It's Not Rocket Science.

It's not a new technology, but that doesn't keep most modern providers of these things from screwing them up royally. This is the exception: Simple, sturdy, and likely the last one I'll be buying for a while. Serious, I don't need high-tech in my wine puller. I think these devices reached the zenith of their development in about 1890 or so. Just give me something with sturdy parts and good leverage and I'm fine. I've bought (or received as gifts) several high-tech pullers that went in the garbage after a few months. And really, I don't drink THAT much wine. Anyway, a good purchase. Buy and enjoy.

Even I Won't Be Breaking this One

My old standby finally broke and I realized buying a bottle opener locally wasn't feasible. Stores just don't seem to carry them. However, I finally found one and it broke the first time I tried to use it. It's still stuck in the cork, sitting in the fridge for weeks, in case someone strong comes along who might be able to get it out. So, it was time to get serious. I bought this one from Amazon and was relieved to find out it actually works. It seems sturdy enough it will last. The design is elegant and appealing.

I have been using this for a couple of months now. I have gone thru many wine openers over the years and was hopeful this one wouldn't be a cheap disappointment. Many reviews called it durable so I ordered. It is heavier than my last one and does seem like it will open many bottles, regardless of cork type. The tip pierces easily and the gears do pull the cork smoothly. Very happy!

Broke after one month

The bottle opener snapped off after one month of use. EDIT: This bottle opener did break after one month of use but I've edited my review since the company fully refunded my purchase no questions asked. I bought a different wine and bottle opener instead.
