I was born in the 80's so this is Nostalgia at its best. I already have the NES30 but when I saw the SFC30 for a lower price than the NES30, I immediately jumped on. This purchase was for running emulators on Amazon's Fire TV box (don't buy the stick). Boy I tell 'yah, this thing is a 'bute. Once paired, this thing connects and reconnects with ease (something I was looking for). It even connects much better than the NES30! Tested all popular emulators and the results are what I wanted. Long battery life (around 450mAH), easy reconnect, almost a 1:1 feel to the controller, and way way more. This is easily recommendable but you do need to be familiar with emulators and the controller's pairing/repairing methods when connecting to a different device. This actually has a better connection to the Fire TV than it does my PC (bad built in bluetooth). Not fully tested but I got no noticeable lag. I did contemplated if I should get the NES30Pro but the buttons looks to be smaller spacing wise so no go there. If you are a old skool gamer as I am, this would be a no brainer, unless your a Genesis guy (my favorite 16-bit console) your SOL. P.S. I believe 8bitdo is working on their bluetooth dongle for the SNES, which means this controller will be wireless on an actual SNES console!!!!!

As everyone knows, the Nintendo Switch's joycon doesn't have a real D-pad. Yes there's a d-pad on the Pro controller but even though it's a good option, it's on the expensive side. I bought the SFC30 specifically to play USFII and all the NeoGeo games available for the Switch. In this regard, the SFC30 is a great pad. It's so good, I bought the SNES designed one as well to complete a pair. It feels just like the real deal. The gray on this is even a different shade than the SNES version, which shows a very good attention to detail by 8bitdo. Easy recommendation for these things.

I originally gave three stars because I was having a rough time getting the bluetooth to work with my Retropie. After fiddling with the Retropie a bit more, I was able to get it to pair up perfectly on bluetooth. Now it gets recognized and pairs up every single time. This controller is great. The buttons are responsive, and not too mushy. Works 100% as expected with no issues now.

This is a really nice gamepad. It's lightweight but with enough heft to be comfortable and not feel cheap, the back is slightly curved and wedge-shaped for a better feel, and the buttons are fantastic. Setup with Bluetooth was trivial, at least for my use- I'm using this controller with a RetroPie, so I left it in the default mode and just paired it up. I don't notice any lag at all; I don't play fighting games, but I never feel like I've missed a jump or shot due to a late button press. They advertise battery life as something like 30 hours, which I haven't really tested. I just plug it in every couple days. The firmware is also still under active development- they've fixed a number of bugs with RetroPie over the last year, so that's very encouraging. The attention to detail is excellent, right from the start. The controller comes in a nice padded box, rather than a crummy clamshell, so it just feels quality before you even open the box. It includes a ridiculously nice USB cable, a short but concise instruction sheet, and a key chain, for some reason. The fit and finish is precise, with no obvious seam ridges. There's very minimal side-to-side or vertical play in the buttons. Even the two (small) status lights are on the front of the controller rather than the top, so you don't need to see them while you're playing. You're probably also looking at the Buffalo Classic USB Gamepad for PC wired controller, so I'll compare it to that. They're both nice controllers, but I think I prefer this 8bitdo model. The face & shoulder buttons are slightly "clickier", which I like, but we're not talking Model M keyboard kind of clicks. There's no "turbo" buttons, which I think is a feature- I don't really want anything besides an exact SNES design. Unless you don't have Bluetooth available on your game machine, there's no reason whatsoever to not purchase this controller. The extra ~$15 is well spent to not have to deal with wires. Highly recommended.

All around a great bluetooth controller with great tactile feedback. Connected and working with bluetooth devices(PC, Raspberry Pi 3) beautifully. I HIGHLY recommend you update the firmware on the controller as soon as possible. It's incredibly easy. Go to 8bitdo's website, click Support in the top right, Firmware, and then download the latest firmware files(v4.0 as of writing). This download will contain a ReadMe, Firmware file, and a program to update the controller over a USB connection to your Windows PC OR Mac. The ReadMe AND program both instruct you on what to do to correctly upgrade the firmware on the controller. My controllers(SFC30 and SNES30) both arrived with v2.70 firmware. This caused tons of issues setting it up for the RP3, but v4.0 fixed everything! An absolute steal for $35 each, if you find these on sale do not hesitate to pick one up!

I have a Fire TV (1st Gen) and wanted to play some SNES and N64 games. I did a bunch of research and figured out how to sideload the SNES and N64 emulators and push the game roms to the Fire TV. All I needed was the perfect controller. This did the trick and it works beautifully. Pairing Pairing the controller with my Fire TV was pretty simple but my Fire TV wouldn't recognize the remote unless I plugged in via USB first. Then after that I could connect via Bluetooth. I bought 2 of these remotes and the behavior was consistent on both. Playability Feels just like the old SNES controller, button texture, click and everything. It's amazing. Very responsive from the remote to the game. Some roms have a little more lag than others but it's something that one can get used to. Highly recommend this. I'm having a blast playing Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, Zelda and Final Fantasy III again.

Absolutely wonderful controller. It's authentic to the original, and I like the four color design better than the purple/lavender design the official ones used in the US. I regret buying it however, as the SF30 Pro is this but with analog sticks and a second set of triggers, also from 8bitdo, for $15 more. I would rather have that one, but for what this is, it's incredible. The quality of this controller makes me sad that my phone doesn't run Android, as iPhones can't be used for emulation (without jailbreak, which I don't have).

This was a Father's Day gift for my husband. He likes it a lot! He said it feels like an old Nintendo controller. I advise you to buy the bracket that hold the controller and your phone together. See picture.

Awesome controller so far, feels identical to the original when those buttons were still crisp to press. The shoulder buttons have a satisfying click to them. Setup is pretty simple and you need to also go out to 8bitdo's website to update the firmware. I have only used it on android so far and having issues with the bluetooth lagging. However I believe this is related to the android tv box I am using and no fault of the controller. Will update as I test on more platforms including my PC. But thus far using it with the micro usb has been spot on! Overall seems like a solid choice for anyone who wants to do some retro gaming! It also pairs well with the raspberry pi if you end up going that route. Very good packaging and the included keychain is a nice touch, along with the flat micro usb cable. I will also update on the battery life as I haven't got it to run down after about a week of on/off usage.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. It's an amazing piece of hardware.. But I'm not happy I got a used controller. Some slight wear and scratches on the buttons. I won't be returning it because it works well enough. I'm wondering if it wasn't a review sample? I was skeptical buying this. A Bluetooth controller that mimics the original SNES controller. Both in looks, and functionality. With it being Bluetooth, I was weary of input lag and performance. I use this primarily on my computer. Using Retroarch I've tried a few different console cores with it. It's actually surprising how well this actually worked. First thing I noticed was that I had to change the dpad mapping, otherwise the dpad wouldn't work in game. After that I booted up A Link to the Past. Running through the intro, I was surprised at how little input lag was actually there. Yes, I was running it over Bluetooth, not the included USB cable. Then SMRPG and a few Gameboy games. It works amazing. The dpad feels a bit.. Spongy... For lack of better terms, but works great. The face buttons are slightly clicky and firm. The shoulder buttons are responsive. Everything is as close to 1:1 as you can get to the original hardware. With that said, this is as close to reliving my childhood I can get without bringing out the SNES and CRT. I didn't test battery life as this is only my first week. I will update my review as I go. So far? I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.
