This is a well built. It is made from metal but yet still very light for travel. Any good sign of the quality and a good design is the USB-C cable attached to it. It is very thick and sturdy, more than any other usb-c cable I've seen. Probably due to the power it needs to deliver when USB devices are charging off of it. It also comes with a carrying pouch. I connected it my macbbook pro. The USB port worked nicely to both charge my iphone and to sync and import photos to my laptop. The HDMI port worked very nice to connect to my HD TV, I was able to either mirror or extend my display. I watched a movie on my laptop and it displayed on my 55# TV with HD resolution. I'll be watching all movies this way. In summary this has every port you need and is essential for the macbook. This is a much better value and more useful than buying Apples usb-c to HDMI converter for nearly the same price. I noticed in the user manual it said that data transfer to ipad pro is not supported so be careful if you need to use it with that, Otherwise, its perfect.

I was lacking USB ports on chromebook and was looking for a portable expansion hub while travelling. While the product was fairly new with only few reviews, I have decided to give it a shot. So far it did not dissappoint. First, and most important for me was the ability to connect USB devices (flashdrives for me) via USB 3.0 ports on this hub (there are 3 of them). I did not measure the transfer speed so am not able to attest for the manufacture's claim, but I did not notice any speed difference while reading/writing files to a connected flashdrive as opposed to flashdrive connected to a dedicated USB slot - after all, I was not nor I am chasing the fastest possible connection - real world file transfer speed is very comparable to a dedicated USB slot and that is good enough for me. Second, this hub does include a port for wired LAN connection. I did not have a chance to use it, but I do see a benefit while travelling since most hotels provide free internet access, but Wi-Fi usually sucks in the remote hotel rooms. Possibility to connect via wired LAN is a huge bonus. Third, I was really surprised that this hub does include USB-C charging port. One is able to connect hub to laptop's (or chromebook's in my case) USB-C connection and still be able to connect their phone to hub's USB-C charging slot! One less charger to carry with me - every ounce less in my backpack, the better I feel :) I have not had a chance to utilize HDMI connection provided by the hub, so am not able to comment about it (most higher end laptops do have HDMI port anyways, so not sure about the added benefit, but it is there). SD card (and Micro SD) card reader works just fine though again I did not measure the file transfer speed. One thing to note is that all the functionality provided by the hub is in a very (I mean really very) small compact package. It is almost the same thickness as my chromebook and not bulky at all. Time will tell about its longetivity, but I am very happily impressed with it. A+ in my book.

I am using this as a docking station for my Mac Book Pro and Samsung S10+ both have only USB-C ports. For me it stands out for 2 reasons: 1. Connectivity: Just look at all the ports this thing has... it's even SD card slots for connecting the memory card from my camera. Also the regular usb ports definitely help connect peripherals such as keyboard and mouse or printers. 2. Can be used as a DeX connector with my Samsung S10+ you just need to have it plugged in the power for DeX to work (which is as expected). Finally the build quality is great so I definitely recommend this if you are using devices with USB C.

I got this for use with a Windows 10 laptop mainly to add an extra monitor, Ethernet, my mouse, and a card reader from time to time. It does all that stuff flawlessly. I plugged it in and it worked within seconds. No problems with drivers or anything like that. All the things I need were there. It’s solidly built and I’ve dropped it a few times without any damage. Really a great hub compared to those I’ve used before.

This my second UtechSmart hub, the first was a six in one. Using this one with my Dell P94G Chromebook, which has USB-C port for power and I/O. The advent of the USB-C interface allows a smaller form factor computer to easily attach multiple interfaces when their needed. This little hub has a HDMI video port, three USB 3.0s, a USB 2.0 for a mouse, two SD card slots (one std, one micro), and a Gig-E Ethernet port. The USB_C input and output allows the hub to be powered while passing power thru to the USB-C output to charge the computer. Well packaged, and nice for traveling. Pass through power, HDMI, and USBs features work great. Can't to try out the rest.

This works really well on my 12" iPad Pro. I just noticed the print in the product description that says "not compatible" for my iPad, I don't know why the description says that because it seems to work fine! I was looking for a hub for awhile, and didn't want a hub with flush-mount USB-C connector - I was afraid I'd break the connector with something big and inflexible hanging off the end. I used the hub while travelling for the last two weeks to import photos from a Nikon DSLR SD card...worked great. I travel with an Anker two port Power Delivery (PD & +IQ) charger, and the PD works well through the hub. The hub also works with power supplied by the iPad (i.e. no external power). When I got home I tried the Ethernet port, microSD, HDMI, and a small Alesis Q25 USB-powered MIDI keyboard plugged into one of the USB 3.0 ports. These all worked great too. When Ethernet is plugged in, an additional "Ethernet Adapter" item is shown below "WiFi" in the Settings app, and you can control the connection settings there - the default (DHCP) worked fine for me, and the gig speed is nice. I didn't try a 4K HDMI display, but regular high def screen mirroring seemed to work fine. The Alesis worked great on GarageBand app and MusicStudio app...a good music travel companion device with the hub.

It is truly amazing what this little port can do. I see why it has become so popular to put just USB type C on new laptops. Its somewhat rare that I need to use any of these ports so why waste space on the laptop (or MacBook) for these connections. I am most impressed by the speed thing can function at and thus the ability to pass HD VIDEO from this tiny connector. Truly stunning. A lot of laptops, like the new Macbooks, are only coming with USB type C ports now. For those who still need other ports, this hub has just about all you could need. I bought this hub for two main reasons: it has an ethernet port and an HDMI port, allowing me to plug into a wired connection in addition to an external monitor with a single hub. In addition, the USB ports are really helpful as the majority of PC accessories, like drawing tablets and game controllers, still use USB type A. For those who are doing photography, the memory card slots are also very useful. At the $59.99 price point this hub isn't exactly considered a low cost item - but doing so much with one port is well worth it. It is absolutely a good VALUE for all the features it packs - if you were to buy comparable items from Apple you would end up spending upwards of $150 on the individual adapters (and you could not use them at once like this can) WARNING: This is NOT Apple branded and it does not appear to be APPROVED / endorsed by APPLE in any way; Having said that USB C standards are universal so there will be issues with using this in your Apple device and it will not void your warranty in any way!! Back to the review: As for the phisical build, the unit is indeed sturdy (it is made of metal) and it comes with a little carrying case if you choose to use it. This item comes HIGHLY Recommended by me and my customers! - Does Exactly what you expect it to do! Its small enough to tuck into you laptop case and forget about it until you need it. Attached you will find some samples of the speed of a transfer AND the video quality (Both are impressive)

Plug and play. It looks great. The size of the device is very portable and the build quality is excellent. It doesn't get hot at all. Because aluminum case dissipate heat very well. Great product. Also, come with carrying case.

Just what I needed for my laptop. Very functional with a lot of different ports: - 3x USB 3.0 ports (not the cheaper/older 2.0) - Ethernet port - HDMI - USB C charging port - SD card slots (regular and micro) - and a 2.0 mouse USB port All ports work as advertised and finally my small laptop can have a variety of ports. Love the HDMI from this hub as my laptop's HDMI port is broken, so I can still extend the screen as needed. I use the micro SD here and there as I have a dash cam that uses one, and I just download the video files as needed. Seems like a pretty solid build and quality. Comes with a nice caring bag which is a nice touch. Would recommend

I’m a Network Engineer who travels for work so I can never have too many tools in my arsenal. This Hub is a great addition due to the multitude of options it gives me in one device. The build quality is good, not great. It doesn’t feel cheap, but the housing seems like it should be heavier than it is. It will certainly get some dents over time, I’m predicting. The HDMI and Ethernet ports both work great and transmit clearly. I didn’t test the full capability of the Gbps speed, but I assume it’s correctly advertised. I’m currently using it to charge my Lenovo T470 laptop and haven’t encountered any issues. All the 3.0 ports were tested and work as well. I haven’t had a chance to test the SD/MicroSD slots yet, I’ll update the review when I’m able to. All in all, for the price, this is a decent Hub and I’d recommend it to coworkers needing some device/port expansion.
