  • Opal Side Tank lets Opal produce about 3x more ice before having to refill?giving you more of the good ice

It saves my a lot of time refilling and refilling. It holds about triple what the ice tank can hold. I use my ice machine a lot so it’s a winner!

We’ve had the Opal side tank for a few months now and couldn’t be happier. We go through a lot of ice and were refilling the Opal ice maker the regular way multiple times a day (ice maker was constantly signaling for more water with the blue light). Now we can go for a few days to a week before refilling the side tank. Best of all, we don’t have to pull the ice drawer out and drip water everywhere to refill the water anymore.

Honestly this thing seems overpriced cause it is..... BUT ITS LAZY PERSON APPROVED!!!! Instead of refilling water every few days now I can go a whole week! It’s still annoying and could totally be improved by adding a water hookup hose like a fridge water/ice maker uses! I’d easily pay $150 for a automatic water kit so I’d never have to manually refill again! This ice keeps my lady happy and when she runs out of ice ain’t nobody happy if ya get my drift! Lol

This addition was exactly what the unit needed. Easy to refill and it takes quite a long time to go through the water. I don't fill it more than once a week.

While I still wish I could hard plumb my Opal into my water supply at the house, this is a great alternative and addition to your Opal ice maker!! Not sure what the negative reviews about leaks are about, but honestly, it’s literally idiot proof. You take the tank off, unscrew the cap, fill the tank, flip it upside down, and put it back on the base. There is a one way valve, so it’s not like you’re flipping a water cooler jug over, the water won’t go everywhere. It matches the Opal perfectly, the tank is sized perfect enough that I can fit it into my sink and fill it using my Instant hot/cold tap which gives me filtered water, and it’s way easier than having to pull the ice tray all the way out, sticking a pitcher of water into the Opal and filling it a few times a week. Installation literally took 30 seconds. It took longer for me to open the Amazon shipping box, un-box the tank, and pull my Opal far enough out from under the cabinet to reach the hose than it did to actually connect it. It’s a bit pricey, but I got my Opal brand new on clearance at Home Depot for $225, so it was easier for me to justify the $70, but honestly, it’s money well spent!!

Not sure why people keep complaining about the price, but still decided to purchase and rate the product badly. It does what it’s supposed to do simple as that.

This works exactly as advertised, so that's the reason for the 5 stars. It helps keep the Opal filled with water and operating well. The thing that I dislike is that this is, in my opinion, an absolutely necessary addition to the Opal, instead of being an optional convenience. Without the reservoir, it was incredibly easy to have the main water area run dry by just using a few scoops of ice without refilling the water. This has a side effect of the Opal not really being able to effectively keep the ice frozen (because it has to wait for a lot of ice to melt before it can recycle it as frozen again), as well as allowing the Opal to make horrendous noise. With the reservoir that doesn't happen. I dislike being made to feel like I *had* to buy an accessory to make something work correctly.

Installing the tank was easy because I added it while setting up the ice maker. Instructions were overly clear--great. Adding water is a breeze with this and the tank stays in place with the magnets so can put it on either side of the ice maker. Picture shows in temporary place pending my bar being built. Oh, and the ice is awesome--should have got one of these long ago.

I don’t do a lot of reviews, but with the amount of investment and how in depth we researched this product before buying, I wanted to put in my 2 cents to help others in their decision. First off, very happy with this purchase. We just bought a new fridge and it makes little to no ice so we needed a solution, presenting Opal. We have had her only a couple of days but she makes ice like a champ. We let her run 24 hours a days and she makes great ice. I was concerned about the ice being too soft but it’s not, even with the holding container not being refrigerated it works fantastically. We have stored up some extra bags of ice for when we have company. When we empty the tank I am amazed at how quickly Opal refills it. I was concerned about water when you pull the holding container out and yes there is water but we are just mindful of that as we take the container out to empty into bags. I love the way my water stays cold in my yeti cup without my ice turning to a block. The Opal ice keeps a nice constant consistency as it naturally melts. I could go on and on about this product but the take away is, if you are looking for a personal ice maker this is the one for you! Notice we purchased the side tank for our Opal and I think that adds to the ease of use and enjoyment for this product.

This item is well worth it! Prior to having this, I was filling the ice maker with water about once a day, and now I only fill it once or twice a week. It was kind of a pain to fill the ice maker because you would have to take the ice tray out and make sure it didn't drip everywhere when filling, but with the water tank it is super easy. It really isn't a big deal that it needs to be flipped over to put it back on the stand, the water doesn't leak out, and because of this feature, you don't need an extra container to fill it with, you just put the tank directly under the faucet. It's probably better for the ice maker to have its water tank full at all times so it's not trying to make ice from an empty tank, which may cause breakdown. I'm wondering if this is the problem some people who gave it poor reviews had. My friend actually bought one first, and she had no problems with it either. My husband was hesistant because of some of the poor reviews, but it has proven to be a great product for us. The water tank can be mounted on either side of the ice maker, which is a great feature. This whole unit along with the water tank is at the top of my best purchases ever list. I just love it!
