Great little self-contained unit
This thing works surprisingly well. It's self-contained, hand-held, and with it's own 4xAAA internal battery power supply. The detector probe is on a 25 ft cable. Easy to set up and begin using immediately. The hand-held size of this unit lends itself well to kayaking or small boat use. Also nice to take along for deep, end-of-pier pier fishing. Decent LCD display. The power unit is NOT waterproof, so a little protection in a ziplock bag is not a bad idea for kayaking or other splash environments. One can also toss a spare set of batteries into the ziplock. Very pleased.

Easy to transport
It is surprisingly accurate

Works fine for what it is.
Lets call a spade a spade. This is a low-cost fish finder meant for occasional use on small boats such as a kayak. And for that it works fine. Setup was easy and although not the best screen in the industry, it also works fine. It's not the most accurate thing in the world, but for finding a school of fish, I found it to work fine. The depth gauge works great and is actually quite accurate. All-in-all for the asking price, it's a decent device. If nothing more than just a portable depth-finder.

Works fine
I kayak a lot in a small bay ao it was fun to put this fish finder to the test. I should note that the bay is not very deep and the depth shifts a lot when there are storms so it's nice to be able to see areas which were once deep but are not any longer so I can avoid them. I was impressed by the ease of use of this unit. I just popped in 4 AAA batteries and was good to go. I put the monitor in a waterproof bag (clear bag) to protect it from splashes and let the transducer hang over the bow. I did have to allow for the wired transducer connection, so the bag wasn't entirely closed. I was amazed at what was beneath the surface in the way of fish and turtles. I gave it 5 stars because for the price, I felt it worked really well and even a dummy like me could use it. I will say, however, that I wish the directions were a little better. Despite the sun shine, I could read the monitor, which was good. It doesn't weigh much and feels like it might not take a lot of abuse, but so far, with reasonable care, it works.

fun device, decent price, byo batteries
My dad has camped at the same point for more than 50 years, so it feels like a second home to all of us. It was fun to take this out in the kayak and "see" the bottom. Previously, we'd always guessed re: depth, location of rocks, etc. There are plenty of turtles and fish, so it's fun to use with kids. Also hoping (no luck to far) to find some dropped items and mooring markings. For the price, it's worth it just for a fun activity. We recommend keeping the screen in a bag to avoid splashing and taking extra batteries with you---they should last a few trips but you never know.
