Has a sturdy, weighted base with a rubber/foam bottom that helps it from sliding (I still put sticky-tak beneath it to give a little extra 'permanence'), and the different light choices are awesome, depending on what I'm doing. Each light selection (soft white, hard light, bright white, etc.) has five different 'brightness' levels, and I love that all I have to do is touch the symbol to change it. Reacts very quickly to touch. Not as tall as described, though--it does not stand 26" high, but about 20 or so; I'll try to update when I can get a moment to measure exactly. However, I would definitely buy it again.

My electrician recommended buying a TaoTronics desk lamp, as he bought one for his daughter and finds it to be excellent. I have had mine for over 2 months now, and I am very happy with it. It has multiple choices for the type of lighting (I prefer a clear white light instead of a yellow one) and for the brightness level. The memory function will keep the combination of settings you like. The USB 1 amp charging port at the base of the rear of the lamp is handy for (slow) re-charging your iPhone or any other device. The power button is touch-sensitive. The arms are very flexible (but do not swivel), and can even fold flat. It is base is sturdy with a foam-type protector to prevent scratching desk surfaces, and will not tip over. The LED is 9 watts; the cord which plugs into your electrical outlet is about 5 feet. I like the sleek look of the aluminum alloy, although it is also available in black. I signed up on-line for the extra 6 months to extend my warranty to 18 months using the card that comes in the package. Highly recommend.

This light is all metal so it feels substantial. I have many products from this company and they are all very good products and would buy them again. With that said when shopping for one of these lights make sure you read the specs carefully. With this one, the light part does not swivel, so if that is important this one does not do that. Pay attention to the Watts output, this one is rated at 9 watts, some others are rated up to 14 watts which may be to bright but all these lamps can be turned down to a lower light output. As far as all the light colors or temperature selections available, I am not sure how important that is when using it for short period doing the monthly bills, however for others doing hours of school, that would probably more of an issue. Example my Dell business computer screen changes it's display when it get dark to a night light setting, more yellow and pleasing to the eyes. This lamp weighs 2.6 pounds so is heavy enough so it won't knock over easy. The off/on couldn't be easier, tap the small blue light in the base and on it goes. The last setting you used will be remembered. Tap the picture of the sun to the right of blue on/off switch and light intensity changes brightest to dimmest. The symbol on the left side of the power switch changes the color/temperature of the light. Couldn't be simpler. When choosing one of these lamps it's not knowing what part of the lamp is plastic and what is metal is the problem and confusing. Certain parts being plastic doesn't matter, like the cover for the base or cover for the light unit. A totally metal lamp with more power is going to drive the cost way up so this lamp strikes a balance between power and construction--a good choice.

Immediately became my favorite lamp. I can adjust the brightness to avoid waking my wife or to have quiet time in the morning. I can adjust the warmth to aid my brain and mood. So solid and beautiful. I need another one! There's only one problem that's surfaced: the blue power light is BRIGHT. So bright that it disturbs my sleep. I hacked it by putting three layers of grey scrapbooking tape over it until it muted (see photo). This might be something the company could address as an option.

What's not to like? The form factor is elegant and (as long as the hinges hold up -- they feel good) very versatile. I really like the 5 brightness options, the 5 color options (from cool white to very warm), and the touch controls. Even light, good reach for its size, seems very stable. The packaging is pretty darn elegant, the instructions are short and clearly written (!!!) and the product just seems to say 'name brand' instead of mass-market knock-off. It's not quite Braun or George Kovacs, but then what is these days. Really very decent for the price. No negatives, no criticisms, but a few things to be aware of. The stable base is the size of a salad plate, so won't fit on the tiniest of desks. The two arms are very roughly 15" long, so you won't be able to angle this way up, over, down, and outward like an old drafting lamp (but for desk use it's a lot less complex and fiddly). And as others note, the arm doesn't rotate on the base, and the base is slightly oblong, but OTOH this makes for zero flex where the base joins the arm. Finally, as a quibble, the warm colors, while quite easy on the eyes, won't entirely fool you into thinking you have an old incandescent "soft white" bulb that you read by in a cozy glow.

TaoTronics Metal LED Desk Lamp ( Ultrathin Aluminum Alloy Table Lamps For Bedrooms, Touch Control, 5 Color Temperatures & 5 Brightness Levels Lamps For Living Room ) My old Ott light literally fell apart after about 30 years, so I replaced it with this to use on my computer/crafting desk, and today I ordered another one for the living room. It sheds a good, bright white light (essential for a needle worker like me), or warmer colors if you choose, or choose a dimmer setting according to your preference at any given time. Wherever you set it, it remembers and goes to that setting when you turn it back on the next time. I love the convenience of having a phone/tablet charging port built in, and when your room is totally dark, you can easily find the touch pad switch because it glows light blue. If I need to move it, it is hinged in two places so it will pack flat, and that is a great feature to have! I will order at least one more, and maybe two more next month. These are just beautiful highly functional lamps! I plan to go totally LED in our home over the next few months, and I highly recommend this jewel of a lamp!

I am in law school so I work and study into the late hours of the night. I bought two of these lights because when you are working late at night, you need a light bright enough to keep you awake. I actually found out I really only need one (two is overkill), however the other lamp is used by my husband who also works pretty late at home on business matters, and he loves it. Never underestimate the power of light! Here is a list of what I love about the lamp followed by a list of what I hate about the lamp. What I love: +the different light colors: sometimes I need a bright LED light and other times I need more natural sunlight. +the brightness levels: this is super helpful when your eyes start to hurt because the light started off as perfect but ended feeling too strong. +the USB connection in the back: I'm always charging my phone. +the design: this is the crowning feature because I can control and alter the lamp at any angle, and when I'm done with the lamp I can fold it down and it doesn't look like it's taking all this counter space. It kind of looks like a thick ruler on the table which for someone like me, notorious for disposing of anything that can be considered clutter, has helped me maintain peace of mind when I'm not using the lamp during the day. +the (trans)portability: this goes into the design aspect, but just folding it up allows me to take it anywhere and the fact that you can remove the cord and plug from the lamp allows me to put this in my rolling briefcase in case I want to study outside of home. +the silver and white color combination is perfect and camouflages into my living space (white walls and wood floors); +touch buttons: once the lamp is plugged in the power, light setting, and brightness settings can be controlled by touch, which is awesome because who wants to work with dials or hard press buttons. What isn't my favorite: -the blue light that turns on when the lamp is plugged in but not in use: okay, so this may be a necessary evil as you want to be able to locate the power touch button, but for some reason it's annoying for me. However, it kind of is a good feature in the end because it reminds me to unplug the lamp (save electricity) when it isn't in use.

EZPZ. This light has a nice little port in the back for a USB connection so you can charge your electronics. NICE! Also, very bright and multiple settings for the type of lighting that is most appealing e.g. Warm White, Bright White... and levels of lighting so from mood to reading to task. It also has a little blue light on the touch switch so it's easy to see in the dark. Very convenient. I am using it on my dresser so I can see what's in the drawers more easily. I think it would make an incredible bedside lamp. I would get it again. It's well worth the small price for so much (excuse the pun) flexibility.

This is a great looking lamp. It looks sleek, and feels substantial. I've found the USB port very useful. It was my fault for not reading the product specifications; so, when I received the lamp, I was very surprised by how big it was. That would be my advice---before you order--consider if the size of right for you.

Others have said it, but no joke, this lamp is straight up awesome. And I don't say that lightly (unintentional pun). I seriously don't think I've ever been this impressed by a friggin' lamp. Multiple settings as far as what kind of light warmth you want and multiple settings for the brightness. So, lots of options. If you can't find one you like, I don't know what to say. You're being difficult and you need to lighten up (intentional pun). Also the lamp itself is flexible and easy to adjust which is sweet when you're reading that book late at night and don't want to wake your special someone or your cats. USB outlet is super handy for charging your tablet or phone. Only downer is the power button is bright (like others have said). Just cover it with something (say your mouthguard case) and all is well. Enjoy.
