Bought this to replace my original iPad mini (2013), could not be happier. Excellent screen, quick processor, and smooth OS. Chose this over the pro simply because I wanted something portable in between my iPhone 7 Plus and MacBook Pro. No issues so far.

I've had a couple of small Android tablets for reading books and newspapers (via Kindle) and general web articles. This beats those tablets for three reasons. First, the pixel resolution is better. Second, the 4:3 screen ratio is better for reading compared to the 16:9 and 16:10 ratios on the other two tablets. Third, It looks to me that Amazon has better IOS than Android Kindle software. The Android software will sometimes get the pages of the newspaper messed up (NY Times) requiring the software to be reloaded. I have not seen that yet with this tablet. I bought the space gray color with the base 64G of storage. I did pay extra for the 4G capability because I had a low cost subscription from T-Mobile. The nano-sim quickly moved from my old tablet to this one. I have not tried their eSim option. The overall quality and feel is good but it does better wrapped in a slim no-slip case for carrying around. I'm using a Soke case. The screen is supposed to resist finger smudges but I don't think so plus it seems to be harder to clean. It's certainly pricey compared to other options especially when you opt for 4G. I probably would have bought the WiFi only version if I did not have such a good data subscription. I expect to keep this for several years so I hope the battery lasts or is easy to change.

This is so far the best and most advanced iPad that I have ever owned. As a brief history I have owned the iPad mini 3 and the iPad 5th generation. The new A12 chip makes this iPad so fast and fluid and is honestly more power than I will ever need in my day to day use of this product. I love that this iPad has a fully laminated display it makes reading on it so much better and of course it eliminates that annoying air gap that is on the budget iPad 5th and 6th gen. Another of the great features of this iPad is the True Tone display that adjusts the display to the lighting conditions of the room your in. This makes it much easier on your eyes when your using the iPad and it’s effects are in my opinion most notable when reading. The battery life on this iPad is excellent and the A12 chip is to thank for that since it’s very efficient, with how much I use it I can go for days on a single charge though of course your mileage will vary based on use and other settings. The mini definitely falls into an odd market as it has the same specs as the new iPad Air just in a much smaller form factor, so I’d definitely recommend the mini if you’ve got an older iPad and want to upgrade without breaking the bank and don’t mind the smaller form factor or even prefer your iPads in a more portable form. Also if your looking to buy an iPad for the first time and you want one that isn’t exactly a budget model but at the same time you don’t want to spend the kind of money it takes to get a pro model then the mini 5 might just be for you. I’m in the camp of people that prefer this smaller form as it’s easier to port around and if you read books on it it’s not going to tire your arm out like the larger models. The mini definitely has a viable market even in 2019 and I believe is worth a look if your curious about how an iPad of this size compares to the much larger versions that Apple sells.

Upgraded from an ipad mini 2 and the performance difference is amazing! Much faster. Love the screen, very clear and setup was a snap. Best and most powerful small tablet on the market and runs all aps quickly and smoothly. Very small and light, easy to hold in one hand. Battery life is simply stunning at about 10 hours. Can't recommend highly enough for those looking for a smaller tablet. Great for reading books from as it the size of a book.

I owned an iPad Mini 2 since 2014, but that is getting slow year by year. I wanted a faster tablet with the same size and the Apple finally decided to continue the mini line, so could replace it. I hope it will serve me well for the next 3-5 years. Thanks Apple, and please keep supporting the mini line for so long!

So I upgraded from a iPad Pro 2016, well you see I thought my iPad was having this black screen problem and I was finding my 9.7 pro to be to heavy to hold! Well you know that did not change with my new iPad mini but the size and the wight are a welcomed change. And I do believe the black screen has to do with our net! But on to the good stuff about the mini love the size the power the speed and the chip and the Bluetooth 5.0 and lets not forget the laminated screen big plus! Sounds nice to, also I’m glad to have a mini back a nicely upgraded one one the inside of course, but the out side is normal apple so that’s fine! The price for this thing was not bad either I’m glad apple did not want a arm and a leg for it! Worked real good with my boses qvc 2s sound nice! Good and response with the apple pencle to without a screen protector. I also brought a 30 apple block charger, if you have the money go for it charges faster and I can use it while I charge! It still goes up, but you have to have a c to lighting cord for that! Well worth the like 47 dollars extra and I got it at Walmart for the box and the cord on amizion! It was a original cord though. SO the only thing its lacking is the 4 speaker audio! That’s all that’s not there that the iPad Pro 2016 has over it! But that fine I still use my old one for netflick watching! And its still a not bad iPad for 2019! Well that’s all she wrote have a nice day all!

I am an artist, illustrator and designer and I use a 12.9” iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil and Apple Smart Keyboard in my work. I use a variety of art, business, productivity and social media apps on it on a daily basis and it has honestly supplanted my computer for a large portion of my work. While I love it and find it portable-enough when traveling or spending a day on location, it’s too cumbersome to carry around as a digital sketchbook or journal, which is something that I’ve wanted for a while. Carrying around sketchbooks, a physical journal and art supplies isn’t practical on a day-to-day basis. So, when this tablet was introduced with an improved screen and support for the first general Apple Pencil (which I already own), I jumped on it. And, I’m really glad that I did! This iPad Mini 5 now goes with me everywhere! It handles all of the social media, entertainment and productive apps that I use just as well as my iPad Pro. I also use Procreate (with additional layer limitations), Affinity Designer and the Concepts app on it for different aspects of my art and illustration work when I’m on the go, so I no longer have to carry around sketchbooks and a journal anymore! Brilliant! With the Apple Pencil, it does everything that I need from a portable tablet and then some. In general, I love this iPad mini and the minor limitations that I’ve run into, or lack of features that it has compared to my iPad Pro, are minor enough that I have kept my review at five stars. That said, be sure to read the cons that I have listed below, to see how they apply to you and your needs. For me, this device meets my needs well enough that I have no real complaints. Pros: - Lightweight and portable - A12 Bionic chip - Reasonably fast with 3GB memory (vs 4 GB in the iPad Pro) - First generation Apple Pencil support (my main reason for buying this device) - Fingerprint reader - High quality screen with Retina display that displays fairly accurate colors - Excellent battery life for a tablet - Good quality sound from the speakers (albeit a bit quiet) that is excellent with headphones - Super easy set up with an existing iPad to sync to and pull settings from (loved this). Cons: - Still has a relatively thick bezel, which is kinda meh. - Some images look just slightly washed out in comparison to the iPad Pro (this could just be my device) - Has a bit less memory (3 GB) than the iPad Pro, which isn’t an issue in *most* apps. Note: ** The Procreate app allows substantially fewer layers on this device than on the iPad Pro due to the device having less memory (3 GB, versus 4 GB in the iPad Pro). I have found that when using Procreate on this device mostly for sketching, it isn’t too much of an issue, but I won’t do much finished work with it as a result. I have not noticed these limits in the Concepts app or in Affinity Designer however, both which work great. Overall, I really like this iPad Mini 5 and I am on it a lot. In fact, I often use it next to me to view images in portrait mode, while I’m illustrating on the iPad Pro, so that I can use the entire screen of the iPad Pro to draw on. The iPad Pro/iPad Mini 5 are an excellent combo for artists and designers... or for anyone who would like to do different things on each device, simultaneously (go multi-taskers). And, the iPad Mini 5 is an excellent device for anyone who wants a lightweight, portable tablet with a high-resolution display that is reasonably fast and easy to use. Now that I have this to complement my iPad Pro, I my laptop is getting rather dusty.

I love my iPad mini! It’s my first apple tablet. I love the size of the screen and that the weight of the tablet isn’t too much for my wrists. I purchased this tablet for on the go productivity, reading, webinars and other stuff. Definitely worth the price and it is a beautiful device. Way better than the Samsung tablet I purchased years ago (which stopped charging, the speakers stopped working and it was very slow)! I love that all my favorite stuff was easy to install and load. It’s super fast and sensitive to touch which I wasn’t expecting but am very pleased with how everything responds so fast. I’m definitely thinking about purchasing the pencil to go with it for notes and maybe other things. Can’t wait to use this for library school classes! I can definitely see me using this tablet for a long time.

Perfect, exactly what I was waiting for. I was (am) an owner of the original gen1 iPad Mini, which I loved. However, it has become too slow for most use cases and is 2 iOS revs back, so I had to upgrade. I was holding out for an update, not wanting to purchase the Mini-4 which is already 2+ years old. The Mini-5 is very fast, responsive and the perfect size for how I use an iPad.
