I paid about 25% as much for this chair as the previous one. The expensive chair was a tad larger, and lasted for about 3 years, but its fake leather covering was already pealing off after less than 2 years. This new chair is actually more comfortable, can be raised higher, moves a lot easier, and so far seems quite sturdy. I have no idea how long it will hold up, but if it lasts just one year I am ahead. I had serious doubts when making the purchase - seemed too good to be true - but very happy with the new chair. It takes some work to build, and you need to pay close attention to what bolts go where - some look very similar. If you take your time and follow the instructions, it all comes together quickly. The supplied tool was especially handy - much better than the usual Allen Wrench. Keeping my fingers crossed that this chair will last as long as the previous one...

the base is actually made of metal - the chair went together very easily - the directions are not the best but I have put together a few chairs over the years and this one went together very smoothly - its comfortable, really big and looks good - so far so good the only negative I have at this time is to say that the chair was sent ion its original box and there was a surprising lack of foam and packaging materials to protect the chair in shipping. Luckily mine was in pretty good shape with just a few paint scrapes on the lower part of the arms. I dont remember if there was an option to choose if the item was a gift - that way they will actually pack it in another box so the contents are not visible - a great option to choose when ordering oversize packages that often are shipped in original packing which isnt designed for the rigors of shipping UPS.

It's like a dream come true. It's solid and has room enough for me to sit with the arms on and it is super comfortable.

Great chair, perfect fit. I am 6'5" 240 lbs; my feet lay flat on the floor at full height and the seat is long/deep enough to where my thighs are full on the seat...no overhang. I spend too much time in a chair being in IT. I've been using this for a day and it is very comfortable, no complaints. Also, I'm not sure what's going on with some of the other reviewers. This chair took MAYBE 30 minutes to assemble and was extremely intuitive. I didn't use the instructions except to check for the correct screw sizes.

Every part of this chair is heavy and sturdy. It was easy to assemble with the included tool and fasteners. The instructions were clear and easily followed even if the translation lacked polish. If I were going to complain about anything it would be that it shipped FedEx which provides the absolute minimum tracking info. So far I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Fantastic quality now there’s room for my dog while I work

This chair is an up-sized version of typical Chinese task chairs in design, and some parts are comparatively thick, or strong. The arm rests are not optional and must be installed as they act as braces between the seat and back, they are quite substantial. The gas strut that raises and lowers the chair looks to be standard and if it eventually gets blown you may be able to drop-in one from a junk task chair. I say this because this chair has little else that could fail and could otherwise go 30-years. The leather is nice. The cushioning seems good, time will tell. Height adjustable via the usual side lever, but no rock function. Instead the single knob under that chair very minimally fine-adjusts the tilt to suit. It is roomy but does not look huge and can be mistaken for any executive chair. Two cons: 1) You may be short one each M8x35mm screw, as was I with each of the two chairs I purchased. Plan accordingly. There is a flimsy decorative plastic piece that snaps together over the (all-metal) chair legs where they join the hub, one did not survive the shipment. You'll not miss it. These minor cons in no way diminish the 5-stars. This chair will satisfy your heaviest employee. Ours is a sweet guy and the chair (one of the two is a spare) arrived on his birthday. Update 4/14/2019: Surprise, the chair does rock, of you pull-out the side lever.

This chair is huge. I'm 6 foot tall and just under 300 lbs and I sometimes feel like a kid in a grown ups chair! It's the first chair that I can't use at full height because my feet dangle so I have to take it down slightly. It is very sturdily built with lots of metal and PU leather and very little plastic. I feel like this chair will last a long long time. It is truly unbelievable to find such a well built chair for such a reasonable price.

This chair is a heavy duty beast and very comfortable. I debated over this chair, Amazon’s 500lb and Hercules flash furniture and couldn’t really tell from all the observations that the more expensive was really any better and it was least expensive, and while not prime came within 3 days. It took approximately 30 minutes to unpack and assemble, 10 screws in the base, 8 screws for the heavy steel back plate to connect the seat and back, 4 screws for the arms, using common sense and following the directions by not tightening all the screws until you have them all inserted, resulted in no aligment issues. Plus using the handy little tool provided (which is all you need) and it went together with no issues. It’s very well made with heavy steel tubing legs, arm and plate with bonded leather seating. No plastic except for the wheels and perhaps a decorative cover on the base I love the fact that it’s 20 inch high without raising it (up to 22 inch), because 20 inch fits me fine (6 ft tall) with feet flat on the floor and no excessive bending of the knees. So there are no worries about the gas cylinder wearing out (at least for me and my previous chairs). The width is amazing 23 inches and fits my 300lb frame with room to spare. It has nice high arm rests (23 inches @ 20 inch seat setting) that align perfectly with the high of keyboard tray. The seat padding is comfortable with leg support, so is the back with my shoulders aligning perfectly with the back and with plenty of low back support. It tilts comfortable and adjusts easily. The wheels are standard but heavy duty plastic, I replaced them with some nylon wheels, without sharp edges, and it roll very smoothly, (I had them on my old chair, so my old chair has new wheels and they roll nice but wanted to avoid sharp edges on my floor.) So I expect that at the price, the bonded “leather” will wear out, as it did on all my old chairs, but I will be comfortable during that period and I am very happy so far with my purchase. I work from home and sit around 50-60 hours a week, so comfort and function is important.

This is a no nonsense office chair, like heavy armor. I was tired of office chairs that died in three months, so I went with this one. The price was right, the specs were overkill, and it looks good. I am 6'4", so a big chair is what I wanted, but this could handle someone 6'10". So I am pleased with the size of the seat, though it might be a tad too wide for the armrests, but I'll get used to it. A headrest would be nice, but that is why I have a big man's La-Z-Boy. The weight factor is overkill for me, as 500 lb is over twice my weight. When I sit down, the shock absorber barely moves. But that is a plus, as it should last a while. This is a solidly made chair, over 50 lbs, no short cuts on part strength. The plates, screws, armrests, base, rollers, it's all made to last under a load. I am pleased with the way it is built. It's quiet, spins easy, rolls easy, rocks properly. There are spots where the welds are not as refined as they could be in the base, but they aren't in easy sight. You have to look for the rough spots. One note on assembly. If you tighten the back support screws before everything is attached, it can cause grief. Gaps, the armrests not aligning, all sorts of issues can happen if the back support can't wobble around during assembly. Get every single screw inserted and the leg assembly fully tightened with rollers and shock absorber, then tighten the base mount and mount it. Then tighten the armrests. Finally, tighten the back support. That will save lots of grief in assembly. The thing that slowed my assembly was the sheer mass of the chair. It's not a casual project, be warned. But it is doable. The chair is not as comfortable as my La-Z-Boy (but nothing else is), but I can spend long hours in it without discomfort. And in time, it will conform to my shape, so it should improve. The arms are wide enough for my jumbo body Takamine, so it's guitar friendly. You could do a lot worse than this Chinese chair.
