I have been happily using these Woods photosensor timers for years. I stopped using mechanical timers because they all seem make annoying winding noises. This black and orange model is much better quality than the older all black bell-shaped models. It seems some people don’t understand how these work: if you’re using the photosensor/timer function, it will turn on when it senses darkness, then turn off when the timer runs out for your chosen setting OR when it senses light. So if you have the sensor facing the light you plugged into the timer, it will turn itself off, then turn back on when it’s dark, and so on. This is why people think it’s defective and flickering. I typically place these on window sills, and they consistently work as intended with no need for adjustments. If you put blinds or curtains over it on the window sill, it flawlessly turns on when it gets dark out, but will stay on no matter how many lights are on in the house (due to being shielded by the blinds/curtains). I recently tried the amazon recommendation for this type of timer when I couldn’t find any Woods ones for sale. Not only is there a notable lack of quality with the Amazon version, it doesn’t turn off when it senses light. This inevitably leads to it operating irrationally (staying committed to “on mode” regardless of actual availability of light messes up its timer schedule). I’m very happy to see these Woods timers for sale again!

This product works great and replaced a digital timer switch that was nothing but trouble. I have it set to come on at dusk and go off 8 hours later (bug zapper). I have noticed a lot less mosquitoes so it looks like the combination is working. The rotating switch has a nice solid feel to it and the waterproofing works well. It has the following options: 1. On at dusk/off at sunrise 2. On at dusk/off 2 hrs later 3. On at dusk/off 4 hrs later 4. On at dusk/off 6 hrs later 5. On at dusk/off 8 hrs later 6. On all the time 7. Off all the time Can handle loads up to 1250 watts

I like the timer it arrived with a right angle plug as pictured. It is really easy to use you twist a dial to the desired setting. I have tested on off and dusk to dawn. Using the dusk to dawn setting it comes on a little late I consider it closer to dark but it is within 15 minutes of when I would want it to come on. I can live with that. Turns itself off in the morning. Edit. I have been using the timer for about a month now. And I am very happy with the purchase.

This thing is super easy to install and use. The controls are a lot more intuitive than I thought they would be. My only problem with it is that it tends to shut off the lights when I pull in the driveway with my headlights on. But once I pass by it turns them right back on again so it's definitely not a deal breaker.

Bought this to turn my patio lighting on and off at dusk so I didn't have to remember to do it every day. Comes on at dusk and turns off at dawn without fail!!! Has only 2 receptacles for plugs, wish I had bought the one with 3 instead!!! Plan 9n purchasing another to connect more lighting to around our fire pit! Reliable, weatherproof... Highly Recommend!!

Easy to install. Love that it comes on automatically at dusk and can be set to a timer or for lights to turn off at morning light. Great for those of us that are too lazy (or don't want to) plug and unplug lights all the time!

Before purchasing this I had a mechanical timer that several times a year I had to adjust to compensate for when the seasons change. Noe I can just forget it.

I purchased 2 of these for a variety of outdoor timer needs, including Christmas lights. The timer cords are well designed and ruggedly constructed. The timer and optional day/night sensor is easy to use - no counting and fumbling about to set times and such. Very nice timer!

I live alone, and I'm working almost half of the day, so whenever I arrive home, the whole house looks so sad and dark. I bought this timer so that some bad minded people won't think that there's no one living at my home and steal my stuff. At least with this, my house lights up as soon as 6pm, and it won't look so lonely anymore.

I've installed fairy lights in my garden and was looking around for a lighting timer to make sure I can still save on the electric bill. I'm glad I found it, and I don't have any problem if I forgot to turn the fairy lights off in the morning.
