a curved blade - and this helps me create the perfect slash for a proper bread "ear". I like my double edged razor blade to slide on the metal part of the lame - so I actually took a very fine sander to the very edges to allow the razor to slide on without catching on the metal. Now the blade slips right on, no problems at all. Very happy with my purchase! Highly recommended

Works beautifully at home or in the bakery.

This lame has beautiful wood grain, a smooth handle and the blade seems to sit a bit lower than others I've used making it feel less like a tool and more like an extension of my arm. It comes with ten high quality blades and the case makes it easy to take it to the bakery and back again.

Amazing value and extremely functional lame

This lame had many of the things I was looking for. I love that it has a wooden handle, but yet has two open sides of the blade. Most higher quality wooden lames are one-sided, which can also inhibit how deep you can score a loaf. This also allows me to switch the blades less frequently. The weight and length of the handle worked great for me, and didn’t feel clumsy like some skinnier handles can. I sometimes bake in multiple locations, so having the box is a huge plus for me. It has a beautiful case and the leather cover for the blade. It seems to help make it safer and protects the case. My previously lame had a notch that held in the blade at the top of the handle, but it protruded too far and would cause double scoring lines sometimes, which was my biggest problem with that lame. This handle allows you to adjust where the blade is, and doesn’t cause the double lines. With the extra blades and the box that this lame came with, I immediately felt like I had gotten my money’s worth. This is obviously a tool made by bakers. I would recommend it to anyone getting into bread, or experienced bakers alike!
