• WHAT IS LEBANESE ZA'ATAR - The Lebanese Za'atar has been used for centuries with hyssop that loves growing in the Middle-Eastern weather. The Hyssop is traditionally considered to have extensive health benefits. When absent, sometime spice merchants use Thyme as a cheaper alternative.
  • FARM TO TABLE - The Spice Way farm grows herbs and spices using traditional methods including sundry and handpick to ensure high quality.
  • DON'T SETTLE FOR SUBSTITUTES - contains genuine Hyssop grown in our farm, also known as the Za'atar herb.
  • HOW TO USE - Upgrades your dips and salads with an exotic savory taste. Very easy to use by adding olive oil and use as a dip, sprinkle on soft cheese or humus or just add to salad.
  • A TRADITIONAL RECIPE - we are using our vast 30 years of experience to master the right ingredients and proportions of this traditional blend.

First, let me say that I was weaned on lebanese za'atar. I have been so frustrated with all the "blended" imitations that use "Thyme, oregano and even marjoram" to substitute for "hyssop". If you don't use hyssop, it ain't za'atar. Not even close! This is Finally, what I grew up eating. Real Za'atar made ONLY with: Hyssop Sesame Sumac Salt. My 2 ounce package arrived in a sealed silver bag. Fresh tasting and delicious. I have been eating it since it was delivered yesterday and I will buy more very soon. P.S. My favorite snack is dipping bread in extra virgin olive oil and then in a little za'atar (the stuff that uses oregano and thyme and marjoram instead of hyssop just don't have that za'atar taste). Yay for my tastebuds.

I'm not Lebanese but we have a close friend who is. I thought it tasted better than the Zaatar we had when we all went out to local Lebanese restaurants. I was really pleased when I served it at home and she agreed.. To be honest, I thought the restaurant Zaatar was the "real deal", she assured me this one brought back memories and wanted to know where I got it. So, my 5Star rating is based on my overall liking the taste of this Zaatar better than the Lebanese restaurants versions and our friend saying this was the "real deal" she remembered. Hope this helped.

So I live here in Los Angeles and we have access to some of the best international markets in the US. We are a culinary hub, so-to-speak. While there are dozens of incredible Armenian/Lebanese/Middle Eastern markets with a lot of the same spices and herb blends, finding za’atar made with hyssop and not just thyme, can be tough. I am on cloud-9 right now. My za’atar just arrived (so fast!) and the expiry date is Sept 2020, so it’s ABSOLUTELY fresh, perfectly pungent, and fragrant, exactly what I wanted and need. Had a little giggle when I saw the LLC’s address is about 1.5 miles from me, and then *boom* it hit me.. THE SPICE WAY IS THE AMAZING SPICE AND TEA SHOP THAT WAS ON VENTURA! I used to stop in every time I went to Art’s Deli! I was crushed when you closed your doors. You always had the nicest staff and most fabulous samples. I truly was gutted when I discovered you’d closed.. and now you are still in business and vending via amazon! HUZZAH! Best wishes to the owners and staff, everyone was truly a joy to interact with at the shop. Would love to see your products available at our local farmers markets! Studio City or Encino on sundays!! *fingers crossed* Thanks again for the za’atar. It’ll be blanketing warm homemade manakish, sprinkled over lamb for kebabs, mixed into vinaigrettes for salads, sprinkled over soups and olive-oil brushed bread for the grill.. stirred into cool cucumber/yoghurt/lemon dip..topping for homemade hummus..so excited to sprinkle it on everything!

I spent years working in arabic restaurants, then married a Lebanese man. His sister made za'atar and sent it to us. This is restaurant quality, and very close to my sister-in-law's blend. It's a little more pungent (sumac), but absolutely delicious. Great for roasting meats, sprinkled on labne (or hummus) with pita, in lentil soup, in omelets and scrambles, and so much more. It is definitely made with hyssop, not thyme or oregano.

Wow!! an excellent product. My friend, who was seated 5 feet away, commented on the aroma of the spice blend, as I was opening the sealed package. And it only got better after that. It adds a wonderful taste to a variety of foods. In my case, fresh tomato slices and scrambled eggs. The foil and plastic packaging was done well. I hesitate to purchase spices in plastic bags because if it's been around for a long time, the spice flavor and aroma is addultered by the cheap plastic bag. This was not the case with this company's packaging. In conclusion, this is an excellent product from a professional spice company that obviously takes pride in their product and it shows.

I actually live in the land of "Zaatar" so I have plenty of opportunities to purchase Zaatar. I just cannot bring some to the USA for the obvious customs reasons. I found this Amazon , order not once but a 2nd order and can truly say WOW- it is literally the best Zaatar I have ever had. I shared it with my office staff and made them believers. Never settle for Zaatar with thyme- ONLY with Hyssop! Dip some bread ( pita or flat bread in frest olive oil and then into the Zaatar for a traditional and wonderful experience. GREAT job Eitan!

Purchased to see if the hubs would enjoy a new flavor profile. Tasted as expected, was fresh and well-packaged. Fairly decent value for a small amount. Plenty to use as a test in several dishes. I am an amateur chef and a foodie, husband is not. This worked out well to help me expose him to something different and not waste money buying a larger amount that might be wasted if he didn't enjoy it. Small amount that is less likely to go stale. Pleased with the quality of this product.

My package came quicky and is in great condition. I put some olive oil in a bowl and then added some za'atar. I can taste a minty flavour which is because hyssop is in the mint family. The other flavours are nice. I like this za'atar better than the Syrian one I purchased in Turkey a few years back. I'd definitely buy this product again.

I was curious to try making shawarma. I found a recipe I thought I could handle. Some of the other recipes for shawarma mentioned Zaatar as an ingredient, but not the one I decided to make. So I ordered Zaatar just to try it out. My son had previously spent a semester studying in Jordan, and when I told him what I was making for dinner, he said it was his favorite thing to eat when he was there. I was worried that my dish wouldn't measure up, but I added the zaatar seasoning mix, and it was delicious. And he LOVED it. I'm not sure it was totally authentic, but we all really enjoyed the flavors. The spice mix came in a nice package with easy-to-read labels and nutritional information. The seasoning seemed fresh enough, although not having been to the Middle East myself, I'm not sure what to expect. It was easy to transfer the spice from the packing to a small glass jar I had on hand, (which I always to as I try to get away from plastics.) Good experience all around! I would definitely order from this company again.

Interesting flavor. This is my first taste of this spice and am eager to try some of it on chicken. Have tried it in oil and fresh bread and it is good. It was packaged well and arrived in good shape. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for fresh and interesting spices. Their information is factual and to the point.
