I have hooked up external speakers to tv's a million times, I bought this cheap "Onn" brand tv, it had 3 different places on the back of this 43 inch bargain tv, to instal ext sound....Ironically I have a pair of Tannoy speakers..I tried the RCA out lets, I tried the 3.5MM deal. At my wits end, I ordered this,.. and it worked. no background buzz, feeds right through my receiver. thanks

Very easy to install. the SPDIF optical single port on my receiver had become troublesome. Now have 3 fully functional input options with this optical to analog converter. Noticed that had to raise volume perhaps as much as 5%. Quality of sound remains exceptional. Really like the idea that the unit draws a maximum of 1/2 watt which should translate into the input AC voltage for the external power adapter being closer to 1 watt, an insignificant low level when automatically powering up with the receiver switched circuit.

I’ve just received the unit in the mail and set it up, and it’s working like a charm with my speakers. As stated in the FAQ, the unit is not compatible with Dolby Digital 5.1, so if you’re using it for the Xbox 360 like I am, you must go to the audio settings and change it. If you don’t, there will be a very obvious buzzing. If this is not the cause of the buzzing, make sure everything is properly grounded.

Attached the optical cable from the TV and the analogue table to my bass speaker and I had my bass back for my new TV. Easy. Haven't looked at it since.

Used with wireless headphones for TV or for gaming. Works perfect.

I originally picked it up because it was it was a good price. Unfortunately, I could hear a electronic humming in the background when I turned up the volume. Update- Since my review, the seller was very concerned about the quality of the product that I received and contacted me about a replacement and also was following up with manufacturer. The unit is a quality build (metal housing) and nicely compact.... worth trying and sure my issue was limited to a just a getting a glitchy box, so I’m update the score From a 3 to a 5 because of their follow up and concerns, which is nice to hear these days.

I have an old TV that has an Optical audio output but no AUX, I have an soundtouch lying around that I wanted to use as a sound bar. It does have Composite and i did try the Composite to AUX connector but the static was too unbearable. So what I needed was an optical to AUX connection without static. This product solves that problem effortlessly. I was able to save 100+$ on a new soundbar.

Unit works great, but it is intended to be powered by USB which is not described in the description - or I missed it. Fortunately I was hooking it to a TV that had a USB jack so I could get power close to where I wanted to use it. Unit may be made more for laptop use.

This one has no volume control but I didn't need it... Connected it to my old stereo and it works excellent. connecting it was easy as pie.

My soundbar didn't have an optical jack. My tv only had optical for audio output. This fixed the issue, and was set up in seconds.
