So comparing the Hohem gimbal to other well known brands I have to say that I’m impressed its very light in weight so carrying it around and holding it to shoot for a while wont hurt your hand plus the grip is very comfortable. Also the battery last for so long so that wont be a problem if you go on a hike or use it for long hours. Balancing the phone on it was very easy and quick. The movement of the axis is very smooth making the video look great. There are also two extra screw holes for those who want to add light or microphone and still keep the mini tripod attached to the bottom. The zoom switch works very well with the app as there are also other nice features in the app. Overall this is a really nice gimbal with cool features in the app. If your looking for a gimbal to shoot videos for fun or more professionally you wont be disappointed if you buy the Hohem gimbal.

This gimbal is very easy to learn how to use, when you pair it with their app, the Hohem Gimbal App, you really start learning everything you can do. Pairing the device to your phone is simple and within just a few minutes you will be up and running. This gimbal also comes really nicely packaged in a travel worthy (and gift worthy) case. This would make a fantastic gift item. The App allows for a lot of functions: 1. Auto-face tracking shooting 2. Select object tracking shooting 3. Motion timelapse 4. Single click to panorama 5. Auto-calibration 6. Setting zoom/focus slider in the APP 7. Adjustment of camera & stabilizer parameter 8. Firmware upgrade in the APP 9. Slow Motion Out of the box, plan on about 3.5 hours to charge the device and then you will get about 12 hours of usage (depending on how many of the on-board features you use). Being able to zoom in and out with your thumb while you are gripping the gimbal is very convenient and easy to do. The kit also comes with a small tabletop tripod and when you use this in conjunction with the app that allows object tracking and timelapse you can get really creative with your photos and videos, even when you are by yourself. I have only had this for a couple of weeks now but have been having a lot of fun with it and I am sure you will too!

The Hohem iSteady Mobile gimbal is perfect for people that shoot on their mobile device a lot and want to instantly make their video look more professional. At first I was skeptical if it was going to work well, and it blew me away with how steady it was. The stabilization is buttery smooth and the gimbal holds large phones with no issue. It’s extremely lightweight which helps if you’re going to be holding your phone for a while. Setup time is super quick because it’s all one piece and balancing the phone on the gimbal is super easy and only takes a few seconds. The different stabilization modes are cool because they let you change how the gimbal works depending on what you’re shooting. My favorite mode to mess around with is the 360 degree barrel roll. It makes the footage look like it’s part of Inception. The controls on the gimbal are nice and easy to use. The joystick lets you move the phone around and you can download the app to control your recording using the gimbal buttons. If you download the app you can even use the auto track feature which will automatically follow whatever subject you are filming which is really neat. The battery life is really good, it last me about 10 hours, it will most likely be different for everyone, depending on how heavy your phone is or if you balance the gimbal well. But I was super impressed. You can charge your phone from the gimbal using the usb power output which is good for longer shooting sessions. And the gimbal recharges relatively quickly. I’m really happy with my purchase and if you’re looking to impress your friends with your smooth videos or maybe make a travel vlog, I would definitely look into picking up this gimbal. It’s a great way to keep your footage steady if you have shaky hands as well.

I am not a professional vlogger or looking to commercialize my videos...I was looking for a simple to us hand held gimble mount/stand for my iPhone Xs MAX. I wanted to be able to create videos that were smooth and easy to watch...something that was hard to do by simply holding the phone. I looked at many gimble mounts/stands and came across this one. Price point was good and the reviews were generally positive. One thing that I did follow that was recommended in the reviews, was to follow the instructions especially at it applies to first time use. I did and I did not have any of the weird jittery movement that some others who commented experienced. With out getting too much in depth about the actual operations, I can say that with the heavier iPhone Xs Max the gimble worked smoothly and without fail. The app was easy to install and it controlled the necessary functions of the phone without issue. Overall operation such as zoom was actually easier and smoother than trying to do it from the phone's screen and the pan, tilt, and follow features worked perfectly. Battery life seems to be good but I have yet to take it our for a day of video so I can not say I have fully tested that. I guess the only two cons that I have is it is hard to install the MAX onto the mount....seems I am at the limit of the size it will take...but once in, it is secure and does balance properly. The other con is it seems big, but this is my first use with a gimble unit for an iPhone, so maybe that is just is as it is. I have used them for larger cameras and of course they were huge...but so were the cameras comparatively! One note is with the MAX it will not work with a protective case so I had to take the phone out of my Outerbox. My daughter has an iPhone 6 in-cased in an Outerbox Defender and the phone did fit...just as side note. I recommend this gimble for those that are looking for better video from their cell phones and even vlogers who need a more professional video without investing in professional or semi-professional equipment.
