These traps are meant to be used in beehives. We used vegetable oil to capture any beetles that may attempt to infiltrate the hive. We poured 5 tablespoons of vegetable oil into the trap and place directly into hive attached to one of the frames. It easily secures to the frame with little to no force and should remain there until we remove it.
