This controller is great, and functions properly
This controller is great, and functions properly. It will connect to SNES 9x EX on iPhone jailbreak, if anyone is wondering. The only thing that could make it better is if it had a little more weight. Because it's bluetooth and has no batteries it feels very light in the hands. I'm thinking about opening it up just to add some weight to it. Other than that, it functions perfectly, and seems to have great battery life. One other tidbit is that it unfortunately doesn't smell like the original SNES controller, everyone that owned it remembers that nostalgic controller smell.

Must do 2 things before complaining that it lags and returning it.
I was about to return it. It lagged horribly right out the box using it with retroarch on firestick. I went online and updated the firmware on it. This helped but the s lag was still unbearable to play roms. I had to go on tv settings for the hdmi that I was using and I had to change the picture mode onto game mode. I have Samsung suhd. The fans mode uses a quicker refresh rate I believe. This fixed it. Now it plays perfectly. Glad I didn’t return it.

Best SNES Controller Ever
Wow! The build quality on these is extremely impressive. All of the buttons feel just right and the weight feels incredibly close to the original Nintendo-made controller we all used back in the 1990s. From a product support perspective, 8bitdo seems to be very good with providing updated firmware and detailed instructions via their web site. I set this up with a Raspberry Pi 3 running RetroPie and have had no connection issues. Definitely don't hesitate to spend a little extra on this over the cheaper/inferior clone controllers. I'm in love with this thing!

Great controller, you might have to update the controller firmware if you are using it on an android phone.
Looks and feels like the old snes controllers. I paired mine to my android phone easily but there was a bad lag in all the controls that made the games unplayable. I went to the 8bitdo website and downloaded the latest firmware, updated the controller, and it works perfect. I think this issue was with android only. I haven't tried this controller with my laptop yet but i'm sure it will work perfect because it works great with my phone now. Playing super Nintendo on my phone now!!

If you wanted a Buffalo SNES controller without the wires, get this
If you're looking for an SNES retro-style controller for old-school emulation, but want the modern convenience of getting away from cords, look no further. I'm using this controller with a Raspberry Pi 3 running RetroPie 4 and it's absolutely perfect. Everything about it is high-quality, and it feels just like the SNES controllers from my adolescence. The battery lasts me for days on end, and there's a battery LED that flashes when it's getting low so you know it's time to plug it in. You can do Shoryukens and Hadokens in Street Fighter to your heart's content. It's easy to set up in Retropie. If it's never been paired, just turn it on and tell RetroPie to look for Bluetooth items. If it's been previously paired but you need to unpair it, turn it on and hold Select, then search with your system to find it. Mine did have older firmware on it when I got it, but I downloaded the USB software from 8bitdo and followed the directions. Whether you're running older or newer firmware does have an effect on settings in RetroPie, so pay attention. Or just update the firmware and you don't have to mess with anything else. I wish 8bitdo made a Genesis or Saturn-style controller like this. It'd be perfect for all those Genesis games with 6-button support. As it is, the SNES30 does a decent job, especially on 3-button Genesis games. Grab it. You won't be disappointed.

solid controller for a SNES emulator, recommended
This is an excellent product! The build quality seems very good and I used it to play several SNES games on my emulator and it worked great. The only road block I ran into wasn't even the fault of this controller, but my setup. I was using a Raspberry Pi 3 and Emulation Station, I had been using my old PS3 controllers before i got this, and something to do with those drivers conflicts with these drivers, so I had to totally uninstall my PS3 controller bluetooth drivers before these worked, but aside from that, it was easy enough to set up. Looks great, works great, good battery life (which is surprising given how light weight it is, I thought batteries weighed more!), worth the purchase.

ONLY OLD Gamers like myself will understand what the SNES Controller was like
Any old man like myself that grew up playing the Super Nintendo will understand how good the quality was with that controller. This 8-BitDo SNES Controller in my personal opinion is better......... YES, I just said that. The button almost feel the same as the Original Super Nintendo Controller, The only difference is they have a bit more of a rubbery click to them, its not overkill making them feel squishy, its just enough to make them feel really good. But thats personal Preference..... THE ONLY issue you may have with this is that if your PC or What ever you are using doesnt have built in Blue Tooth you will need to get a Blue Tooth Dongle like I had to do. Other than that this has to be the best 3rd Party SNES Controller I have ever used. Would recommend this to ANYBODY looking to get back into SNES games or any other games that have a retro feel, because you can use it for Steam and other PC games as well. I havent tried using it on the Switch though

Buy it now!
I'm going to be very brief with my review. I'm sure you have stumbled upon these controllers for a great Raspberry Pi 3 retro games controller or a Nintendo Switch controller. A very good friend of mine had purchased these months ago while I had purchased the Buffalo Classic wired edition. Both are great controllers, and I have not seen a problem with either. That being said, I pulled the trigger on the 8bitdo controllers because I wanted to enjoy Mario Kart on my Switch. Also, my wife prefers these over the Switch Pro controller since her hands are smaller. I can honestly say these were a total game changer and work 100% flawlessly. Just check out some YouTube videos and you'll see how easy it is to get up and running. Because these products are so awesome, I'll definitely grab the pro edition of the controller so that I get the analog sticks and 2 triggers as well.

Nostalgia to the Max
First off, my favorite console of all time is the Super Nintendo, right next to the N64, so I'm a bit biased sure, but also look for the perfect experience. I'm blown away by the quality of this controller. Even the box it comes in gives you such a premium feel, like it's something really special. And it is. This mimics the original Super Nintendo controller to what seems to be exact proportions. Just looks like they cut the cord off and it still works! Now as for use, I emulate the games that I own because my old Super Nintendo just doesn't look good on an HD tv. Bring in the emulator and some upscaling etc. and you've a fantastic fine tuned retro experience. Also looking into turning my raspberry pie into an emulating machine, and others have said this controller works wonders with it. TL;DR Buy the controller. Worth every penny.

Better & Less Expensive than 1st Party Controllers
I purchased 4 of these controllers for a MarioKart 8 Deluxe tournament planned for our office and these SNES controllers perform like a champ! The nostalgia levels are high as these feel exactly like they did in my hands back in 1991. To get these to work on a Nintendo Switch, there's a few hoops you have to jump through but nothing too prohibitive or complex (you'll need a computer & internet access to d/l the latest firmware update). The button combos to sync the devices & initiate it for firmware updates are a little odd but a little experimentation should get you where you need to be. Also of note: the packaging is phenomenal! You'll feel like you're opening up an iPhone! The included USB cable & corporate branded keychain are very nice as well. My greatest concerns lie, not with these amazing products, but w/Nintendo & their inane C&D policies. I worry they'll sabotage these peripherals with a console patch & legally stymie the makers. For now; this is the optimal way to play like it's old-school MarioKart on the Switch.
