Pros: Amazing, Fun, Awesome, Retro Con: D Pad is a bit sticky (see the 2nd to last paragraph for details, it’s not THAT bad) This controller is phenomenal! I’ve gone through too many 3rd party controllers to count over the years. They mostly worked ok. However, they always had some feature I really wanted, but were lacking elsewhere. Whether it was the button response, ergonomics, the joystick tension, the reliability of connection, there was always something annoying 8BITDO really nailed it with this one! It has all the functionality you’d need from a modern controller, but with a nostalgic look that my friends will get a kick out of when we do multiplayer It did take a minute to get used to joysticks on an old school SNES shape. This controller is nowhere near as ergonomic as say, an xbox one controller or even the joy cons in their controller grip, but that’s not the point. It’s a fun controller that works perfectly well and is easy enough to get used to Easy to set up and haven’t had any issues playing Breath of the Wild with it. The motion controls even feel smoother than those in the actual joy cons! Maybe my mind’s just playing tricks on me... If I were to complain about one thing, it would be the D pad. It’s not terrible, but if you slide your thumb from one direction to the next one, it tends to stay stuck in that first position. For example: in a fighting game, where you have to quickly fire off a combo with DOWN, FORWARD, Y, you might just get stuck in the down position. Could have used a bit of tweaking, but overall this controller works so well that I’m not really worried about it Great job, 8BITDO! I hope you do something similar with a Gamecube style controller design at some point. Maybe something like the Hyperkin Procube, but better ;)

This is the perfect companion to a Raspberry Pi running RetroPie or Recal Box. The exact height and width of an SNES controller, but a little thicker to accommodate L2 and R2. The analog sticks aren't as tall as a Dual Shock or an Xbox One's analogs, but they're really good. Very well built, too. I haven't had to recharge it very often, either. Battery life is very good. The only thing I wish it could do was have six face buttons along with the four shoulder buttons, so it could be a perfect Sega Genesis controller, but that's the norm these days. It does everything else great, up to and including PS1 games with dual sticks.

This is by far one of my favorite controllers of all time now, previously I have purchase a SNES30 and I loved it, but it lacked additional buttons that many games now a days require, in comes the SN30 PRO, it fixes every single problem... is what I would say if there was a problem but the standard SNES30 did the job this only ADDs functionality to a already perfect controller and its ABSOLUTE GENIUS. The analog sticks are just perfect, smooth and responsive, the DPAD is now even better its so good that I am absolutely going to pickup a standard SN30 just because the DPAD has been improved so much over the SNES30 , and the LR buttons are now probably the greatest shoulder buttons I have ever used, the lack of analog doesnt matter at this point the L2 and R2 buttons are SO SATISFYING to push over and over again, its perfection, 8bitdo may have created what I personally consider the greatest controller of all time, at least for me it is. That doesnt even scratch the surface of how compatible the controller is with pretty much everything thanks to both its USB C connection and the Bluetooth 4.1 connection, my only gripe is it wasnt Bluetooth 4.2, that would of been even better. Now the only bad thing I could possibly think of would be the fact the one I received had a defective USB C cable, I can't charge my controller at all and I also can't use it in wired mode, this is pretty bad and honestly I've only ever had this problem with the Flat cables 8bitdo includes, my SNES30 had the same problem, they should just use a standard round cable, the flat ones seem to have a very high failure rate. All in all I love controller and I will absolutely be buying a Standard SN30 and the new SN30 PRO PLUS when it comes out, definitely recommend to anyone looking for a controller.

The materials and general feel of this controller are special. It doesn't feel cheap, in fact it looks and feels like my original Game Boy. The colors are so nice, the buttons feel exactly right, the texture on the d-pad matches the Game Boy exactly. Two thumbs up to the product development team of these controllers. When friends come into contact with this controller they always take a few minutes to admire the details and feeling. The only bad thing I have to say about this controller is that the 8bitdo app is terrible. Focus on the hardware guys.

I love this controller. I was psyched to buy this controller for two reasons: 1) because it looks like a Super Nintendo controller, which is one of my favorite designs for retro gaming, and 2) because it looked like a great all-in-one controller that could work with a variety of devices. First I'd like to discuss the design and then I'll discuss how it works with all of my devices, but if you're looking for a quick review: it's a great controller that plays nice with all of my devices, and it feels great to use. The controller is pretty comfortable and all the buttons are surprisingly easy to reach. I'm going to be comparing it to a Super Nintendo controller from this point on, as that's clearly what it it takes it's design cues from. It's angled in a way that makes it slightly more ergonomic than the SNES controller, which makes the added buttons and joysticks feel pretty natural. The buttons and D-pad are a lot clicky-er than an SNES controller, which might be good or bad depending on your preferences. I liked the clicky buttons and pad in theory, but when playing, they're definitely a little rougher on the hands than the squishier buttons on a worn-in pad. Time and extended use may change that, though. The build-quality is fantastic. This feels like a premium controller, from the plastic used on the body to the rubber of the joysticks, evertyhing looks great. The gyro-aiming works phenomenally on the Nintendo Switch, and the vibration is great. I love the new, more original design of the SN30 Pros, they look very premium. The only downside of the design is one I can't really fault the SN30 Pro for: the joysticks, while perfectly usable, are a bit awkward to use on a design that was never meant to have joysticks. It doesn't bother me because I purchased this controller with the mentality of: I'm mostly using this controller for 2D games that use the D-pad, and having the joysticks for 3D games is just a bonus. And the joysticks are comfortable and responsive, so with that mindset, I'm very happy with them. It's a bit awkward, but very usable. Here's a list of the devices I wanted to be able to use this controller with: Nintendo Switch, Mac, Windows PC (dual-booting in Bootcamp), and with my NES and SNES Classic using the 8Bitdo Retro Receiver. That's 4/5 devices that this controller had to work well with, which is asking a lot of one controller. To get to the point: this controller works great with all of them. Pairing between devices is quick and fluid, or at least as quick as each individual device will allow. It even includes a handy list of shortcuts to set the controller to pair to each device on the back. I recently begun using it as my primary controller in Windows and I fell in love again with how fluidly everything worked. Windows detects the controller as an Xbox controller, so you'll have to mentally re-map the buttons in your head on the fly, but I got used to it pretty quick. This controller exceeded all of the expectations I had for it. It's a great little device that feels good to use and plays nice with all of my devices. The only flaws it has are things that are just inherent to it's design, and I think it's a fair compromise to have such a fantastic reinterpretation of a retro classic. 8bitdo knocked it out of the park.

I bought this 8BitDo controller to use primarily on the computer, but I did see it also worked on the Nintendo Switch, which was a great addition for use. I picked the one that resembled the old SNS controller as that was easily a favorite controller of mine back in the 90's. I have the original SNS wired controllers and used that for comparison, and to me all buttons seem to function very similarly, The plastic seems a bit different but not sure if it is better or worse, just different, I did mark on star off for material as I was not sure if it is good or bad. This controller feels the same in my hands as the original, so the feel and grip is about on par with the original SNS controller. I do not have a mac and no longer have an android device so I could not test it on those, so reviews of it working on those devices would need to be written by someone who has used it on those. Game Play: I used it on several Nintendo Switch games as well as some of the classic Namco games on the Switch all of which worked well with no controller lag. I used it for Minecraft on the Switch and the Windows 10 version and both worked exactly the same with no issues. I have also used it for playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 on the computer with flawless operation. If there is any lag due to it being a wireless controller, I did not notice one bit. Battery Life: The charge life is better than the charge life on my Switch Pro controller. I cannot say for certain the exact time difference, I just know that my son needed to charge the pro controller while I was continuing on with this one and both had come off a fresh charge just before use and both with the same amount of play time as well. I did not play straight through as I do not play games 24 hours straight, so it was over several days of testing so, even at rest there seemed to be minimal battery drain. Suggested Improvements: My main complaint is something I knew going in and that is it will not work on IOS devices, there is a possible change to the device that is basically a downgrade you could get on it to make it work but why would I want to downgrade this if it works great on all other platforms I have tried it on. So my suggested improvement would be a new update that would not be a downgrade but instead would be an upgrade to have it work on IOS devices. There are so many games that I would love to use this on that I have on IOS. I do not want to by a controller that is specific to those devices when I have this controller that I would love to use on them. Overall: Overall the controller was better than I expected. I had heard of 8BitDo for some time now, but I figured it was all hype and that the end product would be very cheap, but it does not feel that way at all. This feels like a mainstream product that even has the coloring right to the original SNS controllers. Some people might not like the ergonomics of the controller, but if you do like that nostalgic feel of an SNS controller while playing newer games, this controller will not let you down.

Older reviews and older answers from the seller said the SN30 Pro doesn’t work with iPad Pro, but it does as of 2020, via Bluetooth, with no wired connection needed! I just followed the same steps that are specified for MacOS. There are YouTube videos that demo the connection process, too. Make sure you hold down the Pairing button until the lights on the front edge of the device start moving from left to right—it took longer than the instructions’ estimated 3 seconds. After you connect via the Bluetooth settings on your iPad, the controller gives you one quick rumble to confirm. After that, the next time you turn on the controller, it’ll pair automatically (assuming you don’t unpair it), and you’ll feel that rumble each time. For the iPad games that I tested, the A/B buttons are typically reversed (Xbox-style), so just go by feel. That said, not all iPad games support an external console. And some games only support a few of the controls. This is only my first day using the SN30 Pro with my iPad. So far it works with these games: - Asphalt 9: Legends, by Gameloft - Grand Mountain Adventure, by Toppluva - Welcome to Bloxburg (a Roblox game) - Parkour (a Roblox game) - Ultimate Rivals: The Rink, by Bit Fry - Beyond Blue, by e-Line Media - Alpine Ski III (partially), by Sievlar But it doesn’t work with these (which seems to have more to do with the interface design choices of these games, not with the console or the iPad Pro): - Just Freesking, by Rndrln-games - Free Skiing, by Red Bull - Snowboarding the 4th Phase, by Red Bull - Old School RuneScape, by Jagex

Got this for Switch and love it. The d-pad is a huge improvement over the Joy-Con buttons, which is the main reason I got it. My only issue is it is a little cramped to use, and my hands are probably average size. The dog-bone style is very reminiscent of the SNES design, as is the color scheme. The face buttons are a bit on the clicky side, but nothing too obnoxious. The sticks function as intended with the only potential issue being the right stick's close proximity to the Y button... not that there's much to be done about this apart from making the whole thing bigger. The shoulder buttons feel great to use. Overall, this is a solidly built piece of hardware that feels really good to use. It's not the most ergonomic thing out there (I wish now I had followed my gut and gotten the Playstation modeled version with the grips instead... oh well...), but this is an excellent primary controller with a nice nostalgic touch to it. Well done, 8BitDo!

This is one of the best controllers I have ever used - it feels just like an original SNES controller... even better. Sticks are very well placed, so they are easy to reach and do not get in the way of classic retro gaming, while still giving you all the bells and whistles of a new controller. Dpad is great and buttons are both top notch. I seriously do not have a single complaint about this controller. I have used it on Windows, Android, Linux, and Switch with 0 trouble getting it to connect. My only minor regret is that I went with the Super Famicom version (4 different colored buttons) over the SNES version, as I feel like I would get more of a nostalgic feeling with the concave Y and X buttons (I grew up on SNES). However, since this is such a great controller, I will definitely be picking another one up at some point in the future, and then I will go with the SNES version.

I was a bit skeptical at first because I have not had good luck with other similar products. But, as soon as I saw the packaging I knew this was going to be an awesome product. The controller feels great, not too heavy or bulky, and not too light. the joysticks are a great quality rubber and feel great on my thumbs. The buttons are tight and have a great tactile touch to them, they are not loose or move around when pressed. The dpad is also tight and has a great tactile feel to it. I did not know that I could use the controller with a USB cable, so that was a great surprise. I use Linux and was a bit reluctant to buy because of failed attempts to use Bluetooth to pair other devices to my computer without any hassle. This controller has a cool key combination that allows users to pair to a Switch, Windows computer, Android, and Mac. I used the Android setting to connect to my Linux computer. The connection happened flawlessly and once the controller is turned off and back on, the controller automatically pairs and reconnects. I am very happy with the purchase, I will be buying another.
