Awesome cast-iron that's ready to go!
I love the size and pour spouts on this cast iron. The two handles also make cooking heavier dishes or putting it in / taking it out of the oven in this a breeze. I'd say the quality is above Lodge, but not dramatically. I definitely reach for this over my other Lodge products though. I'm lazier than I'd like to admit when getting a new cast iron product and usually just keep messing up dishes until the seasoning sticks on the surface. This one came surprisingly well seasoned with a smooth surface! I'll still make sure to only cook oily and fatty foods to really solidify that non-stick surface though. I want food to fall off of this pan I think it will very soon.

Love this skillet!
It's a great size and doesn't weigh as much as some other brands. It's almost a daily user in my home. I've had zero issues with it and I'm pretty new to using cast iron. The inside of the pan is nice and smooth, unlike some other brands, and this is great for building up your non-stick finish. I don't really have anything negative to say about this skillet. (If I had one thing on my wishlist....it would be a silicone assist handle cover. I'll have to find one elsewhere and hope it fits.)

Love this cast iron pan!
Purchased this as a gift for my husband from the original kickstarter because he had been wanting a new non-rusted cast iron skillet for a while. It's ready to go outside of the box as it comes pre-seasoned. It's heavy but it's so well constructed! Basically: it's exactly as described and for $40 honestly you can't find a better deal on a quality, new cast iron skillet. It's pretty much the only skillet we use these days because our other ones are junk. I got the total kit and it works ok. We use the flax seed oil to maintain the seasoning but i don't use the other stuff like the scrubber, the lid, and the pot holder very often. They're useful for when you need them though so i do recommend it because you will need it eventually. The only small thing I would add is that it is 10" so keep that in mind if you need to cook big meals often. But for 2-4 people it's perfect. Thanks GreaterGoods!

Even Heat
I’ve only owned Lodge cast iron cookware, which I have been over the years have been putting in the back of my cabinets. Why? Because everything sticks , ( after years of seasoning) , always a hot spot in the pan , and cleaning was difficult because you want to save your seasoning, but when everything sticks , well you lose all your seasoning. I got inspired when I saw the finish on this pan. I rinsed and cooked two hamburgers in it...beautiful crust and no sticking. Cleaning was a breeze and I did buy the chain scrubber with the silicone piece inside, that worked better than anything I’ve ever used on cast iron. The next day I fried two eggs with a “small” amount of bacon grease , which we all know is a true test of non stick. They were sliding in the pan...I kid you not! Crispy edges , and creamy yolks. There is NO hot spots in this pan...beautiful even heat. I am very impressed. And the packaging was secure and felt like opening a Christmas package. The pan is hefty , but it’s cast iron after all and the helper handle is a wonderful idea.

Best cast iron I've ever bought
For a long time now, cast iron has called to me and I've really WANTED to like it, but it seems every time I try and use it, things stick like crazy and it just turns into a bad experience. Some are better than others and before I found this brand, Lodge was always my favorite (note: I tried both their cast iron and cast steel). Other no-name brands were a disaster. As I have come to find out, the texture on the inside plays a huge role--the smoother it is, the less things stick (and I guess that makes perfect sense). What makes this skillet so darn good is that it has been sanded to the point that it arrives nice and smooth (it also comes pre-seasoned, but so do many other brands). From the first time I used this, it was obvious that it was the best in my arsenal. As I noted before, I've been WANTING to love cast iron for a long time, so when I saw this product on Kickstarter, and all the promises they made about it being better than other choices, I went ahead and tried it out. I got the 12" skillet there and have been using it for months now. It's not that I don't still have reasons to use my non-stick skillets, too, but this is the first time I've actually been successful with cast iron and so when I saw they were selling on Amazon, I grabbed not only the 10" skillet, but the cleaner, the silicone handle and the oil to maintain this skillet, and hopefully improve the seasoning on my previous favorite, the Lodge. The cleaner works great, too--I have another chainmail scrubber, but the silicone center in here makes this one SO MUCH easier to use AND more effective. Hands down, this is a better choice. If you are looking for a new cast iron skillet, then for what it's worth, I've tried several and this is the best I've found. I'd heartily recommend it to anyone. Now, I'm just waiting for them to start offering a 15" version so I can buy that, too. Ooo--and dutch oven that I can put into the coals of a campfire... Bring it on, GreaterGoods--you have a captive audience in me!

Wonderful Cast Iron pan that does not break the bank
I have been using cast iron for a while and the cnc finished surface of the GreaterGoods skillet makes seasoning quick and keeps a great non stick surface with cleaning. This pan is my daily go to (even when cooking things with tomato, which I should know better). Cleans up great and the addition of the silicon handle makes handling on the stove great.

Excellent Skillet
This is hands down the best cast iron skillet in this price range that I've ever found. I am a cast iron cooking enthusiast. Over the years, I have acquired and refurbished several 50+ year old "heirloom" type high-end cast iron skillets as hand-me downs, inheritances, and random thrift shop purchases. My favorites are a couple of Griswold skillets (the kind that sell for $100+ on eBay these days). I love these for their smooth cooking surfaces and even heat distribution. I've also used Lodge and Old Mountain and other modern, lower-priced cast iron skillets. These distribute heat well, and perhaps with a tremendous amount of time could develop something resembling a non-stick surface, but frankly, the rough, pocked cooking surfaces are frustrating and don't often produce the desired results or deliver an enjoyable cooking experience. Using this Greater Goods skillet is far more similar to using the old-school, heirloom skillets than the modern competitors in a comparable price range. The cooking surface on this skillet has been machine sanded, resulting in an extremely smooth and effectively non-stick surface. Perhaps the method to produce it doesn't match the old masters of cast iron, but the result is basically the same. I've seen other companies producing similarly smooth skillets these days, but they tend to be in the $100 to $200+ range. If you're in need of a good quality cast iron skillet and don't want to break the bank, this one is a no brainer.

Excellent pan. Equally amazing team behind it.
My first experience with greater goods was with the skillet. I also ordered some flaxseed to season at the Chainmail scrubber and the silicone handle. Perfect size. I really like the finished interior. Right out of the box I put a good coat of flaxseed oil and Seasoned again just to make sure I was getting the best start. No hotspots, even heat. Customer service is absolutely second to none. Quick and timely response to emails. All in all amazing team of individuals who not only know how to take care of the customers they also make an incredible product. I will order the larger pan and Dutch oven soon to complete the set.

Heirloom quality pan that cooks like a classic!
I started my cast iron collection with a 10" Lodge pan many years ago. Got it nice and seasoned and thought I'd reached the pinnacle of cast iron. But then I found a 1930's Griswold pan in an antique store for a great price. A little TLC and researching, and I realized how wrong I was about the Lodge. The difference was that the cooking surface of the Griswold was ground smooth in the factory, while the Lodge was left rough cast. It took A LOT of seasoning to finally smooth out the Lodge, but the Griswold was perfect from the get-go. On a scale of Lodge to Griswold, this pan is right there at Griswold. This Nourish by Greater Goods pan cooks just like that antique Griswold, and I couldn't be more impressed. In fact, after backing this pan on Kickstarter, I went back and ordered the 12" model (not available on Amazon as of this writing). I missed the dutch oven, but if that ever comes to Amazon, I'm buying it immediately. There are several modern manufacturers that sell smooth cast iron, but none at this price point (that I've found, anyway). I also highly recommend the chainmail scrubber by Greater Goods. It makes cleaning your CI a breeze. Lastly, I have to commend Greater Goods on their customer service. I had to reach out to them about another product I'd purchased and it was one of the best customer service experience I've had.

As advertised
I read the reviews for the most popular skillet which costs around $26.. 90% positive, but a large amount of the 1-star reviews said that the pan cracked so I decided to keep looking and then I came across this one, which cost $40., but is made by a company that will back it up and the reviews were all very positive and seemed authentic so I went with it. It also gets compared to the older cast-iron pans that most people seem to say were superior to the newer ones. I have had it for 3 days now. It smoked a bit the first couple of times I used it which some of the reviews said it would. I did not re-cure it, but it comes pre-cured and so far does not seem to be having any problems with sticking or rusting, etc.. Overall I think this is a very good product and I would recommend it.
